Tulsi Gabbard

Republican (RINO) Senator Todd Young (IN) is reportedly considering voting against Trump’s DNI nominee Tulsi Gabbard in the Senate Intel Committee vote (or full floor).

Gabbard cannot have even one defector on the Senate Intel Committee since the vote is split along partly line 9-8.

Last week it was reported that Senator Susan Collins (RINO-ME), also a member of the Senate Intel Committee, may derail Tulsi Gabbard’s confirmation as Director of National Intelligence.

Senator Collins, a member of the very powerful Senate Intel Committee, told The Hill that she has many concerns about Tulsi Gabbard’s stance on Section 702 of the FISA which gives government permission to spy on ‘foreign’ targets without a warrant.

Tulsi Gabbard previously proposed legislation to repeal section 702 because the government abused the warrantless spying program and spied on American citizens.

Some Republicans expressed concern after Gabbard’s remarks on NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden during her Senate Intel Committee hearing last week.

Snowden was granted asylum in Russia in 2014 after leaking a trove of documents proving that the NSA was spying on Americans to journalist Glenn Greenwald.

Gabbard did say that while Snowden “broke the law” he also exposed egregious abuses.

Although GOP Senator James Lankford expressed disappointment that Tulsi Gabbard didn’t straight up come out and call Snowden a “traitor,” he still said he will vote yes to confirm her.

Now rumors are swirling that Senator Todd Young may vote against Tulsi Gabbard.

There is pressure on Senate Intel Committee Chairman Tom Cotton to hold a public panel vote on Tulsi Gabbard.

The Senate Intel Panel can hold a secret vote in a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility), however, GOP Senators are pressuring Chairman Cotton to hold a public vote.
