Spinelli’s in East Boston has won a $10M no-bid contract to cater shelters housing illegal immigrants
In 1983, Massachusetts passed a “first of its kind in the country” Right to Shelter law after a promise from then-governor Michael Dukakis, according to Boston University. The law guaranteed housing and certain amenities for families. Among the stipulations of that law, those families must be provided with refrigeration and basic cooking facilities.
But some of the facilities being utilized for illegal immigrant housing do not have such accommodations as required by law. In order to comply with the state law, Massachusetts has reportedly entered into a no-bid contract with a local Boston “full-service drop-off catering company with 30 years’ experience”: Spinelli Ravioli Manufacturing Company.
According to CBS News Boston, the $10 million six month long emergency contract entitles illegal immigrants to $64 per day worth of catering from a “home-style Italian” pasta company:
In some cases, the hotels are collecting money from the state for three meals a day, $16 for breakfast, $17 for lunch and $31 for dinner. That means $64 dollars a day per person.

Spinelli’s tells the I-Team, “As an approved state vendor, Spinelli’s was contacted at the onset of the crisis. We are not the exclusive meal vendor and do not have a guaranteed contract, or financial agreement, beyond this initial emergency period. We are currently in the bid process for an enduring contract and are looking forward to continue to aid the State and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities to reach their goals.”
The state’s Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities says the no-bid contract is justified because of the unprecedented increased demand and the requirement that families be provided with three meals a day or sufficient food access. Spinelli’s contract runs through the end of March.
Senator Durant says these contracts are just the tip of the iceberg on the overall cost of the crisis. “The MassHealth cost and the educational cost,” Durant said. “That’s the concern is the money has to come from somewhere and so there’s only really two options. You either raise taxes or you cut services. So, this all of this kind of flows downhill right straight to the taxpayers.”
Spinelli’s website displays a beautiful wedding scene on a lake-front property complete with champagne and white floral arrangements adorning rustic tables. You can choose between two locations: Lynnfield and East Boston. The East Boston location is referenced in the CBS report.

For lunch and dinner, they offer a plethora of fine Italian (and Spanish) cuisine such as Eggplant Parmigiana, Pasta Checca Linguini, Veal Cutlet Parmigiana, or Shrimp Scampi with Linguine.
And don’t forget to leave room for dessert!
While the “menu” provided to these shelters is not disclosed in CBS’s reporting, one can only ask: was Chef Boyardee not an option?

What do you expect to see in a president’s schedule?
Considering the president is the leader of one of the largest and most powerful countries in the free world, you might expect wall-to-wall meetings and events, probably with an early start and late finish.
If those are your (admittedly reasonable) expectations, prepare for marked disappointment as you peruse what is reportedly President Joe Biden’s daily schedule.
Obtaining this information from unnamed “White House Insiders,” the Daily Mail goes through what is purportedly Biden’s day in excruciating detail, and, when compared with the schedules of his predecessors, it doesn’t make him look all that impressive.
For instance, the commander-in-chief apparently awakens at 7 a.m. after a full eight hours of sleep, assisted by his CPAP machine, whereas Donald Trump usually only got about five hours, and George Bush was often awake by 5:15 a.m.
Biden then goes to the gym for physical therapy and a “mobility workout,” designed to mitigate his stiff joints and propensity to stumble over nothing (which, based on recent evidence, doesn’t seem to be doing much).
At 10 a.m. he finally gets to the Oval Office, a full hour later than Barack Obama’s typical start time, and a good four hours later than Donald Trump started his day. Though Trump usually didn’t actually get to the Oval Office till about 11 a.m., he spent those five hours reading news reports, watching the news, speaking with friends and advisors, and tweeting.
As for any of Biden’s public events, they are most often kept between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when Biden is “at his sharpest.”
Chris Wipple, author of the book “The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden’s White House,” tells the Daily Mail “They [his staff] basically just need to control the terms of engagement here. Biden needs to make sure that he’s rested before he goes out. The care and feeding of the president is really important. It’s the staff’s job to rein him in and make sure that he’s at his best.”
And apparently, despite tightly controlling the president’s schedule to minimize the gaffes caused by his clearly advanced age, Biden is frequently late to scheduled events, sometimes by as much as an hour or more.
After a carefully controlled day, Biden puts a “lid” on it by 5 p.m., meaning, no public events are scheduled after that time, except for rare instances like his disastrous news conference on Feb. 8.
Again, compare that to previous presidents, who, though they often went to dinner around 6:30 or 7 p.m. as Biden does, would still make public appearances after the sun went down, if needed.
The article also makes sure to discuss other concessions to Biden’s age.
There are the note cards he once inadvertently showed to the cameras during a public address in 2022, the sneakers he wears with his suits when entering and exiting airplanes to mitigate stumbles and slips, and his marked reduction in public appearances, holding only 33 news conferences compared to Obama’s 66 and Trump’s 52 by this same point.
Much as Biden’s administration tries to spin his age as an asset, and insisting on numerous occasions that he’s “sharp, he’s engaged, he pushes us for information,” as Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre once infamously claimed.
When compared to what we’ve seen of Biden in his public appearances, knowing they are carefully scheduled and curated, this schedule does little to inspire confidence in the minds of the average American.
The White House, based on this schedule, seems more like a nursing home than the headquarters of the most powerful man on the planet, no matter how much the administration tries to prop Biden up.
The Biden campaign needs to let the man retire, instead of performing this charade that Sleepy Joe is mentally and physically fit for one of the most demanding jobs in the world.

