Joe Biden’s decision to go on the Seth Meyers late night show was mocked, considering he had just turned down the opportunity to do a softball interview at the Super Bowl.
Now the ratings for the Meyers interview are in and they are not great. The program did particularly poorly among young voters.
Biden could have reached millions of people with the Super Bowl but he chose to do this instead. Great instincts, Joe!
The Washington Examiner reports:
Biden’s Seth Meyers interview suffers drastic ratings drop among younger viewers
President Joe Biden’s appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers did not perform as well as he might have hoped.
Biden appeared on the talk show, hoping to draw up support amid his tight race against likely Republican nominee Donald Trump. The attempt struggled to land, however, especially among the critical 25-54 age demographic, Nielsen Media Research found.
The interview brought in an average of 852,000 viewers and just 181,000 in that demographic. The figure is 32% less than the same day the year prior.
Meyers’s show has declined in ratings significantly over his tenure, partly due to the public transition away from cable television.
Those are embarrassing numbers for a sitting president. Reruns of Law and Order get better ratings.
It’s beyond refreshing to see that younger viewers also find Seth Meyers to be patently insufferable.
The show only drew 852,000 viewers despite having POTUS on during an election year.
Context: Gutfeld drew nearly 2.2 million on the same night, or nearly triple the audience. https://t.co/vmbTGlcRyf

Lol they were bragging about this interview earlier this week. https://t.co/XWG9ipatpS

Odds are that the only people who tuned in to watch this interview were journalists, hardcore Seth Meyers fans and committed Democrats. Other than that, not too many people are interested in hearing what Biden has to say.

Tucker Carlson recently did an interview with podcaster Lex Fridman.
Their discussion covered a wide range of topics and is worth watching in full, but Tucker’s comments on the 2020 election are especially interesting.
Tucker said the election was ‘100 percent stolen’ citing the last minute changes made to voting procedures with regards to Covid.
PJ Media reported:
“You said to some degree the election was rigged,” Fridman began. “Was it stolen?”
“It was 100% stolen,” Carlson replied. “Are you joking?”
“Like, it was rigged to that large—”
“They completely change the way people vote right before the election on the basis of COVID—which had nothing to do with—”
“So, in that way, it was rigged?” Fridman asked.
Carlson replied:
One hundred percent. And then you censor the information people are allowed to get. Anyone who complains about COVID, which was like — by the way, it might have hurt Trump. But I mean, it’s like whatever… I mean, you could play it many different ways. You can’t have censorship in a democracy by definition; here’s how it works. The people rule, they vote for representatives to carry their agenda to the capital city and get it enacted; that’s how they’re in charge. And every few years they get to reassess the performance of those people in an election. In order to do that, they need access, unfettered access to information. And no one, particularly not people who are already in power, is allowed to tell them what information they can have. They have to have all the information that they want. Whether the people in charge want it or don’t want it or think it’s true or think it’s false doesn’t matter.
This video is cued to start at the right moment. Just press play:
Millions of Trump voters have been saying this for three years. Tucker’s point about the 2024 election hits hard as well.

A corrupt Cook County judge has ordered the Illinois Board of Elections to remove Donald Trump from ballots statewide for the March 19 primary.
As ABC 7 News Chicago reports, Democrat Judge Tracie Porter stripped Trump from the Illinois ballot one month after the Illinois State Board of Elections dismissed the anti-Trump challenge in a unanimous and bipartisan vote.
Porter claimed Trump violated the 14th Amendment’s Insurrection Clause as her excuse for removing him from the ballot. We all know Trump did not commit insurrection or any other federal crime.
“The court also realizes the magnitude of this decision and its impact on the upcoming primary Illinois elections,” Porter wrote.
“The Illinois State Board of Election shall remove Donald J. Trump from the ballot for the General Primary Election on March 19, 2024, or cause any votes cast for him to be suppressed.”
Porter previously rejected Trump’s request to stop the proceedings until the US Supreme Court rules on the similar Colorado-based case challenge that kept him off the ballot in that state.
As CNN notes, Illinois is now the third state where Trump was booted from the ballot, after Colorado and Maine. But those decisions were paused pending the appeal of the Colorado case to the US Supreme Court.
Porter relied on the prior ridiculous finding by the Colorado Supreme Court, calling Colorado’s rationale “compelling.”
CNN also notes this lawsuit was filed by a group of leftist voters in conjunction with the far-left legal advocacy group Free Speech For People.
The group had previously tried, but failed, to bar Trump from the ballot in Michigan, Minnesota, and Oregon.
Porter did issue a stay to Wednesday’s order to give time for Trump’s attorneys to appeal the decision.
This is a breaking news story. Check back for updates.

Germany is reportedly implementing a serious overhaul of the country’s military, led by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
The revamp of the military seeks to ‘make the force more capable of defending Germany and its allies.’
Deutsche Welle reported that the new defense guidelines state: “‘We must be the backbone of deterrence and collective defense in Europe. Our own population, as well as our partners in Europe, North America and the world, expect us to face up to this responsibility’.”
However, in the real world, things are not going so well for the Bundeswehr, as the deploying of the frigate ‘Hessen’ to the Red Sea has made clear.
German paper Bild’s editor Julian Röpcke has written about what he calls the ‘incredible double mishap in the German Navy off the coast of Yemen!’
The drama took place on Monday evening and is ’emblematic of the partly desolate state of the German army under Defense Minister Boris Pistorius’.
Read: TRUMP’S TOUGH TALK WORKS: Germany Vows To Spend Over 2% GDP in Defense ‘For Decades to Come’, Pressures European Allies To Do the Same
BILD reported:
“The German warship’s radar systems incorrectly recognized a drone circling overhead as hostile. The ‘Hessen’ then fired two rockets at them.
But in reality the unknown aircraft was a US MQ-9 Reaper drone (20 meter wingspan, 30 million euros).
A blessing in disguise for the Americans: Both German SM2 interceptor missiles [failed to] reach their target for technical reasons, but instead fell into the sea without achieving anything.”
Germany deployed the frigate Hessen with around 240 soldiers on board.
The Reaper drone flies 40,000 feet high, while the maximum operational altitude of the German SM-2 anti-aircraft missile is over 65,000 feet – so it should have been well within fire range.
“Defense Ministry spokesman Michael Stempfle confirmed on Wednesday that the drone that was targeted and shot at could not initially be assigned to any of the allied nations. The ‘Hesse’ then tried to shoot down this drone, but was unsuccessful.”
Before firing the missiles, the frigate had asked all allied nations about the drone, and no country had reported it in the operational area.
Only later did it turn out that it was an ‘unreported drone’.
US combat drones are reportedly operating in the region in missions that have nothing to do with the operation in the Red Sea.
German opposition MP Florian Hahn says that Olaf Scholz and his dysfunctional coalition hid the problems from lawmakers.
“We have only now found out when asked that some of the ammunition from the frigate ‘Hessen’ can no longer be procured because there is no longer any industrial capacity to do it.
So, when the stocks are depleted, the Navy can no longer restock them – and has to withdraw the frigate. Parliament decided to deploy without knowing that there was obviously an ammunition problem with the class 124 frigate.”
