It’s like they couldn’t even make it any more obvious for us.

In an election where razor-thin margins could decide who controls the White House, the Senate and the House, the Los Angeles Times reported that “a wave of new U.S. citizens” is “being sworn in across the country as immigration authorities approve citizenship applications at the fastest speed in a decade.”

That might seem like a curious coincidence, as indeed the L.A. Times insisted it was: “The Biden administration says the uptick in new citizens is due to efforts to reduce a backlog of applications that began during the Trump administration and exploded amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” the paper reported Thursday from a naturalization ceremony in Riverside, California.

It added: “Immigration officials said the timing is not driven by the election or any political agenda.”

However, even the Times had to note that “American flags lined the stage as messages conveying the immigrants’ new power played on a large screen.”

“Today, I am an American. Today, I am a citizen of the country I serve. Today, I can register to vote,” the message read.

Just coincidental. Move along, folks. Seriously, move along or else this becomes disinformation, as the Times made clear:

“Former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies have long repeated baseless claims that Democrats are admitting immigrants into the U.S. for political gain and allowing them to vote unlawfully,” the Times said in the piece.

“The issue even made its way into the government spending bill this month when House Speaker Mike Johnson tried unsuccessfully to insert a GOP proposal to require states to obtain proof of U.S. citizenship when people register to vote.”

“This is not part of some master conspiracy to flood the country with new Democratic voters. There’s a lot of statistics that show many immigrants share more in common with Republican values,” said Xiao Wang, the co-founder of a company that helps immigrants navigate the system.

This may be true, but with 4 million immigrants gaining citizenship since the 2020 election and citizenship applications being processed at what counts as a blinding pace given government bureaucracy, those quoted by the Times also couldn’t help but notice how these immigrants — especially in border states — might tip election scales, even if California isn’t up for grabs.

“In Arizona, we keep talking about how there’s a 10,000-vote margin of victory,” said Nicole Melaku, the executive director of the National Partnership for New Americans.

A few paragraphs down: “New citizens broadly skew Democratic, though the National Partnership’s poll showed a range of political leanings. About 54% of respondents said they’d vote for Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, while 38% said they’d vote for Trump.”

Furthermore: “The average processing time for a citizenship application was cut in half from a record high of 11.5 months in 2021 to 4.9 months this fiscal year, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services data through July 31. A decade ago in 2014, it also took 4.9 months on average to process a citizenship application … The speedier processing is the result of an effort by the Biden administration to cut through the backlog.”

So, frontloading the story was talk of “no political agenda” and “baseless claims” by the GOP about demographics being destiny for the Democrats. Wade down a few paragraphs, and you get the “yes, but…”

And it’s not like people didn’t notice — including Elon Musk, head of Tesla, SpaceX, and X/Twitter:

Right, but you can’t say it’s obvious. Unless, of course, you’re well-established enough that you can bear the brunt of the consequences and are beyond caring what people think. (See: Musk, Elon.)

It isn’t conspiratorial to notice that the attention and the resources of the federal government, such as they may be, seem to be going certain places. Speaking of “baseless claims,” let’s revisit the situation in Springfield, Ohio — where a town overwhelmed by Haitian migrants who received Temporary Protected Status mostly under Joe Biden’s administration have overwhelmed both city and state services and the governor was left pleading for the Biden administration to help.

In 2021, Harris bragged about fast-tracking TPS for Haitian migrants, presumably speaking on behalf of the Biden administration. Three years later, we have the governor of Ohio begging D.C. for money to deal with the crisis and weird, probably untrue stories spreading around regarding the effect on house pets — and, on the other side of the country, a feel-good story about how the feds have somehow managed to find the resources to fast-track citizenship for a group which just so happens to vote heavily Democratic.

These aren’t “baseless claims.” It’s noticing what gets attention and making bedrock assumptions about why it gets attention. Perhaps it’s overt, perhaps it’s just a matter of subliminal preferences. Fast-tracking citizenship while ignoring Springfield or the border crisis or ballooning crime rates or anything like that involves making a choice of what to focus on.

