In an appearance on CNN on Sunday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) appeared to issue a threat to Justice Clarence Thomas if he does not recuse himself from participating in Supreme Court cases involving President Trump over efforts to remove him from the 2024 presidential election due to the “insurrection” clause of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
When asked by CNN State of the Union host Dana Bash if Thomas should recuse himself from Trump election cases because of his wife Ginni Thomas’ activism in support of Trump’s efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election, Raskin said, “He absolutely should recuse himself. The question is, what do we do if he doesn’t recuse himself?”
Congress has no constitutional role in deciding which justices hear cases on the Supreme Court. Raskin’s question can only answered by extra-judicial means.
Bash did not follow-up to ask Raskin what he meant. In the past few years Conservative Supreme Court Justices have been the targets of threats by Democrats, intimidating protests at their homes by leftist activists and an assassination attempt.
Raskin’s dog whistle echoed the threat by now Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) against Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch made on the steps of the Supreme Court in 2020:

Excerpt from CNN transcript:
BASH: Three of the sitting justices were appointed by Donald Trump. And, in addition to that, Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife, Ginni, texted with Mark Meadows about the 2020 election in the lead-up to January 6, as you well know.
Should any of the justices recuse themselves if they take this up?
RASKIN: Well, finally, the Supreme Court has developed what they’re describing as a code of ethics.
It’s not binding, in the sense that they’re not going to anyone else. They could have gone to, for example, circuit court justices. You could have had state Supreme Court justices on a panel. But — so they’re deciding for themselves again whether they’re in violation of their code of ethics.
But I think anybody looking at this in any kind of dispassionate, reasonable way would say, if your wife was involved in the big lie and claiming that Donald Trump had actually won the presidential election and had been agitating for that and participating in the events leading up to January 6, that you shouldn’t be participating in…
BASH: So, he should recuse himself?
(CROSSTALK)
RASKIN: He should. Oh, he absolutely should recuse himself. The question is, what do we do if he doesn’t recuse himself?
BASH: How quickly do you think that the Supreme Court will weigh in on this, if they will at all? But I will — you assume that they will, right?
RASKIN: Yes.
I mean, under constitutional federalism, every state is ultimately going to control its own ballot access and access to candidates for the ballot. And that is obviously difficult when we’re talking about electing the president, who is the one official we have got in America who is supposed to represent the entire country, represent everybody.
And so I think that the urgency is for the Supreme Court to act. But I think it’s going to be tough for some of them, if they want to keep Trump on the ballot, if they’re falling for the argument that this is undemocratic. I mean, is it undemocratic that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jennifer
Granholm can’t run for president because they weren’t born in the country? If you think about it, of all the forms of disqualification we have, the one that disqualifies people for engaging in insurrection is the most democratic, because it’s the one where people choose themselves to be disqualified.
In terms of your age or where you were born, that’s not up to you. But Donald Trump is in that tiny, tiny number of people who’ve essentially disqualified themselves.
Thomas has been the target of a campaign to force him off the Supreme Court by Democrats and activists in the media over his wife Ginni’s conservative activism and over phony ethics allegations.

U.S. Navy helicopters sunk three Iran-backed Houthi rebel boats and killed their entire crews in self-defense after the terrorists attacked a container ship in the Red Sea.
This news comes hours after Houthis in Yemen fired two ballistic missiles “toward” two U.S. warships in the Red Sea while they were aiding a merchant ship called the Maersk Hangzhou that a Houthi missile had previously struck as the Gateway Pundit’s Kristinn Taylor reported. the USS Gravely shot down the two ballistic missiles.
U.S. CENTCOM command revealed Sunday morning that four Houthi boats attacked the Maersk Hangzhou again by firing small arms and crew-served weapons. They got within 20 meters of the vessel and attempted to take it over.
A contract-embarked security team on the container ship then returned fire in self-defense. The Maersk Hangzhou issued a distress call to alert the U.S. Navy, which came to the ship’s aid.

The Navy issued warnings to Houthis, who responded by firing weapons at the helicopters. This turned out to be a poor move on their part.
The U.S. Navy struck back, promoting three of the four boats to submarines and killing every single terrorist (10 total) aboard. The fourth boat managed to escape the scene.
CENTCOM command reported there was no damage to U.S. personnel or equipment.
Axios’ Barak Ravid reports this is the most significant engagement by U.S. forces against the Iranian-backed Houthis since they started attacking ships in the Red Sea after the Gaza war began,
While the Maersk Hangzhou vessel is safe and unharmed, the company has halted all sailing on the Red Sea for 48 hours, according to Reuters.
While the Houthi have terrorized the Red Sea, the worthless Biden regime has refused to attack a single Houthi base in response over the past three months.
Their weakness has only emboldened our enemies and put our allies in graver danger.

While Americans suffer under a disastrous Biden economy, his administration is sending tax dollars to Peru to sponsor a ballroom dancing initiative focused on “uplifting transgender and gender-diverse” young people.
The funding comes from the U.S. Department of State’s Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund (CDAF). According to their website, CDAF “provides funding for the CDAF annually, with projects eligible for up to $10,000 each. Teams of U.S. citizen exchange alumni work to utilize the skills, knowledge, and networks gained through their U.S. government exchange programs and address issues faced by communities around the world.”
Included in the list of programs funded in 2023 is “Ballroom Saves Lives: Resiliency and Wellness in Peru,” which “draws inspiration from a ballroom dancing tradition rooted in the Black and Latinx LGBTQIA community.”
Ballroom Saves Lives: Resiliency and Wellness in Peru Ballroom aims to uplift transgender and gender diverse youth leaders in Lima, Peru by amplifying arts-based ballroom spaces, connecting LGBTQIA+ people with healthcare resources, and fostering trust with health providers through the ballroom community through three events and a series of workshops. Ballroom is a performance art style and culture consisting of dance, modeling, and community engagement that began in the Black and Latinx LGBTQIA+ community.
Launched in 2019, CDAF has given out $1.85 million in grants, according to its website.

