Argentina’s President Javier Milei announced on Wednesday, 30, that he had fired his foreign minister, Diana Mondino, in yet another decisive move against communism and leftist policies.

Milei’s decision followed Mondino’s vote in favour of lifting the US economic embargo on Cuba’s communist dictatorship. At the United Nations General Assembly in NY, Argentina supported a resolution to end the embargo, a measure that would directly benefit the Cuban regime. The resolution passed with 187 votes in favour, two against – cast by the U.S and Israel – and one abstention from Moldova.

Mondino’s firing was announced in a formal statement from the Argentine president’s office on “X”. The statement also reaffirmed Argentina’s commitment to freedom and opposition to Cuban communism. Milei appointed Argentina’s current ambassador to the United States, Gerardo Werthein, to take Mondino’s place as foreign minister.

In the official announcement, Milei’s administration declared:

“Argentina is undergoing a period of profound change, and this new phase requires that our diplomatic corps reflect the values of freedom, sovereignty, and individual rights that characterize Western democracies. In this regard, our country categorically opposes the Cuban dictatorship and remains firm in promoting a foreign policy that condemns all regimes that perpetuate human rights abuses and restrict individual freedoms.”

Hours after Mondino’s firing, Florida Republican Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar, herself a Cuban exile’s daughter, spoke with President Milei over the phone. Salazar praised the Argentine leader for his swift decision.

According to Congresswoman Salazar, Milei expressed that Mondino’s vote in favor of Cuba at the UN was a “betrayal of Argentina.” She thanked Milei for his prompt action and for reaffirming his stance against Cuban communism.

In a video posted on X, Salazar addressed President Milei directly:

“We thank you deeply, Mr. President of Argentina, for once again showing that you are the moral compass of this hemisphere. You are proving that with democratic values, freedom, and a market economy, prosperity can be brought to the people”.

During his remarks at the rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin today, Trump brought the house down explaining how he ended up on stage in an orange safety vest after driving a garbage truck.

He said he was looking to put his jacket back on once he arrived at the venue but someone on his staff said that the vest made him look thinner, so he decided to keep it on. The crowd went wild.

One of Trump’s greatest strengths is is sense of humor and he showed it in this moment.

A day after President Biden insinuated that Mr. Trump’s supporters were human “garbage,” Mr. Trump walked off his airplane here in this midwestern battleground state sporting a garbage worker’s vest.

He then climbed into a garbage truck with “Make America Great Again” emblazoned on its side…

At his rally, Mr. Trump marveled at how quickly people could stencil the side of the garbage truck with his campaign logos and slogan and how the tough first step was needing to climb into the vehicle’s cabin.

He also said he was hesitant to wear the vest until his handlers assured him the vest “actually makes you look thinner.”

“And they got me. I said I want to wear it on stage,” Mr. Trump said, sparking laughter from the crowd. “I may never wear a blue jacket again.”

Trump is surging in Virginia and his competitiveness in the state is now reflected in two separate polls.

This is hugely significant because, as we have repeatedly pointed out, the last time a Republican won a presidential election since George W. Bush in 2004.

A win for Trump in Virginia would be indicative of a landslide style win for Trump.

A week after a voter survey showed that Virginia could pick a Republican for president for the first time in 20 years, a second poll, out today, backed those results in what would be a boost for the comeback campaign of former President Donald Trump.

Rasmussen Reports shared a poll today that found Trump was trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by just two points, 48%-46%.

A Trump victory would be a shock to Democrats in Virginia, who have been so confident of a Harris win that they have largely ignored the commonwealth where Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) is cruising to reelection, as are several House Democratic candidates.

Trump is planning to stop in Virginia this week as part of an intensified, 11th-hour campaign schedule. Harris supporters are also turning up the heat in Virginia, which has voted for every Democratic presidential nominee since former President George W. Bush won the state in 2004.

CNN’s data analyst Harry Enten seems to be trying to prepare his network’s viewers for a Kamala Harris loss.

At one point this week, he noted that the incumbent party historically has not won when there are so many people who feel the country is on the wrong track.

He also talked about the huge increase in Republican voter registrations in the swing states.

CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten broke down the signs pointing to a potential victory for former President Trump next week.

Enten mentioned that the fraction of people satisfied with the country’s current direction, President Biden’s current approval numbers, and strong voter registration numbers among Republicans in swing states are all things that signal Trump’s re-election next week.

“If Republicans win come next week – Donald Trump wins come next week, the signs all along will have been obvious,” Enten told CNN anchor John Berman on Wednesday morning.

Enten began by talking about how Vice President Kamala Harris’ chances of winning are lower as she’s the incumbent at a time when only 28 percent of Americans think the country is on the right track.

He said that in the modern political era – since 1980 – the average rate of Americans who believe the country is on the right track when the incumbent loses is 25 percent. The average rate when the incumbent wins is 42 percent.

Mentioning the 28 percent number, he said, “It doesn‘t look anything – anything – like this 42%… So, the bottom line is, very few Americans think the country is on the right track at this particular point. It tracks much more with when the incumbent party loses than when it wins.”
