New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined a growing number of Democrats who are seeking to work as much as possible with President-elect Donald Trump in his second term.

Ocasio-Cortez, who belongs to the progressive faction of her party in Congress, said in remarks to Punchbowl News on Wednesday that she will support policies from Trump that align with her beliefs.

“The reason why I think oftentimes Democrats occasionally lose elections is because we’re too reflexively anti-Republican, and that we don’t lean into an ambitious vision for working-class Americans strongly enough,” she told the outlet.

Punchbowl indeed reported that many other Democrats are taking an approach different from the resistance-style efforts seen during the first Trump administration.

Particular issues on which some Democrats think they can find common ground with the incoming commander-in-chief include securing the border, reforming wasteful government spending, and advancing certain economic reforms.

“I don’t think the American people want extremism, but they do want changes at the border,” Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz told the outlet.

The lawmaker said that his party is trying to address the election loss by acknowledging that they were out of touch with voters on particularly important matters, like immigration.

“On some of these issues, we were to the left of the American people,” he admitted.

Several Democrats support the Laken Riley Act, an immigration reform bill that passed the House on Tuesday: 48 Democrats in the lower chamber voted for the bill, an increase of 11 votes from that faction during the last Congress, according to Punchbowl.

“We should pursue every opportunity around border security and immigration reform,” Ohio Democratic Rep. Greg Landsman told the outlet.

“That’s number one, and number two is getting costs down,” he added.

As the bill advances, Michigan Democratic Sen. Gary Peters, Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, and other Democratic members of the upper chamber are expected to back the effort.

Many of the Democrats who voted for the Laken Riley Act hail from swing districts or states and could face difficult re-election battles in two years, but others are from more solidly blue districts.

Fetterman has called on his Democratic colleagues to seek some level of bipartisanship with the Trump administration.

He noted on Tuesday that there are “a lot of freak-outs” from Democrats over issues like the potential acquisition of Greenland.

But he said the idea from Trump is a “responsible conversation” toward which Democrats should not viscerally react.

Victor Reacts: You’ve Got to Love A Happy Ending, Trans Activist Celebrates Too Soon (VIDEO)

You’ve got to love a happy ending. After insulting Ron DeSantis and celebrating a loophole in state law, a transgender activist got a thank you letter from the state of Florida.

The Gateway Pundit reported,

In a self-congratulatory TikTok post, transgender activist James Rose recently boasted about exploiting a “loophole” to change the sex listed on his Florida driver’s license to female, despite state legislation that explicitly prohibits such alterations.

Rose’s celebratory moment, however, was short-lived as Florida’s Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) swiftly corrected the error and issued a replacement license identifying Rose as male.

In January 2024, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) implemented a policy prohibiting transgender residents from updating the gender marker on their driver’s licenses to reflect their gender identity.

On December 20, 2024, James Rose, a biological male who identifies as female, posted a video claiming to have successfully bypassed Florida’s strict regulations. The activist gleefully announced that his driver’s license now displayed “female” as the sex marker.

In a TikTok captioned “BIG WIN FOR THE DOLLS, BIG LOSS FOR RHONDA,” Rose mocked Governor Ron DeSantis and his administration.

Rose explained that the loophole allowed him to bypass state requirements by replacing a lost driver’s license instead of renewing it. By presenting a passport that listed his gender as female—a document that permits self-identification under Biden’s federal rules—Rose claimed to have forced the state DMV to follow suit.

After the video gained traction, the incident caught the attention of Florida officials.

On January 6, 2025, the FLHSMV issued an official letter to Rose, invalidating the altered license and reinstating the original designation of male.

As it turns out, if you think that you have pulled a fast one on the state and wiggled your way around the law it is best not to brag about it on social media. Now this loophole has been closed for anyone else who may have wanted to do the same thing. Again I say, you have to love a happy ending. Ensuring that state identification accurately reflects the biology of an individual is crucial for public safety and collective delusion will not change that.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass

You love to see it.

LA’s Democrat Mayor Karen Bass got absolutely skewered by a reporter over her failed policies that led to dry fire hydrants and the most destructive fire in history.

Karen Bass slashed Fire Department funding by $17.6 million a few months before the fires erupted on Tuesday.

This is the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history and the city is not prepared to contain the fire because of Democrats like Karen Bass.

Los Angeles firefighters couldn’t even battle the inferno because the hydrants went dry.

WATCH:

Karen Bass was actually in Africa as her city burned down.

The LA Mayor was in Africa attending the presidential inauguration in Ghana as tens of thousands of Los Angeles residents evacuated and watched their homes burn down.

Later Wednesday, fresh off the plane from Ghana, Mayor Karen Bass met with Governor Newsom and Los Angeles firefighters for a photo op with charred structures as the perfect backdrop.

