Germany: Illegal Afghan Migrant Receives Just 2 Years In Prison for Raping a 6-Year-Old Boy in Refugee Center
March 17, 2025
A court in the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg has sentenced an illegal Afghan migrant found guilty of raping a six-year-old boy at a refugee center to a mere two years and ten months in prison. The sentence has left some shocked and bewildered at the astonishingly lenient sentence for such a revolting crime against a child.
The unspeakable act, which took place in May 2024, first came to the attention of the victim’s father after he heard an unusual clinking of euro coins in his son’s pocket. Curious, he questioned the boy, who hesitantly admitted that “something bad” had happened to him that Sunday afternoon at the refugee center, before he went on to explain what exactly had taken place, the German regional newspaper Schwarzwälder Bote reported.
The father then contacted authorities, which prompted an investigation, ultimately culminating in the arrest of the suspect—an Afghan migrant who had illegally entered Germany in 2022 after leaving behind his home country.
The Villingen District Court, while reviewing a recorded interview of the victim conducted by a child psychologist in the presence of the judge, heard how the Afghan man lured the child into his room with chocolate before locking the door.
After being lured into the defendant’s room, the victim told the psychologist that he “had to do something… By force.”
The boy recounted how the man initially forced him to touch his genitals before forcing him to perform oral sex. After the rape took place, the child predator handed the young boy five euros in coins and instructed him not to tell anyone what had transpired.
In addition to the psychologist, judge, prosecutor, and defense attorney, who all confirmed the accuracy of the child’s statements, a court-appointed expert also vouched for the reliability of the victim’s testimony, noting that his account was “consistent with no logical breaks.”
Initially, during his interrogation after his arrest and while in pre-trial detention, the accused denied the serious allegations against him. However, as the court proceedings progressed, he ultimately admitted through his attorney that the victim’s account was accurate.
Although the Afghan man initially claimed to be 20 years old at the time of the crime, X-rays and other forensic tests suggested that he was likely over 21, thus subjecting him to adult criminal law.
After the defendant’s guilt and age were established, the prosecution requested a mere three-year prison sentence, downplaying the severity of the sexual assault. “It was a rather short process” and the act did not have “consequences that were too serious for the child,” the prosecution claimed, shockingly.
The defense, meanwhile, sought a two-year suspended sentence, noting that the defendant had confessed and showed remorse. In the end, however, the judge opted for a custodial sentence of just two years and ten months for the sexual abuse and rape of a child.
While the exceptionally lenient sentence may shock Americans, unfortunately, such sentences are not uncommon for foreign perpetrators of sexual assault and rape against young children in Germany and other parts of Europe.
It remains unclear whether the Afghan will be deported or allowed to remain in Germany after serving his prison sentence.
