Totalitarian leaders need two things to survive. Unquestioned support of their “inner circle” and a pretense for action, i.e. an incident, real or made up. The decisive point in time for the rise of totalitarianism in Germany in the 1930s were the decisive events of German leader of June 30 to July 2, 1934, normally referred to as “The Night of the Long Knives”. In a swift action, the ascending German Leader took action against the SA, the Sturm Abeilung, or the Brown Shirts. The leader of the National Socialists could not have gotten to this point without the Brown Shirts, the rough, violent, undisciplined element vital to his rise. Yet he was on shaky ground and for years been developing the Black Shirts as his even more inner circle. In several days of violence, the German leader used his Black Shirts to round up, execute, and eliminate the Brown Shirts citing their “crimes”. It was classic, thuggish, treacherous, no boundaries, totalitarianism. Mr. Hitler couldn’t live without the Brown Shirts until he needed them no more and dispensed with them like a used plastic utensil via the Black Shirts.
Mr. Xi is showing similar traits in his consolidation of power within the Chinese Communist Party. He took power in 2012 but really didn’t begin his slow motion Night of the Long Knives until the unprecedented Party Congress in October 2022 where Xi had his predecessor unceremoniously and infamously marched out of the room. A tactic the German Leader never performed, but something Mr. Hussein (an admirer of the German leader) of Iraq did routinely and would have been proud of. This Party Congress marked the unprecedented third term election of Mr. Xi, from this point on, it was game on, as Xi created an accelerated wave of purges that resulted in the large-scale purge of late December 2023 where Xi proffered an unequivocal teaching point and life lesson to anyone that might consider opposing him for leadership of the CCP. This was Xi’s “Night of the Long Knives”.
Xi cleans house on scale
Returning from Uzbekistan in September 2022, after browbeating Putin for failures in Ukraine, rumors of Palace Intrigue and coup attempts in China exploded. Xi had to act decisively because in October 2022 was the Party Congress. The White Paper Revolution occurred right after the Party Congress on a massive scale and spooked Xi and the entire CCP leadership. All these events led to the December 2023 “Night of the Long Knives, nine Generals and Admirals have been eliminated en masse by their dismissal from the National People’s Congress.
A dark comedy on Soviet leadership palace intrigue was “The Death of Stalin”. Xi tries to be more cerebral and sophisticated, but likely the same dark comedic chaos is going on right now. The current nine flag officers removed include three former commanders or vice commanders of the PLA Rocket Force; one a former Air Force chief and one a Navy commander responsible for the South China Sea. Four officers were responsible for equipment.
Before the batch of nine removed during the Night of the Long Knives, immediately prior, other replacements were made:
Li Shangfu (Joint Chief’s Chairman equivalent): Missing, likely dead
Wei Fenghe, Li’s predeceser: Missing, likely dead
Wang Shaojun (Central Guard Unit Commander, no real American equivalent): Dead
Qin Gang (Secretary of State Equivalent): Missing, possibly executed
Top commander of the rocket force, Li Yuchao, also disappeared alongside his deputy Liu Guangbin and former deputy Zhang Zhenzhong (these may be the three referred to in news releases of the current nine flag officers removed).
BRICS Conference didn’t go quite right
The highly touted Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS) in August 2023 was supposed to be the international equivalent of the October 2022 Party Congress. This was intended to be the Gold Medal Ceremony of the Olympics like effort of China to displace the United States. Up until this time, Xi was on a roll of success after success:
Flying spy balloons around the world and especially one over the American Missile fields and bomber bases with no pushback: Check
Expanding the Spy Base in Lourdes, Cuba: Check
Humiliating Yellen during her visit: Check
Pretending to be interested in what Blinken had to say during his visit: Check
Expanding the Spy Base in Lourdes, Cuba to Military Training and announcing it as Blinken flew back to America: Check
Allowing vague and absurd virtue signaling from John F. Kerry while being the largest polluter on the planet: Check
Taking over supervision of the Drug Cartels in the ungoverned space of Mexico and making Fentanyl in a much more efficient fashion: Check
Using the Fentanyl produced in Mexico under Chinese supervision and killing 10,000 Americans a month in 2023 and 70,000 total in 2022, more Americans than were killed in forty combined years of combat in the Vietnam War and the War on Terror: Check
Sending in legions of trained, military age males as para-militaries into America across the unsecure southern border and becoming decisively involved in “legal” and illegal cannabis production and distribution as gateway drugs toward Fentanyl: Check
Wooing Saudi Arabia into sales of oil in Yuan and a peace deal with Iran: Check
Setting up the BRICS conference to be the key event to build a coalition to capsize American world leadership: Check
Successfully using a captured occupant of the White House and his son to wreck America: Check
Xi was not on his best game at the BRICS, disrupted by several events that even the best totalitarian couldn’t control. Prices collapsed in China shortly before the BRICS conference. This price collapse was a stark indicator of China’s real economic health. And then, historic floods devastated Beijing and the regime attempted to use the neighborhoods of the populace as a moat causing anger and rage not seen since last year’s White Paper uprising.
