Dems Want Congressman Who Tried to Take Away Trump’s Secret Service Protection to Investigate Assassination Attempt

A bipartisan panel is forming in congress to investigate the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and Democrats want Rep. Bennie Thompson to be part of it.

Thompson tried to take away Trump’s Secret Service protection. He also served on the January 6th commission.

Thompson doesn’t belong anywhere near this investigation.

House Democrats are pushing to have the former Jan. 6 Committee chairman who sought to strip former President Donald Trump of his security detail earlier this year serve on a bipartisan commission investigating the recent assassination attempt.

On Tuesday, Punchbowl News reported that former Jan. 6 Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., is one top candidate Democrats are considering for an appointment to the 11-person panel established by House leadership.

“House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries can choose five Democrats to serve along with six Republicans,” Punchbowl reported. “Democrats are still sorting through potential candidates. But one name we’ve heard is Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.). Thompson is the top Democrat on the House Homeland Security panel and chaired the Jan. 6 Committee.”…

The Mississippi lawmaker wrote in a post on X he was “glad the former President is safe” following a would-be assassin’s bullet tearing through Trump’s ear at a Pennsylvania rally. Trump miraculously survived the assassination attempt with a last-second tilt of the head to read a chart on immigration.

Democrats also want Rep. Dan Goldman, another Trump hater involved.

The office of a House Democrat who played a prominent role in former President Trump’s first impeachment is now pushing back against GOP-fueled criticism that he should not be on the task force investigating the attempted assassination of the former president.

Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., who came under fire last year for saying that Trump “has to be eliminated,” is among the Democrats being considered for a place on the bipartisan commission to study the July 13 shooting at Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania, rally, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital.

“As someone with a lifelong commitment to democracy and the rule of law, Congressman Goldman immediately clarified a misstatement from last November to emphasize his strong condemnation of all political violence. The Congressman demonstrated with pointed questioning during congressional hearings last week that the Secret Service must be held accountable for its unacceptable security lapse, and he is determined to ensure such a failure never happens again,” Goldman’s spokesperson Madison Andrus told Fox News Digital.

Republicans must push back on these choices in the strongest possible terms.

Simply say no.

In remarks Saturday evening at President Trump’s campaign rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Trump’s running mate Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio scorched presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris for questioning his and Trump’s loyalty, saying, “What the hell have you done to question our loyalty to the United States of America?”

When Trump announced Vance as his running mate, Harris (who was still Joe Biden’s running mate) posted a video on July 17 saying Vance would not be loyalty to the country, just loyal to Trump:

“Donald Trump has picked his new running mate: J.D. Vance. He will be loyal only to Trump, not to our country. If elected, he will help implement the extreme Project 2025 plan for a second Trump term. We’re not going to let that happen.”

Vance has responded to Harris’ disloyalty charge at several rallies since then, but tonight’s response was ferocious, with the capacity crowd at the up to 7,000 seat Herb Brooks National Hockey Center loudly cheering Vance.

“I saw the other day, Kamala Harris questioned my loyalty to this country. That’s the word she used, “loyalty.” And it’s an interesting word (Semper fi), loyalty. Because there is no greater sign of disloyalty to this country than what Kamala Harris has done at our southern border.

And I’d like to ask the vice president what she has done to question my loyalty to this country? I served in the United States Marine Corps. I went to Iraq for this country. I built a business for this country. And my running mate took a bullet for this country.

So my question to Kamala Harris is, “What the hell have you done to question our loyalty to the United States of America?”

And the answer my friends is, nothing. So let’s send a message to the media. Let’s send a message to Kamala Harris. Let’s send a message to every hard working patriot from Minnesota, across the country, we are ready to have President Donald J. Trump back and we’re gonna work our tails off to make sure it happens. God bless you all! Thank you. And thank you for having me, Minnesota, a great state!”

Food shortages have hit the Paris Olympics, with some athletes complaining that the menu has more woke on it than competition food.

“They are saying the Games are more sustainable and there is way more plant-based food but sometimes if you go at peak times it’s challenging to even get a piece of chicken,” the Times of London quoted one British athlete whose name was withheld as saying.

Andy Anson, chief executive of the British Olympic Association said the food “is not adequate.”

