Singer Alicia Keys brought her ultra-woke politics to the Grammys on Sunday night while she accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.
The “If I Ain’t Got You” singer, 44, dove head first into lecturing the audience immediately after being handed the award by Queen Latifah.
“I’ll give it up for the Queen, ultimate trailblazer,” Keys said. “This is not the time to shut down the diversity of voices we’ve seen on this stage.”
Keys said that the industry is comprised of “hard-working people from different backgrounds with different points of view” and that it “changes the game.”
“DEI [diversity, equity, and inclusion] is not a threat; it’s a gift,” Keys asserted.

Republicans, particularly President Donald Trump, have of course been outspoken about DEI policies replacing merit-based hiring.
“And the more voices, the more powerful the sound. When destructive forces try to burn us down, we rise from the ashes like a phoenix, and as you see tonight, music is the unstoppable language that connects us all,” Keys continued.
The musician asked the audience to “keep showing up with compassion, with empathy — what I call soul care.”
“Keep opening the doors. The dreams that the world is ought to be, a dream that the world as is ought to be, as the great Toni Morrison said,” she said.
Lady Gaga also led with her politics, declaring that transgender people are “not invisible.”

“Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love, thank you,” the pop star said while accepting the award for Best Pop Duo Performance.
