The Speaker of the House in the Texas legislature, Dade Phelan, has prevailed in his primary race against his Trump-backed opponent David Covey.
Phelan had become an unpopular figure within the Republican grassroots over his unsuccessful effort to impeach Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on baseless bribery and corruption charges. He has also faced criticism for appearing intoxicated while addressing the legislature.

However, Dade defeated former Orange County Republican Party chairman David Covey, despite his major endorsements that included Trump, Paxton, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and former Texas Republican Party Chairman Matt Rinaldi.
With all precincts reporting, Phelan led by 366 votes. Although Covey had the right to a recount, he conceded the race in a speech to supports around 21:30 local time.

“I will be your state rep for HD 21 and I will be your speaker for the Texas House in 2025,” Phelan said during his victory speech. “This was a true grassroots effort — not the fake grassroots.”
Attorney General Ken Paxton weighed in on Phelan’s win blaming it on Democrat voters in the district.

Covey, meanwhile, called Phelan an “Austin swamp creature” who had only won re-election with the support of Democrats in a “brazen act of betrayal.”
According to the Texas Tribune, Phelan won the race with the backing of “business-minded Republicans” who “spent millions” trying to save him.
The Tribune reports:
The more business-oriented establishment wing of the party viewed Phelan’s campaign as a last stand to maintain influence — and civility — in the Legislature. That group, led by some of the state’s wealthiest business executives, political strategists like Karl Rove and erstwhile Republican elected officials including U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and Gov. Rick Perry, poured millions of dollars into Phelan’s campaign.
Phelan’s win was a victory for them, too. That well-heeled group of powerbrokers, who swept Texas Republicans into power in the 1990s, cracking a century of Democratic dominance, showed that despite recent attacks on their own reputations as RINOs, they still have sway within the state party.
However, it appears that Phelan may struggle to retain the Speakership, with very few Republican legislatures backing him throughout the campaign. Rep. Tom Oliverson of Cypress has already announced his candidacy for the role.

Skiboky Stora, 40, one of New York City’s alleged serial punchers, was indicted on hate crime charges on Tuesday.
Stora is accused of a string of “anti-female, anti-white, and antisemitic” attacks across the city.
“Skiboky Stora allegedly committed a series of hate-motivated incidents against several individuals based on their perceived gender, race and religion,” Manhattan District Attorney Bragg said in a statement announcing the charges.
Bragg continued, “Much of what defines our city is respect and acceptance of all people. Nobody should have to fear for their safety because of their identity. I thank our prosecutors for their unwavering commitment in seeking justice for these victims.”
Stora is accused of randomly attacking strangers from September 2023 through March 2024.

The most recent attack occurred on March 25, when a 23-year-old woman in the Chelsea neighborhood was hit, prosecutors said. That incident attracted widespread attention after the victim posted about it on TikTok, resulting in millions of views, and several other people described similar attacks in social media posts.
Influencer Halley McGookin — who goes by “Halley Kate” — made a tearful video describing the attack.
She was walking past Stora, when he allegedly punched her in the head, causing her to fall to the ground, Bragg said.
A Jewish couple was also attacked while walking their dogs in Union Square in November 2023.
In October, he had elbowed a “fair-skinned” woman who was walking near him.
The first assault linked to Stora was in September 2023, when he elbowed a 17-year-old white student in the neck.
Stora ran for city council last year.

In what many are calling a flagrant violation of personal freedoms and medical ethics, the Mayo Clinic has denied a life-saving lung transplant to a mother based solely on her decision to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine.
The patient, mother of renowned YouTuber Toby Turner, was deemed ineligible for the procedure due to her lack of full vaccination against the virus, according to The Publica.
Turner, widely known as Tobuscus, took to his X account last week to expose this blatant disregard for medical freedom.
“The Mayo Clinic rejected mom’s lung transplant due to lack of a full COVID ‘vaccination,’” he wrote. “Mayo with a side of…. Murder?!?!!”
According to a letter from Dr. Cassie Kennedy of the Mayo Clinic’s William J. von Liebig Center in Rochester, Minnesota, adherence to a full vaccination regimen is mandated for all prospective lung transplant recipients.
The clinic justified this policy by citing guidance from the American Society of Transplantation and the CDC.
The letter read, “Based on guidance from the American Society of Transplantation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we require all lung transplant patients receive full vaccination against COVID-19.”
“At this current time, you indicated that you have not received a COVID-19 vaccination. If you want to be considered for a lung evaluation, you will first need to obtain this vaccination and provide proof that it has been obtained.”