“There are not enough of certain foods: eggs, chicken, certain carbohydrates, and then there is the quality of the food, with raw meat being served to athletes,” Anson said.

“They have got to improve it over the next couple of days dramatically,” he said.

He said that British athletes are shunning the main dining hall.

“Our athletes have decided they would rather go and eat in our performance lodge in Clichy, so we are having to get another chef to come over as the demand is far exceeding what we thought it would be,” he said.

“The athletes are not going there just to eat their lunch, they are packing meals for their dinner as they don’t want to go into the athlete restaurant to eat. So we are trying to make sure our athletes have an advantage by having more food. It is the biggest issue at the moment,” he said.

A French-language publication said Sodexo, which is feeding the athletes, has said it will make more food available that meshes with what athletes need.

The report also said that the athlete said the food at this year’s Olympics is far worse than in Tokyo where the Games were last held.

On the website of the Games, the Paris Olympics vowed to redefine how food is served at an Olympics, with twice as much plant-based food as ever before.

“What if the Paris 2024 Games were an opportunity to discover a new way of eating in stadiums and sports events? Paris 2024 intends to use the Games as an opportunity to highlight how creative and sustainable food can be produced at a major international event, as is highlighted in its ‘Food Vision,’” the site proclaimed.

Writing on Outkick, Mark Harris offered a summary of the food fight.

“In other words, Olympic officials are trying to force premiere athletes into eating vegan meals because ‘carbon footprints’ are more important than providing adequate food options for those who rely on animal proteins,” he said.

The website SwimSwam noted that food is not the only issue.

Crowded buses and a lack of transportation means that swimmers who want to go the 10 miles from the Olympic village to the pool where swimming events take place could face a two-hour trip.

President Donald Trump was in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday to speak at a Bitcoin conference.

Thousands lined the streets in downtown Nashville to greet Trump as he arrived in the city.

During his speech, the crowd went nuts when he said he would fire SEC Chairman Gary Gensler ‘on day one.’

Trump told the crowd, “On day one, I will fire Gary Gensler and appoint a new SEC chairman,” Trump said as the crowd roared their approval.

Seemingly surprised by the powerful reaction, Trump said, as the crowd chanted, Trump, Trump, Trump, “I didn’t know he was that unpopular.”

The crowd goes wild at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference when President Trump vows to fire SEC Chairman Gary Gensler ‘on day one.’

Firing up the crowd even more, he added, “Let me say it again. On day one, I will fire Gary Gensler.”

“I will appoint a new SEC Chairman who believes America should build the future, not block the future, which is what they are doing.”

“And Kamala Harris wants to make him Treasury Secretary. And that’s not good.”

Kamala Harris is fast becoming an opposition researcher’s dream and one resurfaced video in particular is raising eyebrows online.

Video footage has resurfaced on X of showing Harris speaking at an event at Reading Area Community College in Berks County, Pennsylvania back in September 2023 where she brings up a term called “climate anxiety” and inferred that young climate alarmists had told her that not having children may make sense.

HARRIS: I have heard young leaders come and talk to me about a term they have called “climate anxiety,” which is fear of the future and the unknown of whether it makes sense for you to even think about having children.

 

Harris goes on to say that “climate anxiety” also makes people wonder whether it makes sense to buy a home as well.

The speech was a stop in her national “Fight for Our Freedoms” college tour, which was touting the Biden regime’s efforts to focus on issues that “disproportionately” impact young people across the country.

The issues emphasized during the tour included abortion, gun control, climate action, voting, gay rights, and fighting so-called “book bans.”

While it’s unclear whether Harris was suggesting people should not have children, it was crystal clear she was entertaining some of the most extreme elements of the climate alarmist movement.

X owner Elon Musk called Harris an “extinctionist,” saying that embracing such thoughts would lead to a “defacto holocaust for all of humanity.”

Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, also weighed in with some pointed thoughts of his own.

“It’s almost like these people don’t want young people starting families or something,” he wrote. “Really weird stuff.”

The response from other X users was universally negative as well.

Having someone like Harris in the White House is indeed a dangerous thought, and she will undoubtedly try to implement the most radical parts of the left’s agenda, starting with climate change.
