SmartLA 2028? — Newsom Announces “Marshall Plan” to Rebuild a New Los Angeles: “We Already Have a Team Reimagining LA 2.0”
January 13, 2025
In the wake of the devastating wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles County, Governor Gavin Newsom has unveiled an ambitious initiative dubbed the “Reimagining LA 2.0” to reconstruct the city.
This plan, which he refers to as “reimagining LA 2.0,” aims to rebuild the city with a focus on modernization and resilience, particularly in anticipation of the 2028 Olympics and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Gavin Newsom decided to take his PR campaign to national television on Sunday, and the results were a major disaster with notable word salads, wild gestures, and more.
NBC News Correspondent Jacob Soboroff traveled to Altadena, a census-designated place in the San Gabriel Valley in California which has been tormented by the Eaton Fire, to meet with the disgraced governor.
Throughout the interview, Newsom appeared defensive as he often clapped and made several other glaring gestures that caught the attention of viewers as he attempted to spin his way out of his disastrous leadership.
During one sequence, he showed he had no clue why the reservoirs in the Pacific Palisades were left completely empty.
One of them, The Santa Ynez Reservoir, has a capacity of 117 million gallons and could have played a critical role in stopping the fires as The Gateway Pundit reported.
Newsom also criticizes Trump’s approach to the situation, calling for him to visit California and see the devastation firsthand.
“I don’t think that mis[information] and disinformation advantages or aids any of us. Responding to Donald Trump’s insults, we would spend another month. I’m very familiar with them. Every elected official that he disagrees with is very familiar with them,” Newsom said.
“He’s done it in Utah. He’s done it in Michigan. Did it Puerto Rico,” Newsom said when asked about federal aid. “He did it to California back before I was even governor in 2018, until he found out folks in Orange County voted for him, and then he decided to give the money.
“So he’s been at this for years and years and years. That’s his style. And we take it seriously.”
The Democrat governor also outlines plans for rebuilding and preparing for future events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Olympics.
Jacob Soboroff:
Over the course of the next several years, Los Angeles will host the World Cup, the Super Bowl, and then the Olympics. With this rebuilding effort needing to take place, is LA going to be ready for all of those global events?Gavin Newsom:
My humble position—and it’s not just being naively optimistic—is that this only reinforces the imperative to move quickly, doing so in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation. President of the United States, Donald Trump, to his credit, was helpful in bringing the Olympics to the United States, specifically to LA. We thank him for that. This is an opportunity for him to shine, for this country to shine, for California and this community to shine. The opportunity with all of that—and the pride and spirit that come from hosting these three iconic events—is also the chance to rebuild at the same time. That’s why we’re already organizing a Marshall Plan. We already have a team working on “Reimagining LA 2.0,” ensuring everyone is included—not just the folks on the coast, but also those here who were ravaged by this disaster.
Jacob Soboroff:
You just said you’re organizing a Marshall Plan for the rebuilding of California. What is that Marshall Plan? Tell us about it.Gavin Newsom:
We’re just starting to lay it out. While we’re still fighting these fires, we’re already talking to city leaders, civic leaders, business leaders, nonprofits, and labor leaders. We’re beginning to organize how we can bring together individuals in philanthropy for recovery, how we can organize the region, and how we can seek federal assistance—not only for the Olympics but also for recovery efforts. We’re working to galvanize the community, engaging those who love this region, to develop a mindset that addresses this tragedy at scale. That means responding efficiently, as with the executive order I mentioned, by focusing on time-sensitive project delivery, addressing building codes, resolving permitting issues, and moving forward with resilience in mind.

WHAT? He’s ALREADY had that team. Pre-fire. This means no single family zoning, public transit for ALL, equity/climate/DEI agenda.

This plan aligns with the city’s existing “SmartLA 2028” strategy, which aims to leverage technology to address urban challenges and “improve residents’ quality of life.”
Earlier, The Gateway Pundit reported that the recent wildfires in California have led to the spread of conspiracy theories suggesting that these fires were intentionally set to advance the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 and the development of smart cities.
The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development includes goals aimed at making cities “inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.” This involves the concept of “smart cities,” which utilize technology to improve urban operations and the quality of life for residents.
The “SmartLA 2028” strategy, outlined in a document published by the City of Los Angeles, envisions a highly digital and connected city by 2028 under the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