Turner’s followers were quick to voice their outrage at this blatant disregard for medical freedom and personal autonomy. They uniformly condemned the clinic for its callousness in turning away his mother in her hour of need just because she refused to take the COVID shots that have been proven to increase the number of COVID-19 infections.
One user wrote, “Mayo Clinic, who previously approved my referral & appointment request, completely denied me a follow-up appointment (having stroke-like episodes) within MINUTES after telling them I’ve since been diagnosed vax injured! Disgusting”
Another user wrote, “Unfortunately, they want us all dead. This only ends one way. And that’s us taking our country back from the criminal enterprise that has infected all levels of our government. And I’m pretty sure no one‘s voting their way out of any of this. Prayers for your mother.”
The Mayo Clinic, in a feeble attempt to justify its decision, claimed on its website that “because end-stage organ disease and immunosuppression weakens the body’s immune system,” transplant patients, both pre and post-op, are allegedly more at risk to catch COVID-19.
They recommended following guidance from the CDC for those who need to take extra precautions. However, in a twist of irony, the linked page has since been conveniently removed from the CDC’s website, according to The Publica.
This incident exposes an alarming trend where medical freedom is being trampled upon in the name of public health. The question now remains – how many more will have to suffer under such authoritarian measures before our society wakes up to this assault on personal liberty?
It can be recalled that Dr. Robert Redfield, the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has come forward with serious allegations against health agencies, claiming they suppressed information about significant side effects of COVID-19 vaccines in younger populations.
Dr. Robert Redfield worked as CDC director from 2018 to January 2021.
According to Dr. Redfield, the potential risks associated with the vaccines were deliberately downplayed, which has led to severe health complications for some individuals.
During a televised discussion with Chris Cuomo, a COVID vaccine-injured himself, Dr. Redfield expressed his concerns about the lack of transparency from major public health institutions such as the NIH, FDA, and CDC.
Dr. Redfield suggested the establishment of an independent review commission, akin to the post-9/11 commission, to thoroughly investigate the decisions made during the pandemic across both the previous and current administrations.
In addition, AstraZeneca admitted for the first time in a recent court filing that its COVID-19 vaccine causes rare side effects.
Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca admitted in court documents, as part of a class action lawsuit filed against them, that its COVID-19 vaccine can cause thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome, or TTS for short.
TTS is a rare medical condition when a person suffers from blood clots together with a low platelet count.
Currently, AstraZeneca is facing a massive class action suit by individuals who claim the AstraZeneca vaccine caused serious injuries or resulted in the death of a family member.

The Gateway Pundit reported that the jury will deliberate between 10 AM and 4:30 PM starting today. The prosecution has yet to define the alleged criminal act that President Trump committed. But it doesn’t matter. The court and its rigged jury are ready to find Trump guilty and send him to prison.

Over 800 residents who live near a Los Angeles County landfill have filed a lawsuit claiming the toxic fumes are poisoning them.
The mass lawsuit, brought on by those who live nearby, claims the Chiquita Canyon Landfill in Castaic’s endless emission of toxic fumes has “led to numerous health issues including respiratory symptoms, headaches, eye irritation, skin issues, and more,” according to a report from KTLA.
Chiquita Canyon, LLC, a private company, operates the 639-acre municipal landfill.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, beginning in May 2022, the landfill has experienced a “significant subsurface oxidation event that has grown in size and impact.”
“As of January 17, 2024, the reaction area was located approximately 1,000 feet from the nearest resident,” the EPA wrote in their report. The air quality is being impacted in a roughly seven-mile radius.
The report called the landfill an “imminent and substantial endangerment to nearby communities.”
The EPA explained, “The leachate seeping from the reaction area contains elevated levels of benzene, a hazardous substance. Benzene can adversely affect human health through air exposure or the consumption of benzene-contaminated water. The sub-surface reaction has caused a significant increase in leachate production, which CCL failed to properly manage as hazardous waste and has not been properly treating, storing, or disposing of the leachate.”
In 2023 alone, 6,800 noxious odor complaints were made by those in the community.
