When the Religious Liberty Commission, formed by President Trump, announced its first meeting would take place June 16 at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, the group Freedom From Religion promptly responded by saying it would “closely monitor” this meeting and all future gatherings.

If some Americans need an explanation of why a Religious Liberty Commission is necessary, they have their answer. Religion in the United States – and people of faith – have been under attack and “closely monitored” for far too long.

Recently, it has come to light that the FBI’s surveillance of “radical-traditionalist Catholics” during the Brandon (oh, I mean Biden) administration was much more extensive than at first believed. We at Priests for Life did a FOIA request for more information about it.

According to news reports, the memo targeting Catholics originated from the field office in Richmond, VA, and it was originally explained away as a misguided effort that went nowhere. But it seems it went to at least four other field offices and was seen by more than 1,000 FBI agents.

This is outrageous.

The president’s Executive Order from May 1 spelled out that the duties of the commission will include examining “current threats to domestic religious liberty,” devising strategies to “preserve and enhance religious liberty protections for future generations,” and develop programs to “celebrate America’s peaceful religious pluralism.”

And this will not just be a symbolic commission. Its meeting on Monday will be a practical exploration of its mission and the foundations of religious liberty in America. I happily and immediately accepted an invitation from the White House to join in this event.

Serving on the commission are Catholics, evangelical Christians, a rabbi, well-known names like Eric Metaxas, and even Dr. Phil. Members of three advisory boards include three more rabbis, two Muslims and the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of America. Also serving on the lay advisory board is Dr. Alveda King, a long-time Priests for Life Pastoral Team member who continues to serve on our board.

Legacy media outlets have been critical of the commission, which is no surprise, but a look around at what’s happening in our nation should be proof enough that such a panel is necessary. Whoever expected the massacre of Jews in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, would lead to nationwide demonstrations calling for the annihilation of the Jews?

The formation of the commission was good news to those of us involved in pro-life work because for many Christians in the fight for life, our work is a movement of faith. The presence of Christ fuels our movement and the more we worship, the stronger we become, and more willing and able to endure the sacrifices the cause requires.

As I told voters nationwide during this recent election, President Trump deserves our support not only because of his positions on issues, but because he’s defending the tools we need to promote our own positions. First among those tools is religious freedom.

I have long been among those insisting that all Americans should freely enjoy the freedom of religion promised to us in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. When the Obama administration tried to force my ministry, Priests for Life, to supply contraceptives and abortifacient drugs and devices to our employees, we filed a legal challenge that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.

We won because of President Trump. And in union with him, we remain vigilant and we look forward to working with the Religious Liberty Commission. I don’t know how anti-religious extremists plan to monitor Monday’s meeting at the Museum of the Bible, but when they do, they’ll find me there in a front-row seat.

The suspect in the rampage shootings of Minnesota Democrat State Sen. John Hoffman and State Rep. Melissa Hortman and their spouses was an appointee of Democrat Governor Tim Walz, according to reports.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz announced Saturday morning that state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband did not survive the attack at their home. State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife are alive, but wounded.

On Saturday afternoon, The Blaze correspondent Julio Rosas reported, “I’m told by a police source in Minnesota the suspect in the shootings of MN state lawmakers is Vance Luther Boelter.” The identity of the suspect was confirmed by the New York Post and multiple other outlets.

Boelter, 57, was appointed by Walz in 2019 to serve on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board, but also leads an international security firm.

His wife also appears to have interned for Gov. Walz directly in 2010; however, The Gateway Pundit has not been able to confirm this relationship independently.

It has been reported that the suspect was dressed up as a police officer when he went to the lawmaker’s homes. Boelter is the Director of Security Patrols at Praetoria Security, a security firm in the state. The firm’s website features staff dressed in uniforms that closely resemble those of law enforcement.

A biography of Boelter on the Praetoria website states:

Boelter’s LinkedIn also lists him as the CEO of Red Lion Group.

The shooter’s car was littered with fliers printed with “No Kings,” a direct nod to the unhinged protests planned against President Donald Trump’s administration. A manifesto was also located, containing a list of other politicians.

A manhunt for Boelter is currently underway.

An Ancient Orthodox Saint’s vision has come true as biblical end times appear to be accelerating.

This prophecy from Elder Theodoros Agiofarangitis of Crete, who died in 2016, has captured the attention of Orthodox Christians worldwide following Israel’s June 13, 2025, massive assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The prophecy, shared through Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou, a disciple of several contemporary Orthodox saints including Saint Paisios and Saint Porphyrios, described with startling precision how people would casually hear the news of Israel’s strike while going about their daily routines.

The prophecy continued: “And at the same time, or a little earlier, Erdogan will fall,” pointing to additional geopolitical upheavals that Orthodox believers say signal the beginning of prophetic end times events.

Orthodox eschatology, particularly through the writings and visions of modern saints such as Saint Paisios of Mount Athos, has long foretold of major conflicts involving Israel, Turkey, and other regional powers.