After sacking his Foreign Minister and Nuclear Force Leadership Team immediately before BRICS, Xi sent in Wang Wentao to read a statement in the opening part of the conference. When Xi did appear, a bizarre tussle occured and the doors closed behind him as the South African guards wrestled and shoved with the Chinese entourage. A bit lowbrow for the self-appointed leader of the new world order.
Housecleaning greatly undermines readiness for invasion of Taiwan, but that doesn’t mean the CCP won’t try
The Chinese Night of the Long Knives does not bode well for Chinese military readiness for an imminent attack on Taiwan. If Xi was assessing the inventory of successes for China’s no boundaries plan to topple America as the world leader, China’s proxies of Russia, Iran, Hamas, Houthis, Somalis, and Venezuela are having great success setting off arson fires across the world to distract and overwhelm the United States led world.
But anything can happen as “The Death of Stalin” showed. Xi may force a reckless campaign anyway in the Western Pacific despite a decimated military leadership. The Chinese Night of the Long Knives may be only the final internal action before Xi lashes out in the Western Pacific. Anything to topple America before Trump returns.

Former President Donald Trump blasted Republican Ohio Governor Mike DeWine on Saturday over his veto of a bill banning child sex changes.
The legislation, House Bill 68, would have also banned biological male students from playing on sports teams meant for girls.
DeWine told reporters on Friday that the ban would do “more harm than good.”
“These are truly complex issues, and reasonable people draw vastly different conclusions,” DeWine said during a press conference on Friday. “This bill would impact a very small number of Ohio’s children, but for those children who face gender dysphoria, and for their families, the consequences of this could not be more profound.”
DeWine claimed that parents of “transgender” children told him that their kids would have committed suicide without sex change procedures.
“Ultimately, I believe this is about protecting human life,” DeWine said. “Many parents have told me that their child would not have survived — would be dead today — if they had not received the treatment they received from one of Ohio’s children’s hospitals.”
“I’ve also been told by those who are now grown adults that, but for this care, they would have taken their lives when they were teenagers,” DeWine continued.
In a post to Truth Social, Trump blasted the decision and said that DeWine had “fallen to the radical left.”
“DeWine has fallen to the Radical Left,” Trump wrote. “No wonder he gets loudly booed in Ohio every time I introduce him at Rallies, but I won’t be introducing him any more.”
Trump had previously endorsed DeWine during his 2022 reelection bid.
Trump continued, “I’m finished with this ‘stiff.’ What was he thinking. The bill would have stopped child mutilation, and prevented men from playing in women’s sports. Legislature will hopefully overturn. Do it FAST!!!”
Republican lawmakers had passed the bill with overwhelming support.
The Ohio GOP also holds supermajorities in both chambers and will have the opportunity to override the governor’s veto.

The Methodist Church of Great Britain released a new woke “Inclusive Language Guide” to police language for its ministers and those who practice the faith.
The guide includes advises Methodists to avoid using “hurtful” gendered terms such as “husband” and “wife.”
The guide shares, “As Christians, we need to have the courage for conversations that can sometimes be difficult, to recognize that we sometimes exclude people, to listen with humility, to repent of any hurtful language and to take care with how we listen and what we say or write, in the Spirit of Christ.”
“There is infinite variety in the way that God’s creation is expressed in human life. This is worth bearing in mind as we speak and write. Terminology such as ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ may sound inoffensive but it makes assumptions about a family or personal life that is not the reality for many people.”
“The words ‘parent,’ ‘partner’, and ‘child’ are a good place to start. ‘Carer’ is also a neutral yet understandable way to refer to the primary carer of a child, who may or may not be their parent.”
In sections addressing ‘gender identity,’ the guide claims that “using a person’s chosen pronouns is helpful as it honors their identity.”
“Language such as ‘brothers and sisters,’ while intended to be inclusive and friendly, doesn’t take into account our non-binary friends.”