The Daily Caller reports:
Programs funded by CDAF in 2022 included one about teaching “the role jazz plays in the quest for freedom, democracy, and civil rights,” workshops about “hip-hop, graffiti, and dance (breaking, popping, and locking),” and “Empowering Women Leaders in Rural Morocco.”
Ballroom dancing for LGBTQIA+ youth in Peru isn’t the first LGBT program the State Department has supported.
The State Department funded an LGBTQ+ film festival in Portugal that showed movies depicting incest and a minor having sex with an adult. The department stood by its decision to support the festival, citing its support for “protecting and promoting the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.

France is deploying 90,000 police officers and soldiers nationwide for New Year’s Eve celebrations, citing a “very high” terror threat.
The threat is increased due to the Israel-Hamas war.
“I’ve requested a very strong mobilisation of police forces and the gendarmerie under the context of a very high terrorist threat, of course due to what’s happening in Israel and Palestine,” French Interior Minister Gerard Darmanin told reporters on Friday.

— CNEWS (@CNEWS) December 29, 2023
Darmanin also pointed out that France has long been a major target for terror attacks.
The interior minister did not specify if he was aware of any specific threats.
The Metro reports:
Up to 90,000 police officers and gendarmes have been deployed throughout the country in preparation.
Around 5,000 soldiers from Operation Sentinel, a military operation aimed at protecting France from terror threats, and 35,000 firefighters have also been dispatched.
Up to 1.5 million people are expected to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Champs-Elysees in Paris and 6,000 officers will be on patrol.
Law enforcement will also use drones for their operations for the first time.
UPI News reports that France was already on high alert due to several ISIS terror plots being foiled in Europe recently.
“Police already have made a number of arrests in France, Spain, Austria and Germany during the Christmas period, and five people were apprehended last week in northern France as part of an investigation into a terrorist plot,” the report states.
It is believed that ISIS is taking advantage of the war in Gaza to rally support for their own cause.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has also said she is “concerned that New Year’s Eve could once again be a day on which we experience blind rage and senseless violence.”
Germany is expected to deploy 4,000 police throughout Berlin for their celebrations.

Hamas

‘Radicals, revolutionaries, anti-Semites and useful idiots’
Hamas launched a war with Israel on October 7 when its terrorists invaded from Gaza and butchered an estimated 1,200 to 1,400 civilians.
Israel is responding with a military campaign that is described as intending to wipe out that threat of further terrorism.
But there are groups that have thrown their lot in with the terrorists, and Alan Dershowitz has written a column identifying them.
Dershowitz is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Emeritus at Harvard Law School, and the Jack Roth Charitable Foundation Fellow at Gatestone Institute.
At that organization’s website, he explained those “who have supported the Hamas barbarism against Israel are:”
First, “radical Islamic groups that, like the Islamic Republic of Iran after the 1979 revolution, regard Israel as the ‘Little Satan’ and America as the ‘Big Satan.’”
Also, “American revolutionary groups who used to be affiliated with Communism but now call themselves radical socialists or workers parties. Their goal is to overthrow our government and they attach themselves to every disruptive movement in the hope of garnering support and creating distrust for American democracy.”
Then there’s those “old-fashioned anti-Semites who hate anything associated with Jews and concoct conspiracy theories that blame ‘the Jews’ for all evils.”
Finally, there are the “useful idiots who have little or no knowledge of the issues but march in lockstep with all ‘woke,’ ‘hard left,’ and ‘anti-colonial’ causes.”
He counseled, “Recall that these protests began before Israel counterattacked against Hamas. They were in full bloom on October 8, even while the bodies of 1,200 murdered Israelis, including babies burned alive, were still being gathered and counted, and the roughly 240 hostages taken by Hamas to Gaza identified. These demonstrations were not against Israeli military actions in Gaza; they had not begun yet.”
He charged that the original response to the “Hamas barbarism” set a standard for the agenda, including those demands for a ceasefire.
He warned those are “orchestrated by some of the same radical groups that organized the pro-Hamas demonstrations before Israel went into Gaza. Demonstrations and protests by groups such as the Students for Justice in Palestine, Jewish Voice for Peace or the National Lawyers Guild seem anything but spontaneous and grassroots responses to ‘Israel’s military actions in Gaza.’”
He said the basic fact is that during Israel’s “legitimate military efforts to destroy Hamas terrorists and weapons” hidden among civilians, some of those civilians have died and that allows the recruitment of more anti-Israel “useful idiots.”
He explained that those Israel opponents actually are relatively small, but those “useful idiots” make the protests larger and more organized.
He said the protests actually are “exclusively anti-Israel, anti-American, pro-Hamas, and pro-terrorism.”
And the problem could grow, he warned.
“What if the useful idiots who now march for Hamas in favor of Israel’s destruction become a fifth column in America and willingly join Hamas terrorists in targeting Jewish and other institutions in our nation?”