WATCH:

A Sky News reporter cornered Karen Bass and absolutely torched her over her failed policies.

Karen Bass was stunned and hung her head in shame as the reporter lambasted her.

“Do you owe citizens an apology for being absent while their homes were burning?” the reporter asked a stunned Karen Bass.

“Do you regret cutting the fire department budget by millions of dollars?” the reporter asked.

Karen Bass stood there in silence.

“Have you nothing to say? Elon Musk says that you’re incompetent. Are you considering your position?” the reporter asked Karen Bass before she ran off like a coward.

State Farm Canceled Hundreds of Pacific Palisades Homeowners’ Policies Before Devastating Wildfire Strikes

As wildfires ravage Southern California, homeowners in Pacific Palisades find themselves grappling with an unbearable reality: their homes are burning, and their insurance policies—once their safety net—were canceled just months ago by State Farm.

In a move justified by the company as a strategy to avoid “financial failure,” State Farm canceled over 72,000 homeowners’ policies statewide, with Pacific Palisades—a now-charred affluent neighborhood—bearing a significant brunt.

James Woods, a renowned actor and Pacific Palisades resident, summed up the community’s frustration on social media.

“Actually, one of the major insurance companies canceled all the policies in our neighborhood about four months ago,” he wrote.

Another resident, watching her family home of 75 years succumb to flames, shared with ABC News.

“My parents are 90 years old. They lived in this house for 75 years and had the same insurance policy. Then State Farm decided to cancel it. They’re now left with nothing. Thank you, California insurance companies, for abandoning taxpaying residents who love this state. And they wonder why people are leaving California in droves.”

WATCH:

State Farm’s mass cancellations came on the heels of its March 2024 announcement to cease issuing new homeowners’ policies in California entirely, according to Newsweek.

State Farm announced in April 2024 that it would cancel a total of 72,000 policies in California, including 30,000 homes.

About 1,600 insured homes in Pacific Palisades lost coverage due to this decision.

State Farm announced in March 2024:

“State Farm General Insurance Company (“State Farm General”) is working to ensure its long-term sustainability in California. In doing so, State Farm General has had to make some difficult but necessary decisions that will impact a portion of our California policyholders as follows:

Non-renew approximately 30,000 homeowners, rental dwelling, and other property insurance policies (residential community association and business owners). (A rental dwelling policy insures rental home owners. Renters insurance is not affected.)

Withdraw from offering commercial apartment policies with the non-renewal of all of those approximately 42,000 policies. (A commercial apartment policy insures apartment owners. Renters insurance is not affected.)

These actions are California-specific and will occur on a rolling basis over the next year, beginning on July 3, 2024, for homeowners, rental dwelling, residential community association and business owners policies and on August 20, 2024, for commercial apartment policies. Combined, these policies represent just over 2% of State Farm General’s policy count in California.

This decision was not made lightly and only after careful analysis of State Farm General’s financial health, which continues to be impacted by inflation, catastrophe exposure, reinsurance costs, and the limitations of working within decades-old insurance regulations. State Farm General takes seriously our responsibility to maintain adequate claims-paying capacity for our customers and to comply with applicable financial solvency laws. It is necessary to take these actions now.

We also recognize the Insurance Commissioner’s proposed regulatory reforms, such as streamlining the rate application process, accounting for catastrophe modeling and reinsurance costs in rates, and addressing FAIR Plan vulnerabilities. We will continue to work constructively with the California Department of Insurance, the Governor’s Office, and policymakers to actively pursue these reforms in order to establish an environment in which insurance rates are better aligned with risk.

We will notify customers impacted by this decision in advance of their policy expiration to provide information on other coverage options. State Farm independent contractor agents licensed in California will continue to service policies not impacted by these decisions. State Farm General’s May 2023 decision regarding new applications remains unchanged. We will evaluate the need for any additional business actions as market conditions change.”

This corporate retreat, echoed by other private insurers, has forced countless homeowners into the state-run FAIR Plan—a last-resort insurance program that has seen its enrollment more than double since 2020.

Newsweek reported:

Several private insurers have cut coverage in at-risk areas across California in the past three years, leaving homeowners scrambling to find options for coverage. As a result, California’s FAIR Plan, which works as an insurer of last resort in the state, has more than doubled its policies between 2020 and 2024, reaching a total of 452,000, as reported by CapRadio.

Most insurers who have limited their offer in the state mentioned the rising wildfire risk as well as the state’s regulations as the main reasons behind their decision. Unable to increase their premiums to a level that will match their growing risk, companies have decided instead to cut coverage.

This has triggered an ongoing property insurance sector crisis in the Golden State as homeowners are finding it increasingly harder to find coverage at a time when they so desperately need it.
