The news for Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and her favorite agency just got worse.

NBC News on Saturday night obtained an email sent to CFPB employees in which Vought announced a dozen directives that would go into effect immediately.

Here are the details from NBC:

Employees were instructed to “cease all supervision and examination activity,” “cease all stakeholder engagement,” pause all pending investigations, not issue any public communications and pause “enforcement actions.”

Vought also told employees not to “approve or issue any proposed or final rules or formal or informal guidance” and to “suspend the effective dates of all final rules that have been issued or published but that have not yet become effective,” among other directives listed in the email.

He said in the email that the directives are effective immediately, unless he approves an exception or a certain activity is required by law.

But the news gets even better. CNBC obtained an employees were told Sunday to work remotely because their Washington, D.C., headquarters would be closed at least through Feb. 14 according to a memo.

Because of this staff will now have to work remotely. If the Trump administration has its way, this move will either become permanent or staffers will be laid off completely.

This news follows revelations that Vought has choked off the flow of all new funding to the CFPB.

Vought argued in a Saturday evening X post that CFPB has more than $700 million in the bank and went on to proclaim that the “spigot is being turned off.”

“Pursuant to the Consumer Financial Protection Act, I have notified the Federal Reserve that CFPB will not be taking its next draw of unappropriated funding because it is not “reasonably necessary” to carry out its duties,” Vought wrote on X.

“The Bureau’s current balance of $711.6 million is in fact excessive in the current fiscal environment,” he added. “This spigot, long contributing to CFPB’s unaccountability, is now being turned off.”

The revelation also comes just two days after Elon Musk’s DOGE team entered the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau headquarters. At least three of DOGE workers are now “senior advisors” in the staff directory at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
