JUST IN: Rep. Cory Mills Denies Wrongdoing in BS Assault Investigation – So-Called Victim Says Incident “Unfairly Exploited for Political Purposes”
February 22, 2025
Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) has been swept into a criminal investigation by DC’s Metropolitan Police Department over an alleged domestic assault, which the Congressman and the alleged victim have denied.
“There was no physical altercation,” the woman named as a victim in the police report said in a statement. She added that the matter “is being unfairly exploited for political purposes or other motives.”
“This week, law enforcement was asked to resolve a private matter at Congressman Mills’ residence,” a spokesperson for Mills, an Iraq veteran and Gold Star recipient, told Fox.
“Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing whatsoever, and is confident any investigation will clear this matter quickly.”
Per Fox, Sarah Raviani, the alleged victim, said she “reached out to law enforcement to address a personal matter.”
Raviani continued:
“Several factors influenced my decision to involve the authorities. I had just returned from a 14-hour flight, severely jet-lagged and sleep-deprived. Additionally, I had been drinking during my vacation and had a drink in front of me when the officers arrived, which contributed to my emotional state. Upon their arrival, they noticed some bruising and marks on my arms, which I explained were the result of medical conditions like eczema and activities from my recent trip to Dubai.
While the personal matter in question was emotionally charged, there was no physical altercation. Regrettably, the situation has since been misrepresented by reporters and led to relentless harassment from various sources. Words have been taken out of context, and my privacy is being disregarded. This is a deeply personal matter that is being unfairly exploited for political purposes or other motives.”
The incident did not lead to an arrest, but active investigations into the incident, as well as the police’s handling of the incident, are taking place.
Far-left NBC was quick to report on conflicting police reports, later noting that there are three different police reports on the incident. Initially, they reported on a police report which said Mills “grabbed her, shoved her, and pushed her out of the door.”
The second reclassified the incident as a family disturbance, and a third report said an assault is under investigation.
Per NBC, “D.C. police told News4 the focus of the internal investigation is why officers made no arrest and why the incident was reclassified as a family disturbance and not an assault.”
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser on Friday confirmed that there is an “internal investigation on making sure that all of our members did what they were supposed to do according to MPD policy.” She could not confirm anything about the investigation into Mills or the changing police reports.
