President Trump’s lawyers asked a federal court to intervene in Alvin Bragg’s ‘hush money’ case following the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling.

In July the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that Trump has absolute immunity for his core Constitutional powers.

The so-called evidence Alvin Bragg used to indict Trump included acts during his time as president.

For example, Alvin Bragg alleged Trump invited National Inquirer CEO David Pecker to the White House in 2017 to thank him for not publishing harmful tabloid stories during the 2016 election.

Trump asked a federal court to intervene following the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling to pave the way for the verdict to be overturned.

“In Thursday’s filing, Trump’s lawyers said moving the case to federal court following his May 30 conviction will give him an “unbiased forum, free from local hostilities” to address those issues. If the case is moved to federal court, Trump lawyers wrote, they will then seek to have the verdict overturned and the case dismissed.” AP reported.

“The ongoing proceedings will continue to cause direct and irreparable harm to President Trump — the leading candidate in the 2024 Presidential election — and voters located far beyond Manhattan,” Trump lawyers Todd Blanche and Emil Bove wrote, according to AP.

Donald Trump asked a federal court late Thursday to intervene in his hush money criminal case, seeking a pathway to overturn his conviction and indefinitely delay his sentencing scheduled for next month.

The former president’s lawyers asked the U.S. District Court in Manhattan to take control of the New York City criminal case, arguing that the state-level prosecution violated Trump’s constitutional rights and ran afoul of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity.

Earlier this year Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts after he was accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels, AKA, Stephanie Clifford, ‘hush payments’ through his then-attorney Michael Cohen in a scheme to silence her and stop the story about their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg alleged Trump committed fraud because the payment was labeled “legal fees.”

To make things worse, the hush money case was assigned to far-left conflicted judge Juan Merchan.

President Trump’s lawyers repeatedly demanded Merchan recuse himself over conflicts of interest involving his daughter Loren Merchan.

Loren Merchan’s political firm made tens of millions of dollars off of her father’s case against Trump.

Earlier this month Merchan rejected a recusal request for the third time in Trump’s “hush money” case.

Trump’s sentencing in the New York case is scheduled for September 18.

An Iowa community is outraged after a police officer’s killing of a beloved pet right in front of its family, and the subsequent revelation that this isn’t the first pet the cop has killed in recent months.

The situation unfolded on the evening of August 21, when an officer with the Davenport Police Department was dispatched to a call in reference to four dogs running wild.

The caller stated the beasts appeared aggressive and were attempting to cross a fence to get their dog, according to a DPD statement obtained by WQAD-TV.

The statement says the unnamed officer arrived on scene and saw two children with an off-leash dog, and advised them to secure the animal.

After parking his car the officer was approached by the dog, which he claims acted in an aggressive and threatening manner.

“The dog charged me at full speed, barking aggressively at me,” the officer’s after-action report states.

“I overheard the adult woman say ‘oh no.’ I began to back up, holding my left hand out in hopes the dog would catch my scent and back away from me. The pitch of the dog’s bark changed to a threatening bark.”

According to the officer, the animal then went on the offensive against him.

“The dog continued barking at me, baring its teeth at me,” he said. “I observed the dog to be salivating from the mouth. The dog lunged at me multiple times, snapping its teeth at me in an attempt to bite me.”

After apparently dodging the attacks, the officer says he felt threatened enough to engage the dog.

“I drew my service handgun and continued to back up,” he said in the report. “The dog lunged at me as I was backing up, trying to bite me. I discharged my firearm twice, striking the dog.”

Dan Hesseltine, the dog’s owner, is not convinced it was necessary to kill the animal. Instead, he questioned the courage of the offending officer in a town hall organized just hours after DPD released bodycam footage of the shooting.

The community rallied behind him as others questioned the city and police department for the response to the killing.

“Our dog Myst was more than just a pet,” Hesseltine told gathered residents. “He was a cherished member of our family, bringing us joy, comfort and loyalty.

“He was taken from us [by] a cowardly police officer who valued his own safety over ours.”

Hesseltine posted footage of the shooting to his X account, showing his family, son and nephew were downrange when the officer opened fire at Myst.

Unfortunately, this is not the first pet this officer has killed.