Father Peter Heers, an Orthodox theologian, notes that “the prophecies of the saints, not only Greek saints but also Russian, Romanian, and Serbian saints, state that countries will use nuclear weapons” following the Israeli strike.

According to these teachings, the attack on Iran may serve as a trigger for broader geopolitical crises, including the fall of Turkey’s leadership and the onset of large-scale regional conflict.

The Orthodox prophecy isn’t the only religious interpretation gaining attention. Israel’s large-scale June 13, 2025 military operation, Operation Rising Lion, has prompted biblical scholars and prophecy teachers across Christian denominations to reexamine whether recent events align with ancient scriptural predictions, particularly in light of Iran’s direct attack on Israel in April 2024.

The coordinated strike targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and military leadership, including key sites such as the Natanz and Parchin facilities, missile bases, air defenses, and residences of senior commanders.

High-profile casualties included Major General Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Commander Hossein Salami, and at least six nuclear scientists, including Fereydoon Abbasi. The operation involved approximately 200 Israeli Air Force jets, drone swarms, and covert Mossad sabotage teams.

The mission’s Hebrew codename, Am KeLavi—“A People Rises Like a Lioness,” drawn from Numbers 23:24—has been interpreted by some as symbolizing divine protection and prophetic fulfillment.

For many prophecy scholars, this combination of air superiority, weakened Iranian proxies, and the elimination of Iran’s nuclear leadership mirrors the conditions described in Ezekiel’s end-times vision.

Evangelical Christian leaders have been especially vocal in linking recent events to biblical prophecy.

Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship, a prominent Bible prophecy teacher, said he believes Iran’s attack on Israel fulfills Scripture and signals the end times.

He pointed to the regathering of the Jewish people in their homeland, specifically Israel’s founding on May 14, 1948, as the moment when “the prophetic time clock began to tick.”

Iran’s first direct military attack on Israel occurred in April 2024, when Tehran launched more than 300 drones and missiles toward Israeli territory.

Although 99% of the projectiles were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome and allied defense systems, biblical prophecy teachers emphasize that the significance lies not in the damage inflicted, but in the event’s alignment with ancient end-times predictions.

The primary reference comes from Ezekiel 38, written approximately 2,600 years ago, which describes a future coalition led by “Magog” (widely interpreted as Russia) and including “Persia” (modern-day Iran) in a coordinated attack against Israel.

This interpretation has gained renewed attention amid recent geopolitical shifts. Russia and Iran have expanded their military cooperation, what many see as the prophesied Magog, Persia alliance, while Iranian proxy forces such as Hamas and Hezbollah have been weakened by Israeli operations.

At the same time, the collapse of Syria’s Assad regime has granted Israel near-total air superiority in Syrian airspace.

Pastor John Hagee, founder of Christians United for Israel and prominent Bible prophecy teacher, went further, declaring: “We are on the verge of the Gog-Magog war that Ezekiel described in chapters 38 and 39.”

While Ezekiel 38-39 remains the primary prophetic focus for end times Bible prophecy scholars, religious observers across denominations are examining several biblical prophecies in light of recent events.

Jeremiah 49:35-39 speaks of God “breaking the bow of Elam,” scattering its people, and destroying its “king and officials.” Elam was an ancient region overlapping modern-day western Iran.

Some interpreters suggest that the “bow” symbolizes Iran’s missile capabilities, and that the death of senior military and nuclear personnel, including Major General Mohammad Bagheri and IRGC Commander Hossein Salami, could correspond to the judgment against Elam’s leadership described in the text.

A lesser-known biblical passage receiving renewed attention is Psalm 83, which describes a ten-member coalition conspiring to “wipe out Israel as a nation.”

The nations listed include Edom, Moab, Ammon, Philistia, and Assyria, names many commentators associate with modern-day Palestinians, Jordanians, Lebanese, Syrians, and others.

Prophecy author Bill Salus argues that the Psalm 83 war precedes the Ezekiel 38 conflict and more closely resembles current threats from Israel’s immediate neighbors and non-state actors.

In what some believe to be another case of political correctness gone awry, a teacher at West Valley High School in Spokane, Washington, claims he was fired for reading the “n-word” aloud during a class discussion of To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee’s iconic novel about racial injustice in the Jim Crow South.

The former West Valley High School teacher, Matthew Mastronardi, was secretly recorded by a student while reading a passage from the school-approved text that uses the n-word in its historical context.

In a series of posts on X, Mastronardi explained that while he teaches Spanish, he had overheard two students discussing how they were instructed to skip over “the n-word” while reading the novel in their English class.

Mastronardi wrote, “I was astonished and expressed disagreement, saying, ‘That’s silly; it undermines the book’s historical context and disrespects the author’s intent to use accurate language.’ A girl asked me in front of the class, ‘Would you read the word?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I would read every word.’”

“A male student immediately handed me the book and said, ‘Okay, do it.’ I knew the situation was serious with 30 students watching, wondering if I would read,” Mastronardi continued. “Nervous but committed, I saw it as a teachable moment about context and literary honesty in reading. I read a passage aloud, including the word ‘nigger,’ unaware I was being recorded.”