Assumptions based on a government’s priorities don’t involve the invocation “baseless claims.” It’s merely noticing the inconvenient.

One of the most chilling findings are that most of these migrant children are begging to be sent back to their home countries, yet the federal U.S. government sends them to unvetted and unfamiliar sponsors against their own will. Yes, this has been confirmed to be true.

From when Border Patrol receives the unaccompanied minors, to when they are processed in the United States, then shipped to an unvetted sponsor in the United States against their will, these children are disappearing forever never to be seen from or heard from ever again. The head of Haiti’s presidential transition became an unexpected ‘star’ at Thursday’s United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York City when he suffered a humiliating mishap during his race-baiting speech.

As the Miami Herald reported, Edgard Leblanc Fils, the head of Haiti’s presidential transition, blamed past prejudices for Haiti’s grave predicament and demanded global reparations as payment. Fils is a former Haitian senator who was appointed to lead Council in the midst of Haiti’s ongoing chaos following the assassination of Haiti’s President Jovenel Moise in July 2021.

“Haiti is today the greatest victim of a historical injustice, which has not only delayed our development but saddled our people with a burden,” Fils told the U.N. General Assembly.

“We demand recognition of the moral and historic debt and implementation of justice,” he added.

Fils speech then took a humorous turn. After hailing Haiti for supposedly inspiring other nations to throw off their “yolk of unbearable colonialism,” Fils demanded justice and respect for his nation before pausing to drink some water.

But instead of using the pitcher next to him to pour water into a cup, Fils instead decided to take big swig straight from the pitcher itself. As a result, he ended up spilling water all over himself in front of the entire world.

The Miami Herald notes Fils also trashed President Trump and J.D. Vance during his speech for raising sharing reports from Springfield. Ohio residents regarding Haitian migrants eating wildlife and pets.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Springfield residents have alleged Haitians in their town are “grabbing up ducks by their necks, decapitating them, and walking off with them to eat.” Others revealed how the massive influx of immigrants, thanks to border czar Kamala Harris, has drained Springfield’s resources and turned a once-safe city into a crime-ridden hell.

One resident even claimed she spotted a cat hanging from a branch and being carved up for food by Haitian immigrants. Reports have also emerged that American veterans who have put their lives on the line are getting denied benefits while Haitians sponge off the taxpayers for absolutely nothing.

“The active participation of Haitian immigrants at various levels of life in the United States is tangible and significant,” Fils stated. “In this regard, the passions that naturally arise during an election campaign should never serve as a pretext for xenophobia or racism in a country forged by immigrants from all countries, and which has become a model of democracy for the world.”

The iconic British film actress Maggie Smith has passed away at 89.

The news was confirmed by her sons Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, who released a statement confirming that she had “passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday 27 September.”

“An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end. She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother,” they wrote.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital for their care and unstinting kindness during her final days.”

“We thank you for all your kind messages and support and ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”

Borin December 1934, in Ilford, England, Smith’s acting career spanned over six decades. She was best known for her roles in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, which earned her an Academy Award, and as Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter series.

Smith was also celebrated for her extensive work in theatre and television, notably in the award winning period drama Downton Abbey.

Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including two Oscars and several BAFTAs, making her one of the most celebrated actresses of her time.

Smith’s Downton Abbey co-star Hugh Boneville was among those leading the tributes.

“Anyone who ever shared a scene with Maggie will attest to her sharp eye, sharp wit and formidable talent,” he said on her passing.

“She was a true legend of her generation and thankfully will live on in so many magnificent screen performances. My condolences to her boys and wider family.”

Tributes to Smith also immediately poured in across social media.

Recent data shows that over 40% of adults and 20% of children are now classified as obese, with severe obesity affecting 9.7% of the population.

Obesity means being roughly 20-30% heavier than a healthy weight for one’s height, while extreme obesity can be 75-100% above this ideal weight.

This means that, according to the latest data, nearly 10% of Americans are approaching double their recommended healthy weight.