Jim Hoft reported earlier Friday that authorities geo-tracked Nathan Wade and found that Nathan Wade made at least 35 visits to corrupt Fulton County DA Fani Willis’s neighborhood before he was hired as the lead prosecutor in the lawfare RICO case against President Trump and 18 Trump associates. This puts both Willis and Wade in danger of disqualification.
Now, Fani Willis may be in more hot water after Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) revealed another bombshell at CPAC.
Jordan told CPAC host Matt Schlapp that Willis and Wade have not responded the Judiciary Committee’s subpoenas but they have interviewed a whistleblower from Willis’s office who may have some details to spill about the corrupt prosecutor.
Jordan: We haven’t heard back from her yet. We’ll see what we get from her. But there’s a whistleblower in her office who we have talked to, the committee staff.
The whistleblower, I think she’s 4’11, but Fani Willis had like seven police officers escort her out when she fired this lady. She raised the concern that Ms. Willis was not following the rules of grant dollars in an appropriate manner.
She’s now talking with our office, and we’ll see how that goes. But that’s why we have subpoenaed documents related to this.

Jordan did not reveal who the whistleblower was, but he is likely referring to Amanda Timpson, a former Fulton County DA employee. As TGP’s Cristina Laila previously revealed, Timpson had warned Fani Willis an aide in the office was going to use “$488,000 federal grant—earmarked for the creation of a Center of Youth Empowerment and Gang Prevention—to pay for “swag,” computers, and travel.”
Willis said she “respected” Timpson’s assessment of the situation. But 56 days later, Timpson was canned by Willis.
Willis’s office issued a statement describing Timpson as a “holdover from the prior administration” who was terminated because of her “failure to meet the standards of the new administration.”
The whistleblower said that this behavior by Willis was all part of a larger pattern of her abuse and corruption.

Heidi Przybyla, a reporter for Politico, appeared on MSNBC this week and fretted as she explained that Christian Nationalists believe that Americans’ rights are granted by God and not Congress or the Supreme Court.
Leaving aside her ridiculous distinctions between Christian Nationalists and other Christians, the rights of Americans DO come from God and not the government, which anyone knows if they have read the country’s founding documents.
How is this person even allowed to comment on politics on TV with this level of dishonesty or stupidity? This is a perfect example of why trust in the media is in the gutter.

HEIDI PRZYBYLA: I talked with a lot of experts on this and I have seen it with my reporting, Michael, which is that the base of the Republican Party has shifted. Remember when Trump ran in 2016, a lot of the mainline evangelicals wanted nothing to do with the divorced real estate mogul who cheated on his wife with a porn star, and all of that.
So what happened was that he was surrounded by this more extremist element. We are going to hear words like Christian nationalism, like the “new apostolic reformation.” These are groups that you should get very schooled on because they have a lot of power in Trump’s circle. And the one thing that unites all of them because there’s many different groups orbiting Trump.
But the thing that unites them as Christian nationalists, not Christians because Christian nationalists are very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans and as all human beings do not come from any Earthly authority. They don’t come from Congress, from the Supreme Court, they come from God. The problem with that is that they are determining, men, are determining what God is telling them. In the past, that so-called “natural law,” it is a pillar of catholicism for instance, it has been used for good in social justice campaigns. Martin Luther King evoked it in talking about civil rights.