According to TMZ, the very same officer ran over a dog in an alleyway before radioing in the incident and telling others he “smoked it.”

The owner of this dog, who was also present at the time of his pet’s demise, was chided by the officer.

“That’s why you gotta have your dog on a leash, bro,” the officer told the grieving owner.

The Davenport Police Department says the officer’s actions were deemed “lawful” in both cases after a review of all the facts — but that hasn’t dissuaded the collective anger of the community.

Kamala struggled to drum up local support since a famous singer wasn’t available to perform in Savannah Thursday night.

She resorted to busing in support.

Some people were bused in from four hours away.

“I was in Atlanta and I heard that the VP was gonna be in Savannah, so I decided to just kind of beeline over here and check it out,” one man said.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s VP pick, Nicole Shanahan, has launched a direct assault on the epidemic plaguing the political landscape: Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).

The ad opens with a stark question: “Are you or your loved ones suffering from illnesses such as TDS?”

It paints a vivid picture of individuals who have become so consumed by their hatred for Trump that they are willing to overlook critical issues facing the country, including skyrocketing inflation, rampant illegal immigration, and corporate corruption.

The message is clear: this obsession with Trump has turned rational discourse into an echo chamber of anger and denial. The ad suggests that many Americans are more focused on vilifying Trump than on engaging with the real challenges that affect their daily lives.

The ad introduces the concept of “Independence,” presenting it as a remedy for those afflicted by TDS. It encourages viewers to break free from the chains of mainstream media narratives and embrace critical thinking.

Throughout the ad, two narrators, described as former TDS sufferers, share their stories of awakening.

The first admits to having once believed that “Donald Trump and the movement he has encouraged are a threat to democracy,” but now, with the help of “Independence,” recognizes that the mainstream media is controlled by a “corrupt oligarchy” that censors free speech and undermines democracy.

The second former sufferer confesses to having “blindly hated” whoever their party opposed, without regard for facts or policy. Thanks to “Independence,” they claim to have rediscovered a commitment to democratic principles and the well-being of the country.

The ad concludes with a sharp warning that “Independence may not be for everyone,” especially those who enjoy being “lied to about your president’s cognitive abilities,” support “Orwellian totalitarianism,” or are excited about “communist fiscal policy.”

It lists the “side effects” of Independence, which include “an awakening of rational thought,” the ability to “successfully identify propaganda,” and a newfound “love of democracy.”

Health experts are raising red flags as what is commonly known as “sloth fever” has gained a foothold in the United States.

The Oropouche virus has been detected in two states, according to CBS.

Florida officials said they have spotted 30 cases, all connected with travelers from Cuba.

One case was diagnosed in New York state, also linked to travel from Cuba.

According to The Washington Post, Europe has had 19 cases this summer, with  12 in Spain, five in Italy and two in Germany. One case involved travel to Brazil; all the rest were linked to travelers returning from Cuba.

According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as of August, more than 8,000 cases of sloth fever have been confirmed in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, and Peru.

The CDC said that “two deaths and vertical transmission associated with fetal death and possible congenital malformations in Brazil have raised concerns about the threat of Oropouche virus to human health.”

One expert stressed that pregnant women may face the worst dangers of infection.

“There is much we still do not know about the Oropouche virus but one of the main concerns arising from the current outbreak is its potential harmful effects on unborn fetuses,” Enny Paixao, associate professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, said in a statement.

“The risks of Oropouche virus infection to fetal development remain uncertain and require closer scrutiny,” she wrote.

The CDC said it is watching the spread of the virus.

“We want to be at high alert and respond quickly to make sure that we are protecting the health of pregnant moms everywhere,” CDC Director Mandy Cohen told CBS.

Dr. Céline Gounder, a CBS medical contributor, noted, “We’re still at the very beginning of understanding that virus.”

The CDC said on its website that humans contract the disease after being bitten by midges, a small form of fly, or mosquitos.

The CDC said most people infected have “ fever, myalgia, and headache” and also suffer from “arthralgia, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, and rash.” Some have had recurring symptoms.

The CDC said pregnant women should consider postponing trips to areas where there are outbreaks of sloth fever.

The agency said it is “currently developing a plan for rapid detection and response to Oropouche virus disease cases in the United States.”