Later that week, Mastronardi says he was given a verbal warning about the reading by the school’s principal, and an ultimatum. He could either resign or not have his contract renewed. Refusing to resign, his contract was terminated.

West Valley High School’s administration claims the decision “wasn’t solely due to this incident,” but has refused to provide other reasons.

“I requested a meeting to urge reconsideration, and we met on May 21. During the meeting, they repeatedly stated the decision wasn’t solely due to the TKAM incident. When I asked, ‘What other reasons contributed to my termination?’ they provided no specifics. There are no parent complaints, no documented disciplinary actions, and I’ve passed every teaching evaluation,” the teacher continued.

Mastronardi said the teacher’s union has been “unhelpful and actively resistant” in his case.

Speaking to The Gateway Pundit, Mastronardi said his brother, who was a teacher at the same school, submitted his resignation in solidarity to repudiate the district for the injustice.

“I didn’t get to attend the last day of school because I am not allowed on the campus,” Mastronardi said. “According to my brother, dozens and dozens of students were trying to find me on the last day of school to say goodbye and lend support. He said it was very sad and students were deeply upset.”

Mastronardi added, “The union is still refusing to supply me with the meeting minutes from the notes they took during a meeting I had with the Superintendent. I’m considering legal action against them. I’m preparing for a press conference this week where local leaders will join me in speaking about academic freedom, literacy, honesty, and free speech.”

A petition to reinstate Mastronardi to the school, launched by his students, has garnered nearly 2,000 signatures. A GiveSendGo fundraiser to help while he is out of work has raised just over $4,500.

The fundraiser description explains, “I am married and have three beautiful young children. The money raised will support us through this transition period and my plan is to make a large donation to support educational efforts that prioritize free speech as well. I hope you’ll consider donating to this cause. Thank you.”

In 2018, Minnesota’s Duluth School District removed the novel from required reading lists due to its use of the n-word, with administrators citing student discomfort. Similar bans occurred in Mississippi’s Biloxi School District, prompting criticism from the National Coalition Against Censorship, which argued that classrooms are the ideal place to discuss the word’s “history, use, and destructiveness.” A 2021 Daily Mail report noted over 100 academics and parents opposing teachers reading the n-word aloud from To Kill a Mockingbird and Of Mice and Men, signaling a broader push to sanitize literature.

A far-left anarchist website has published a seven-step tactical guide to “stop ICE” and “create no-go zones for federal forces.”

The website, CrimethInc., is a shadowy, anonymous, anarchist collective born in the 1990s punk scene, which pushes an anti-capitalist, anti-cop, and anti-American agenda.

The website glorifies “direct action,” riots, looting, shoplifting, and black bloc tactics.

On Friday, CrimethInc. posted a guide on how to stop ICE apprehensions of illegal aliens.

The anarchist group is encouraging the formation of “tight-knit resistance groups” to map ICE’s infrastructure, publicize its vulnerabilities, and impose “consequences” on communities cooperating with federal agents. They advocate setting up rapid response networks to spread verified reports of ICE activity, pressuring local politicians to obstruct immigration enforcement, and fostering a “culture of resistance” that could easily spiral into violence.

The guide read as follows:

1) Form resistance groups.
Form tight-knit groups to play roles in the resistance. You and your friends may already form the core of such a group. You could focus on communications, intelligence gathering, fundraising, or some other task. Meet with others you trust and start making plans. Foster ties between different groups and demographics. Like an iceberg, the majority of your connections should be deep below the surface.

2) Establish community assemblies.
Bring together formal groups, community networks, and other concerned individuals to share information, coordinate campaigns, interchange resources, and strategize together. Build the foundations for enduring trust and long-term coordination.

3) Build a communications system.
Set up a rapid response network capable of verifying reports and spreading information immediately to large numbers of people about the operations of ICE and other federal mercenaries in your community.

4) Strategize and set a combative example.
Map the infrastructure and support institutions that ICE depends on. Publicize their vulnerabilities. Popularize simple, reproducible ways to impose consequences every time that ICE inflicts harm on a community. Rather than only reacting in a way that permits them to set the terms of each encounter, aim to choose the time and place of confrontations.

5) Compel local politicians to break off cooperation with federal authorities.
So far, non-cooperation with ICE has been performative at best. Pressure local politicians, public institutions, and other influential groups to concretely oppose ICE operations rather than simply standing aside. The consequences of cooperating with ICE, whether actively or passively, must be worse than the consequences of not doing so.

6) Create no-go zones for federal forces.
If ICE agents hesitate to enter certain areas without backing from police, National Guard, and Marines, that will limit their operations. The more resources they have to commit to every raid, the fewer attacks they will be able to carry out and the more expensive their power grab will be.

7) Create mutual aid networks.
Support those who have lost family members to ICE abductions. Create collective habits of care to sustain each other through the crises ahead.

This isn’t just a protest guide; it’s a blatant call to disrupt law enforcement, destabilize our borders, and erode the rule of law.