The Christian Post shares additional guidelines:
The guide goes on to list extensive categories of people with whom Methodists are advised to use “sensitive and inclusive” language when addressing minorities that have been “marginalized and/or demonized by common culture.”
The guide urges steering clear of “ageism” by avoiding terms like “old people,” to embrace “anti-racist language” by encouraging use of “ethnicity” instead of “race,” and to avoid language that negatively emphasizes a person’s immigration status or English skills.
Antisemitic and Islamophobic rhetoric are also discouraged, and the guidance also encourages Methodists to tread carefully with their terminology when addressing “disabled and neurodiverse people” and those with mental illness.
The guidance also encourages congregations to “share your own pronouns in conversation,” directing them to controversial LGBT activist groups, including Stonewall and GLAAD, and controversial trans-activist Jeffrey Marsh.
The Gateway Pundit reported that Marsh, a transgender social media influencer, has been accused of posting inappropriate videos on social media that encourage children to join his Patreon so he can chat privately with them.
Many of his videos are aimed directly at children, specifically those who don’t have a good relationship with their families.
Influencer Shumirun Nessa shared a video questioning the appropriateness of Marsh targeting kids and trying to get a private audience with them. She was subsequently doxed and her children were threatened by trans activists.

Rabbi David Wolpe on Fox News
The Gateway Pundit reported that prominent Rabbi David Wolpe announced his resignation from Harvard’s antisemitism board after University President Dr. Claudine Gay’s disastrous and embarrassing testimony on Capital Hill.
During her testimony in front of the House Education Committee, Gay failed to condemn students on campus calling for the genocide of Jews.
Wolpe, the only Rabbi on the board, described Gay’s appearance as “painfully inadequate testimony.”
Rabbi Wolpe delivered his message on X, offering a “Hanukkah message” ahead of the Jewish holiday.
1/3 Resigning, a Hanukkah Message: As of today I have resigned from the antisemitism advisory committee at Harvard. Without rehashing all of the obvious reasons that have been endlessly adumbrated online, and with great respect for the members of the committee, the short…
— David Wolpe (@RabbiWolpe) December 7, 2023
On Friday, Wolpe wrote an op for The Harvard Crimson, “On the Hatred of Jews.”
Israel is the only country in the world that is routinely and widely targeted for eradication. So is anti-Zionism synonymous with antisemitism?
There are exceptions, but the overlap is striking. I have never heard of activists who are angry with China targeting Chinese restaurants in Paris, but when Hamas terrorists were recently arrested in Europe with plans to blow up Jewish institutions, they were not targeting Israel, but Jews. If someone is angry at Israel, they target Jewish synagogues, businesses, and restaurants — anything associated with Jews, anywhere in the world — no matter their relationship to Israel.
*******
The energy and outrage Jews generate — making up 0.2 percent of the world population — is oddly disproportionate. Antisemitism is a wild, irrational eruption.
*****
Harvard has a long and ignoble history of antisemitism, as Harvard President Claudine Gay said in her remarks to Harvard Hillel in October. It is time to admit it, confront it and overcome it. One can criticize policies without calling for the end to the only homeland Jews have ever known. One can demand a Palestinian state without globalizing the intifada — the term for a protest that previously resulted in over 110 suicide bombings that targeted buses, cafes, and malls.
If we cannot learn to argue civilly at Harvard, how can we have hope for the civility of other places in the world?
Jews gave the world a precious gift: the idea that each human being is an image of God. I pray that we all remember and honor that gift.
Wolpe appeared on Fox News to discuss Harvard’s “history of antisemitism” and encouraged the university to “admit it, confront it, and overcome it.”

They ‘facilitate the unraveling of the rule of law that they seek to avert’
A leading commentator from the Hoover Institution, Peter Berkowitz, is warning America that those who are the most virulent in their attempts to keep President Donald Trump off the 2024 ballot – essentially they are trying to destroy him – are the ones helping in the “unraveling of the rule of law.”
Berkowitz, the Tad and Dianne Taube senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, was for several years the director of the Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. State Department.
He explains at Real Clear Wire that the campaign against allowing voters to have even the opportunity of voting for Trump is being ratcheted to extreme levels.
In fact, Democrats and their specially chosen prosecutors have assembled a list of cases against Trump, including by now dozens and dozens of charges, often on what critics of the prosecutors say simply are flimsy, or fabricated, claims.
