WATCH LIVE: House Votes on Trump-Endorsed Government Funding Bill – Democrats Expected to Vote No
December 19, 2024
The House of Representatives is voting on a newly agreed continuing resolution to fund the government tonight.
A vote for the previous bill to fund the government until March was expected on Wednesday but postponed after conservatives came out in staunch opposition. As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance also slammed Congress ahead of the vote, stating that the bill accomplishes “nothing for the American people” and called for a new “temporary funding bill WITHOUT DEMOCRAT GIVEAWAYS.”
The Gateway Pundit reported on Wednesday that Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) heads Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy came out in opposition to the previous 1,547-page bill, with Musk highlighting several issues that waste taxpayer dollars. “This bill should not pass,“ said Musk, who further noted massive pay raises for members of Congress as well as upgrades in lawmakers’ health insurance plans.
Additionally, the bill contained a section essentially mandating a court to “quash or modify any legal process directed to the provider for a House office if compliance…would require the disclosure of House data of the House office.” This would essentially give the House office exclusive jurisdiction over their records, The Gateway Pundit reported.
As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, President Trump described the new government funding bill as “VITAL to the America First Agenda” and called on all Republicans to vote in favor.
The new American Relief Act of 2024 “will keep the Government open, fund our Great Farmers and others, and provide relief for those severely impacted by the devastating hurricanes,” said Trump.
The bill also suspends the debt limit for two years, which President Trump demanded in a statement Wednesday.
As expected, the Democrats have come out against the bill, railing against it on the House Floor and accusing Republicans of pandering to billionaires and trying to create a government shutdown. However, Democrats who vote against the bill are voting for a government shutdown, Republicans say.
Democrat Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) gave a 14-minute speech in opposition to the bill, attacking Republicans for abandoning the disastrous previously agreed-to funding bill and claiming that Republicans are listening to wealthy "puppet masters." The bill that is before us today is just part of an effort to shut down the government," he said.
Others are referring to Elon Musk as "President Musk" and attacking him for opposing the previous funding bill that gave Members of Congress a raise.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) slammed the Democrats blaming Elon Musk in an X post Thursday. "They got caught with their pants down and now they say it’s Elon Musk’s fault," said Greene. "The truth is the Uniparty has been creating this disaster for decades. They own it. They can’t blame anyone but themselves."
The Uniparty is aiming their fire at Elon Musk and blaming him for killing their incestuous porkfest gov funding bill.
However, it was the American people engaging and posting their outrage on X that killed the bill.
But they hate Elon because he bought X and protected free…

Some Republicans may also oppose the bill, jeopardizing its passage.
The Gateway Pundit reported that President Trump called out Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) on Thursday for obstructing the new funding bill and called for him to be primaried.
"The very unpopular 'Congressman' from Texas, Chip Roy, is getting in the way, as usual, of having yet another Great Republican Victory – All for the sake of some cheap publicity for himself. Republican obstructionists have to be done away with," Trump said.
Chip Roy gave a speech on the House Floor Thursday night opposing his Republican colleagues.
The House is expected to vote shortly after 6 pm ET. The House is currently debating on the bill.