Liberal policies are making Americans fat. Liberals pushed for lockdowns, and the result? The average weight gain among the 42% of adults who got fatter during lockdown was 29 lbs.

Lockdowns also permanently increased the number of Americans relying on fast food, takeout, delivery, and processed meals.

They closed gyms, forcing people to live online, and now the damage is clear—not just in skyrocketing obesity rates and the decline in physical activity, but in other areas too, like kids falling two years behind in school.

The effects of these policies are now undeniable. Liberals are also behind efforts to eliminate school PE classes and competitive sports, arguing that they are racist, promote testosterone and masculinity, or hurt the feelings of kids who don’t perform as well.

Liberals are also fixated on higher obesity rates among minorities, claiming racism or inequality is to blame rather than personal choices.

They push the concept of “food deserts“—low-income areas without grocery stores—ignoring the fact that liberal policies on looting and shoplifting have driven stores out of inner-city neighborhoods.

Interestingly, they don’t seem to blame racism for Southern whites being heavier than Northern whites. And, as usual, their solutions involve more nonsense legislation, government spending, socialism, higher taxes, and infringements on personal liberties.

Only 23% of adults get enough exercise, and the numbers for children are even worse. Schools across the U.S. are cutting back PE programs or reducing them to just twice a week, leaving kids with only 10-20 minutes of exercise per session, which is nowhere near enough.

Seventy-five percent of teens aren’t getting the physical activity they need.

And, as usual, liberals are going to make the obesity problem even worse. They’ve concluded that kids don’t participate in sports because they don’t “feel” comfortable due to “peer victimization.”

On top of that, they’re pushing to end fitness testing in schools, claiming it causes “body shaming.” Rather than addressing the real issues, they focus on pushing their political agendas, like blaming climate change for obesity, or implementing irrelevant policies such as creating creating “nut-free campuses” or restricting advertising to kids.

This, of course, killed off Saturday morning cartoons by banning ads for fast food, candy, and toys. This policy did nothing to address obesity but did increase the amount of time kids spend online, further contributing to the obesity problem.

Recent data highlights that states like Louisiana, Mississippi, and West Virginia are seeing some of the highest obesity rates, and these are also the states with the greatest concentration of fast food restaurants.

Louisiana tops the list for poor eating habits, with an obesity rate of 40.1%, the highest density of fast food chains at 8.83 per 10,000 people, and an average daily sugar intake of 17.6 teaspoons. Mississippi follows closely with a 39.5% obesity rate and an average daily sugar consumption of 20 teaspoons.

Kentucky ranks third, where residents lead the nation in sugar intake with 21.2 teaspoons daily.

Delaware, while not leading in fast food density, makes the list due to its high alcohol consumption (4.01 gallons per capita), cementing its place among the states with the poorest eating habits.

Black and Hispanic adults, face higher rates of obesity. In 38 states, more than 35% of Black adults are classified as obese, while Hispanic populations show similar trends in 34 states.

Liberals argue this is due to limited access to healthy food, but in reality, every American has the freedom to choose what they buy at the grocery store.

Part of the misleading data supporting claims that poor people don’t have access to healthy food comes from health myths, like the belief that healthy food must come from specialized stores like Whole Foods with organic or green labels.

This is nonsense. You can make a healthy salad from vegetables at any grocery store, regardless of labels, and it will still be far better for you than a plate of French fries.

The real issue lies in education, awareness, and personal responsibility, not access. And personal responsibility is something liberals try to remove from the equation.

The obesity rate, shocking as it is, is being undercounted. Recommended healthy weights are being quietly increased as society begins to accept heavier and heavier people as normal.

With the left campaigning against fat-shaming and concepts like “body nazism,” obesity is becoming normalized. We’re seeing it everywhere—even in the opening ceremony of the Olympics, which once represented the pinnacle of physical fitness, now featuring a morbidly obese woman.

If even the Olympics, an institution that should embody health and fitness, can no longer promote slim, fit bodies and healthy lifestyles, we are truly heading down a dangerous path as a society.
