The parents of a middle school student at St. Bonaventure Catholic School in Huntington Beach, California, allege that school principal Mary Flock would not let their student read his patriot speech.
Jimmy Heyward was set to deliver the speech at a forum for candidates for “Commissioner of School Spirit and Patriotism.”
His mother shared the details on a Change.org petition that is calling for Flock’s resignation.
According to the petition, Jimmy patterned his campaign around Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
“The Principal, Mary Flock, told him he needed to make changes to his speech,” the mother wrote. “She wanted everything in his speech regarding patriotism to be removed, even though ‘Patriotism’ was a part of the position’s title that he was running for. Ms Flock said that if he did not remove ALL parts about patriotism, he would not be able to read his speech with the rest of the candidates.”
In his speech, Jimmy shares his love for America and how it is “an honor” to live in the United States.
“I can promise to make pep rallies great again,” he concluded. “I will make the school spirit great again. I will make patriotism within SBS great again. And mostly, I will make SBS great again.”
The mother continued, “Jimmy stood up to her and said he wasn’t going to take the parts about patriotism out of his speech. [Mrs. Flock] then told him he would not be speaking. Jimmy sat on stage with all the other candidates while they said their speeches.”
According to his mother, when Jimmy refused to alter his speech, the principal “directed the kids hosting the rally to skip Jimmy entirely,” and her son “was on the stage for an hour in front of his peers/teachers/parents being completely humiliated by Mary Flock.”
When Jimmy’s father expressed his concern with the decision, school administrators told him to leave or they would call someone to make him leave.
The principal then proceeded to call the police, who, after hearing the story, told him he was free to stay and watch the rest of the event.
Jimmy’s parents are calling for Flock to step down through the Change.org petition. The petition had a goal of 1,500 signatures and has reached over 6,000.
And while Ms. Flock hoped to keep people from hearing Jimmy’s speech, it has more than four million views on X.

After news of Ms. Flock’s decision went viral, she briefly deleted her account on X.

President Trump was back in court on Tuesday morning for closing arguments in Alvin Bragg’s ‘hush money’ show trial in New York City.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicted Trump in April 2023 on 34 felony counts related to ‘hush payments’ he made to Stormy Daniels.
Trump was accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels, AKA, Stephanie Clifford, ‘hush payments’ through his then-attorney Michael Cohen in a scheme to silence her and stop the story about their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.
Alvin Bragg didn’t explain what exactly he wanted to convict Trump of in the charging documents. Bragg still has not clearly stated the predicate crimes. But it doesn’t matter. The court is ready to find Trump guilty and send him to prison.
Judge Merchan made it easier for the jury to convict Trump when he sided with Bragg’s prosecutors and ruled the jury does NOT need to unanimously agree on the “predicate” crime Trump committed.

Outlier or trend predictor? Mark Mitchell with Rasmussen Reports revealed initial results of a recent poll (yet to be published) that shows President Trump leading Joe Biden among Black voters in both head-to-head and five-way matchups. Mitchell told Steve Bannon on the War Room Tuesday morning that Trump leads Biden by one point, 39 percent to 38 percent in a one-on-one matchup. Trump takes an astonishing lead of 43 percent to 31 percent in a five-way matchup with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr garnering 12 percent support among Black Voters.

Mitchell said the questions were asked as part of a monthly immigration survey sponsored by NumbersUSA. The previous survey had Biden leading Trump among Black voters 61 percent to 21 percent. Mitchell noted that subset polling can be off and that the numbers could swing the other way next month. Last month’s Rasmussen numbers were matched by a recent New York Times/Siena College poll that showed Biden leading Trump 66 percent to 23 percent among Black voters, a substantial improvement from the 2020 election where Biden topped Trump among Black voters 87 percent to 12 percent.
Mitchell also said that among 18 to 39 year-olds, Trump leads Biden by 3 points in a two-way, five points in a five-way matchup without giving specifics.

The boardwalk in the shore town of Wildwood was closed just after midnight after police received an “irrepressible number” of complaints about an “extremely large number of young adults & juveniles,” according to a report from the New York Post.
The report explains:
City officials did not cite a specific incident that led them to shut down the boardwalk, but claimed that cops were addressing “civil unrest.” Conditions “began to deteriorate despite the presence and efforts of local police officers and multiple mutual aid law enforcement agencies,” the statement adds.
Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr. said that the city had declared a “state of emergency” – which allows it to send an abnormally large police presence to the area – and blamed the situation on “unruly” teens.
“Wildwood will not tolerate unruly, undisciplined, unparented children nor will we stand by while the laws of the state tie the hands of the police,” Troiano, Jr said in a press release.
