Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday ruled out the idea of running on a ticket with former President Donald Trump in November.
Earlier this week, Trump said during a Fox News town hall event that DeSantis was on a “short list” of potential running mates he was considering.
Other options, Trump said, were Vivek Ramaswamy, former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, Republican Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
DeSantis was on a conference call Wednesday, and the New York Post obtained a copy of it. On the call, DeSantis shot down the idea of running alongside Trump.
“People were mentioning me [as a potential vice president]. I am not doing that,” DeSantis said.
The comment was made to other Republicans his former presidential campaign had courted as delegates for this summer’s Republican National Convention, the Post reported.
DeSantis went on to discuss who he thinks might run with Trump, should the former president become the GOP nominee.
“I know some people are really actively seeking [the VP slot],” DeSantis said, according to the Post. “It seems to me, just from watching kind of the body language and stuff, that you have a handful of folks who seem to be auditioning for it.”
DeSantis then shared how he would pick a running mate if he were at the top of this year’s presidential ticket.
“I think my criteria [for a running mate] was different than what probably Donald Trump’s criteria will be,” said DeSantis, who dropped out of the race in January.
DeSantis, 45, continued:
“My criteria was, basically, I need someone who can do the job if it came to that, and I would have been the third-youngest president elected, so chances are, actuarially, I would probably be in pretty good shape, but you never know what else can happen.”
The governor added that whoever is chosen as a running mate must be ready on “day one.”
He also said that if his campaign had succeeded, he likely would have chosen another governor as his running mate.
DeSantis also shared some thoughts about how he thinks the process is playing out for Trump and his advisers in regard to how to pick someone to place at the bottom of the ticket.
“I’m not sure that those are necessarily going to be the criteria that Donald Trump uses,” DeSantis said. “I think he’s going to probably use different criteria. I’ve heard that they are looking more at identity politics.”
“I think that’s a mistake,” DeSantis concluded. “I think you should just focus on who you think the best person for the job would be.”
DeSantis suspended his presidential campaign after the Iowa caucuses.
During Wednesday’s call, DeSantis also did not rule out the possibility of running again in 2028.

In the week that Google’s new artificial intelligence platform launched, its seeming inability to produce images of white men regardless of the prompt made it an unmitigated disaster.
And with more information unearthed regarding the people responsible for Google Gemini’s insufferable wokeness, its deficiencies look much less like a bug and more like a feature.
As reported Thursday by the Babylon Bee’s news site, Not the Bee, the senior director of the project, Jack Krawczyk, addressed Gemini’s problems in a post on the X social media platform — before he locked his account.
“We are aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions, and we are working to fix this immediately,” Krawczyk said.
Between the wording of his post and Google’s decision to suspend Gemini’s image-generating feature, it appears the tech giant wants the insanely diverse images to seem like a simple mistake.
After X users unearthed some of Krawczyk’s past posts, however, the inherent bias of the platform seems much less accidental.
Among those — shared by the @LeftismForU account — are gems such as, “White privilege is f***ing real,” “I don’t mind paying more taxes and investing in overcoming systemic racism,” and, “This is America, where racism is the #1 value our populace seeks to uphold above all.”
So far, Krawczyk makes your typical self-flagellating white leftist seem like an old-school centrist — but there’s more.
In a post about the 2020 presidential election, Krawczyk wrote, “I’ve been crying in intermittent bursts for the past 24 hours since casting my ballot. Filling in that Biden/Harris line felt cathartic.”

Seriously? This was a public admission from a grown man who occupies a senior position at one of the most powerful tech companies in the world.
That pathetic display aside, it’s clear that Gemini’s single-minded devotion to the cult of diversity, equity and inclusion is not an accident at all.
Now, an AI at its core is a computer model.
It has no intentions, biases or goals of its own — all of those come from the programmers.
It takes the input and code from its creators and makes an output based on that. Any sort of bias or political leaning will come from the humans who programmed it.
If the AI is being designed by someone like Krawczyk who constantly posts about systemic racism and other racist tropes on a public forum, then of course Gemini will reflect that.
That’s not just conjecture, either.
Not the Bee reported a user got the AI to essentially admit that it adds words like “diverse” and “non-binary” to the user’s prompts, and other users trying to generate any specifically white figure will get a lengthy lecture about “discrimination” and “inclusion.”
Regardless of what the left constantly insists, racism goes all ways — it’s “equal opportunity,” to borrow a phrase.
White people have become the left’s new punching bag, enabled by Marxist academics seeking to alter the very definition of racism.
Now, courtesy of one the wokest Big Tech companies, we see the consequences of that ideology trickling down to the products and services it produces.

It’s been widely reported that Nikki Haley is funded by RINOs and Democrats. This goes way back to 2022 when she was collecting donations for her non-profit Stand for America.
In 2022 Nikki received a $1 million donation from Vivek and Lakshmi Garipalli, members of a New Jersey family that has donated large sums to Democrats.
Then in December 2023 it was revealed that billionaire Reid Hoffman, a mega-donor to Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, is throwing his support behind former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley in her bid for the presidency.
The Stand for America PAC, which backs Haley in the GOP primary, was approached by Hoffman in December about contributing a $250,000 donation to Haley’s campaign.
Nikki Haley is now attacking President Trump for being the victim of 90+ lawfare indictments.
Haley is blaming President Trump for New York state stealing $455 million from him for paying his loans off with interest in New York State.
It should be clear to everyone at this point that Nikki is only hanging around to hurt Trump and put Democrats back in office in 2024.

Athens, GA – A talented young woman with her whole life ahead of her was allegedly brutally murdered by a criminal illegal alien while going on a campus jog, and Joe Biden’s disastrous immigration policies are to blame. To make things worse, the migrant was free after harming a child just five months earlier in New York.
As the New York Post reported, 22-year-old Laken Hope Riley was found “not breathing” and with “visible injuries” in a forested area near Lake Herrick, which is located on the University of Georgia (UGA) campus in Athens, around 12:38 p.m. Thursday.
Riley was a student at UGA before transferring to the nursing program at Augusta University’s Athens Campus after the spring 2023 semester, according to UGA’s student newspaper, The Red & Black.
The UGA Police Department arrested and identified Jose Antonio Ibarra as the individual responsible for the slaying. UGA Police Chief Jeffrey L. Clark announced during a news briefing Friday evening that Ibarra has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another.
Clark went on to say he believed the attack was a “crime of opportunity” and that the suspected killer had no known connection to the victim.
Clark noted Ibarra was not a U.S. citizen but could not say whether he was in the U.S. illegally. Ibarra was living in an apartment in Athens at the time of the murder.
Ali Bradley of NewsNation later revealed that Ibarra did enter America illegally from Venezuela thanks to Biden. She discovered Customs and Border Protection documents showing he crossed into El Paso, Texas in September 2022 and was released due to lack of detention space.

Bradley also revealed Jose Antonio Ibarra was arrested five months ago in New York. According to records, he was detained on 9/14/23 in Queens for injury to a child less than 17 and no license.

Riley was a stellar scholar who had previously made the Dean’s list and was active in church along with her sorority. She was also a dedicated athlete, having run the Athens, Georgia Half-Marathon in October.
She was also memorialized by her friends, who took to social media to share photos and memories. One called Riley “the kindest friend to all who knew her.”