One, for example, wants him jailed for his opinions and statements about the 2020 election, the election that was skewed by at least two undue influences. One was Mark Zuckerberg’s decision to hand out $400 million plus to officials who often used the money to recruit Democrat voters. The other was the FBI’s decision to interfere by telling publications to suppress accurate, and damaging, reporting about the Bidens. A polling later showed that likely made Biden the winner in that race.
Their key talking points have been that Trump is an “insurrectionist” because a few hundred people rioted at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after he told them to protest peacefully, and their wild claims that electing Trump would end democracy in the constitutional republic that is America.
The characterization of Trump as an extreme threat is the problem, he pointed out.
“To insist that Donald Trump’s return to the White House is bound to bring dictatorship to America encourages the use of all means necessary to thwart his bid for the presidency. Flight 93 Election anti-Trumpers thereby facilitate the unraveling of the rule of law that they seek to avert,” he explained.
The “Flight 93” reference comes from a book, he explained.
“On Sept. 5, 2016, The Claremont Review of Books’ website published ‘The Flight 93 Election’ under the pseudonym Publius Decius Mus. The high-brow polemic went viral a few days later when Rush Limbaugh read it aloud on his radio show. Author Michael Anton – who served on President Trump’s National Security Council and is now a fellow at Hillsdale College and the Claremont Institute – analogized the choice between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to the one faced by passengers on the last of the four doomed commercial aircraft that had been hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001. If Flight 93 passengers did nothing, they faced certain death. If they charged the cockpit, they might still die, but they gave themselves a fighting chance to seize control of the plane,” he explained.
The analysis suggested Trump was articulating the correct positions on immigration, trade, war and more during that campaign.
While pointing that desperate times require desperate measures, Anton “did not call for lawlessness. But by maintaining that Clinton’s election would produce unmitigated catastrophe, he encouraged the notion that all bets were off if she prevailed at the ballot box,” Berkowitz wrote.
But now, he said, “Today’s anti-Trumpers go Anton one better. Whereas he warned of the danger of progressive dictatorship a mere two months before the 2016 election, anti-Trumpers have been sounding the alarm continuously against Trumpian tyranny since 2016 and have picked up the pace this cycle.”
He said at this point, “much of the elite media is marching in lockstep to alert the nation of its imminent peril. New York Times columnist Charles Blow argued in mid-December that the prospect of a Trump-led Republican Party taking power shows that ‘our democracy hangs by a thread.’ Talking heads on CNN and MSNBC have been affirming matter-of-factly that Trump will extinguish democracy.”
Ex-Rep. Liz Cheney, a Republican from Wyoming who was fired by voters following her years-long war on Trump, claimed that America, because it does not follow her anti-Trump agenda, is “sleepwalking into dictatorship.”
Other leftists have made similar suggestions, including Washington Post columnist Robert Kagan, who claimed, “Once elected … Trump will prove unstoppable,” Berkowitz explained.
Kagan’s claims, Berkowitz noted, include that the DOJ would prosecute “the honorable and innocent,” Trump would defy the Supreme Court and a GOP Congress would do nothing.
Kagan lamented that Americans are approaching the 2024 election is if it was an ordinary election, not a “looming disaster.”
Berkowitz pointed out that actually, “history provides scarce evidence of democracies deteriorating into dictatorships without the cooperation of the military, government bureaucracy, business world, media, and universities.”
And those factors appear unlikely at best.
He continued that further, “Kagan offers not a word about the political forces that provoked voters to back Trump in 2015 and gave his candidacy new life in 2023. Trump tapped into festering resentments of progressive policy on trade, immigration, crime, and war, and progressive superciliousness on cultural issues. His supporters viewed Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia collusion investigation and the two Trump impeachments as elite weaponizations of federal law enforcement. The four criminal indictments brought against Trump – all between April 4 and Aug. 10, 2023, more than two years after he left office and just as the 2024 campaign ramped up – have reinforced his voters’ belief that progressive elites have ridden roughshod over the law to bring him down. The reckless decision by the Colorado Supreme Court last week to remove Trump from the state’s Republican primary ballot on the grounds that he violated the 14th Amendment’s prohibition on those who have ‘engaged in insurrection’ serving as president – despite his having never been charged with insurrection – adds fuel to the fire.”
Finally, Kagan advocates for throwing “everything you can” at someone like a Trump, and likened him to “a marauder” crashing into your home, the commentary said.
“Contrary to Kagan, it is hard not to fault those who have treated the laws of the land as if they were makeshift weapons to hurl at a house-invading marauder.”
Berkowitz said, however, speech is protected in America and there are procedures for determining whether conduct is unlawful.
