To be publicly named – and shamed – for having a longstanding ‘friendship’ with late pedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein is like a bad smell that won’t go away.

Take, for instance, top banker Jes Staley, a high-flying professional in the finance world that has had his career derailed by his long and extremely problematic relationship with Epstein.

He was forced to resign as Barclays’ CEO under the weight of the Epstein scandal brought about when UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) concluded their two-year investigation on him.

In a previous report here on TGP, I wrote:

“Former JPMorgan Chase top executive and Ex-Barclays CEO Jes Staley is facing a lifetime ban from senior roles in financial services, as well as a 1.8 million pound ($2.21 million) fine by UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The ban and the fine are for allegedly misleading the FCA over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Reuters reported:

But before he could even do that, he had to straighten his legal disputes with his former bank JPMorgan, which he did by reached a confidential settlement in September 2023, as part of an effort to resolve legal disputes tied to the bank’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

So, today, in UK court, Staley’s lawyers have argued that he did not mislead the UK’s financial watchdog over his relationship with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

This London court case is an attempt by the former banker to ‘restore his reputation’.

Reuters reported:

“Staley appeared in court flanked by his lawyers as his appeal against the Financial Conduct Authority’s intention to ban him from working in the UK finance industry indefinitely, and fine him 1.8 million-pounds ($2.3 million), began at London’s Upper Tribunal.

The 68-year-old will next week be cross-examined over his relationship with Epstein, whose 2019 arrest for sex trafficking minors and subsequent death in custody brought scrutiny on the late financier’s many high-profile associates.”

Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett has described Donald Trump as “an enemy to the United States.”

In an interview with on MSNBC’s Alex Witt Reports, Crockett weighed in on the ongoing dispute between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over bringing an end to the war with Russia.

She explained:

Unfortunately, we have someone that is occupying the White House and as far as I’m concerned, he is an enemy to the United States. He swore an oath just like the rest of us.

But right now, when you are literally putting us at risk, all because of what? Because you want to convince your followers that you should be a dictator too, that you should never leave the White House, because you don’t believe that elections should take place — I don’t really understand what is going on. I don’t know what it’s going to take to get people to wake up.

We are not living in a safe country when we decide that we are going to weaken our national security by getting rid of those that are watching our nuclear stockpile, by giving everything over to a private friend known as Elon Musk.

We are getting rid of all of the inspector generals and so there’s literally a lack of checks and balances all around us.

Having first entered Congress during the 2022 midterm elections, Crockett has styled herself as one of the most vocal and intellectually challenged members of the anti-Trump resistance during his second term in office.

Last month, she said in an interview with The Breakfast Club that she was “rooting” for Canada and Mexico over the United States because Donald Trump was threatening them with tariffs.

”They’ve been the ones to call it out. The fact that I am rooting for Canada and I’m rooting for Mexico a lot is really wild,” she said.

“But they are really the ones that are speaking truth to power right now.”

“They can see what it is, and they were like, we are not messing with this crazy regime from Mar-a-Lago and basically calling them thugs.”

Officials in the Fresno Unified School District in California, with 71,000 students, have set up a number of academic support programs for them.

Only they are “marketed” only to black students.

Which has prompted the Pacific Legal Foundation to launch a legal challenge to the district for “unlawfully gating” access to the student help programs.

“It is unfair and unconstitutional to gate access to valuable educational programs based on a child’s race, regardless of whether the exclusion is explicit or implicit,” explained PLF lawyer Wilson Freeman.

“Taxpayer-funded academic support programs should be available to all students based on need, not race. FUSD’s practices violate multiple legal protections, including the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause, the Civil Rights Act, and California’s Proposition 209.”

The district, in fact, has an “Office of African American Academic Acceleration,” to address achievement gaps between black students and others.

That office runs 13 various programs with a $12 million budget, and focuses “on mentoring African American middle and high school students,” the legal team explained.

While the programs lack a specific racial requirement, “they are marketed exclusively to African American students,” the legal challenge charges.

“Administrators direct teachers to inform only African American parents and students about these opportunities, leaving other students unaware.”

The report said Fresno is the state’s third-largest school district, and the “acceleration” office was created back in 2017.

It was “started with a $742,000 budget to mentor African American middle and high school students,” the report said.

“Academic need doesn’t discriminate. It affects students of all races who need extra support to reach their full potential. This includes children whose parents belong to Californians for Equal Rights Foundation (CFER), a nonprofit group that fights for equal treatment under the law,” the legal team explained.

“These parents have children in Fresno schools who could benefit from A4 programs but were either kept unaware of the opportunities or, worse, led to believe they weren’t eligible because they’re not black. The parents are also deeply troubled that the district spends millions in taxpayer dollars on programs that de facto exclude their children for no other reason than skin color.”

The lawyers pointed out the Supreme Court has said, “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.”
