New York State Supreme Court Judge Mary V. Rosado (Democrat) issued a temporary restraining order Monday blocking Mayor Eric Adams and his administration from moving forward with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that would have allowed federal immigration agents access to Rikers Island – the city’s most notorious jail complex.

At the heart of the case is Executive Order No. 50, issued by Mayor Adams, which aimed to facilitate cooperation between the New York City Department of Correction and federal law enforcement, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The agreement was designed to identify and remove dangerous illegal aliens charged with violent crimes – including repeat offenders and gang members – from city custody and turn them over to federal authorities.

But that common-sense initiative has now been derailed by a politically motivated lawsuit filed by the New York City Council, which outrageously argues that allowing ICE to perform its lawful duties violates the city’s sanctuary policies.

According to the lawsuit, Adams allowed ICE back on Rikers in exchange for the DOJ dropping federal corruption charges filed against him last year.

According to the lawsuit reviewed by The Gateway Pundit:

Mayor Eric Adams, as part of a corrupt quid pro quo bargain to end the federal criminal case against him, promised to let United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) return to Rikers Island and set up an office.

The Trump Administration has repeatedly confirmed that they will use that office and ICE’s presence on Rikers to supercharge their mass deportation efforts.

To carry out this plan, on April 8, 2025, newly appointed First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro acting as proxy of Mayor Adams-issued Executive Order 50 to allow ICE back on Rikers Island.

Executive Order 50 and the actions leading up to and surrounding it are illegal, null, and void, and any steps to enforce it should be immediately halted by this Court.

In siding with the Council’s radical anti-enforcement stance, Judge Rosado temporarily barred Adams, First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro, and all city personnel from negotiating or implementing any deal with the federal government—effectively handcuffing law enforcement.

“Upon the foregoing documents, the Court issues the following interim order granting a temporary restraining order prohibiting Defendants Mayor Eric Adams, First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro, and the New York City Department of Correction, and any and all New York City government officials, officers, personnel and agencies from taking any steps towards negotiating, signing, or implementing any Memoranda of Understanding with the federal government regarding federal law enforcement presence on Department of Correction property,” Rosado wrote.

The Adams administration, in an effort to accommodate due process, agreed to postpone the agreement until a formal hearing scheduled for April 25.

There once was a Japanese imperial officer who continued to fight World War II for nearly three decades after Japan had already surrendered.

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick hasn’t quite reached that duration of futility, but it’s clear he’s planning to make a run for that record.

Kaepernick’s girlfriend, radio host Nessa Diab, all but confirmed his Sisyphean intentions with TMZ Sports.

When approached on the New York City street by the outlet, she was asked if Kaepernick is “still training” for an NFL comeback.

“All day, every day,” Diab enthusiastically responded. “Nothing has changed.”

“Is he still wanting to play [in the NFL]?” TMZ asked in follow-up.

“Of course he is,” Diab responded. “It’s all up to the teams [and] if they’ll let him.”

Well, far be it from this humble writer to disagree with the mother of Kaepernick’s child, but no, it’s really not up to the NFL teams.

The NFL is a meritocracy, first and foremost — and perhaps to a fault, if you look at the number of active and retired NFL players with all manner of disturbing allegations.

And no, you can’t scapegoat MAGA for this one, given that President Donald Trump has literally said that he thinks Kaepernick should play in the NFL if he “deserves it.”

No, Team Kaep, it’s exactly what Trump hinted at: It’s really up to the 37-year-old quarterback (who would turn 38 early into this coming NFL season) and whether or not he’s an NFL-caliber quarterback.

And from every indication, both past and recent, he’s not.

The last time we saw Kaepernick as an actual NFL player, the then-29-year-old San Francisco 49ers quarterback was benched for journeyman Blaine Gabbert on a dismal 2-14 team in the 2016 season.

That last year of actual NFL playing time saw Kaepernick post high-end backup quarterback numbers, where his 16 touchdown-4 interception counting stats were offset by his poor 59.2 percent passing (most modern NFL quarterbacks are expected at minimum to hit 60 percent of their passes, with most good quarterbacks throwing in the mid-60’s and best quarterbacks flirting with close to 70 percent).

If that was the last relevant representation of what Kaepernick brings to an NFL product — again, eight years ago — what in the world should anyone, let alone an NFL franchise desperate enough at quarterback to give Kaepernick a glance, expect after nearly a decade of atrophy?

Training “all day, every day” doesn’t slow the progress of time, and at this point in 2025, what would be the point of an NFL team signing a bad backup quarterback? There are tons of those sorts of players out there, and plenty among them that don’t have the baggage, notoriety, or the likely media circus Kaepernick comes with (see: the above TMZ video again).

And to be clear, that also means that, yes, this writer truly believes that if Kaepernick were Tom Brady 2.0, he would be back in the NFL by now, regardless of those contemptible anthem protest trends he started by kneeling for “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

But Kaepernick obviously is not Brady, and there’s simply no earthly way that he’s gotten better in his now eight-year hiatus (he last played Jan. 1, 2017) from playing professional football.

Let it go, man. The “comeback” was sad three years ago, and has only gotten sadder since.

Having your girlfriend write checks for you that your body, age, and skills clearly can’t cash is not doing your already beleaguered image any good.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries appeared on ABC News over the weekend and openly defied the recently announced strategy of DNC vice chair David Hogg, who is planning to primary members of his own party.

This is the second time in a week that Hogg has been called out by a high level Democrat. Dem strategist James Carville called David Hogg ‘a contemptible little twerp’ during a recent appearance on NewsNation.

The DNC made a huge mistake in appointing Hogg as vice chair. He is an activist. He has zero experience in getting people elected to office.

Dem House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Sunday rejected a Democratic National Committee big’s controversial plan to fund primary challenges against passive party members in safe districts.

Jeffries of New York instead touted his intent to back all House Democratic incumbents across the country in the 2026 cycle and push the party to focus on knocking off Republicans.

“I look forward to standing behind every single Democratic incumbent, from the most progressive to the most centrist and all points in between,” Jeffries told ABC News’ “This Week” when asked about the opposing stance by Democratic National Committee Vice Chairman David Hogg.

“They’re working hard in their communities, rising to the occasion,” Jeffries said of Dem incumbents.

Last week, Hogg, who has been serving as one of three DNC vice chairs since February, announced that his organization, “Leaders We Deserve,” will pump out $20 million to challenge low-key House Dem incumbents in favor of more combative contenders.

Democratic figures and even the former first family’s aides are saying that former President Biden needs to stay out of politics, according to a new report from ‘The Hill.’

The outlet’s senior political correspondent, Amie Parnes, spoke to former first lady Jill Biden’s communications director Michael LaRosa, who stated that Biden’s staff needs to steer him away from the spotlight because the party is not interested in seeing him.

‘If they had advisers who had their hand on the pulse of the Democratic Party or national politics, they would have understood the intense level of anger or indifference to them that remains inside our party and isn’t going away anytime soon,’ the former Biden staffer said.

Parnes spoke to LaRosa following Biden’s speech at a disability advocacy conference in Chicago earlier this week. The speech, which the ex-president gave on the state of the Social Security Administration, was Biden’s first major address since leaving the White House in January.

Biden is an ongoing problem for them.
