One of the few drawbacks to today’s news in Canada is President Trump just lost one of his favorite targets, who he regularly humiliates.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson reported, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned as leader of his Liberal Party Monday morning during a news conference. TGP previously revealed he had been expected to resign this week.

“I intend to resign as party leader, as prime minister, after the party selects its next leader through a robust, nationwide, competitive process,” Trudeau told reporters.

“Last night, I asked the president of the Liberal Party to begin that process. This country deserves a real choice in the next election, and it has become clear to me that if I’m having to fight internal battles, I cannot be the best option in that election.”

President Trump had a savage response upon hearing the news of Trudeau’s political demise. He roasted Trudeau, saying that he fell victim to the fact that many Canadians want to be part of America and that America can no longer afford the financial pitfalls of the current relationship between the two nations.

He also reiterated his call for Canada to “merge” with America, claiming they would be far better off financially and militarily.

“Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State,” Trump wrote. “The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat.”

“Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned,” Trump added. “If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them.”

“Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!”

As TGP previously noted, Trudeau traveled to the United States to meet with Trump at his Mar-A-Lago estate in West Palm Beach last month amidst Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on all products from Canada and Mexico in response to the “illegal alien invasion.”

This caused Trudeau to board a plane to Florida for a face-to-face discussion, which Trump later described as “productive.” But Trump has continued to taunt and humiliate a weak Trudeau over Canadian annexation.
