This weekend is the end of the Joe Biden presidency and administration. According to insiders, the mood at the White House is bleak.

Biden is leaving as a failed one-term president and Donald Trump is coming back on Monday, so some folks are feeling down. Of course, millions of Americans are absolutely overjoyed to see the change in leadership and are counting down the minutes to Monday.

In a way, this is worse for Democrats than 2016 because it’s the second time that Trump has beaten them and their party is decimated. They have every right to feel sad and anxious about their future.

Many Democrats are blaming Biden for handing the White House to Donald Trump, criticizing the aging politician for staying in office too long and reeling after he pardoned his son. Exacerbating the frustrations, Biden recently expressed doubt about his ability to serve another four years after dismissing voters’ concerns about that very issue as he sought re-election.

In the White House, the mood feels “like a morgue,” according to a person who recently met with officials there. Biden leaves office feeling he contributed significant wins for the country that Americans don’t appreciate. Privately, he has vacillated from feeling melancholy to resigned to angry to wistful as he reflects on his legacy, two people close to him said.

Biden’s presidency was a disaster. It’s almost impossible to feel sympathy for him or the people at the White House who enabled him for the last four years. A new chapter is about to begin which will be much better for the country.
