An NYPD sergeant has been charged with second-degree manslaughter after a drug suspect died when a plastic cooler was thrown at him during a chase, the New York Post reported.
Sgt. Erik Duran, 36, was arraigned in Bronx Supreme Court facing charges of second-degree manslaughter, which could result in a maximum sentence of 25 years, as well as first and second-degree assault and criminally negligent homicide.
The charges are in connection with the death of 30-year-old Eric Duprey.
Reports indicate that Duprey was fleeing NYPD officers on a motorized scooter after being caught selling drugs to an undercover officer. Sgt. Duran, part of a buy-and-bust operation on Aqueduct Avenue, allegedly threw a plastic picnic cooler at Duprey from close range, causing him to lose control and crash violently.
The corrupt New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office, leading the prosecution, stated that Duprey sideswiped a tree and was thrown from the scooter, suffering fatal blunt force head injuries.
Surveillance footage obtained by the AP shows the dramatic moments leading to the crash, with Duprey driving the scooter on a sidewalk towards a group of people, including Sgt. Duran, who was in plain clothes.

In response to the charges, the Sergeants’ Benevolent Association has defended Duran’s actions as a split-second decision made in the interest of public safety, suggesting that Duprey’s reckless driving posed a significant risk to bystanders. The SBA criticized the indictment as a politicized move by the Attorney General Letitia James, indicating that Duran was being unfairly targeted by the legal system.
The association further claimed that without Duran’s intervention, Duprey’s actions could have resulted in serious harm to others. Duprey had a history of arrests, including an open felony assault case for an unrelated incident.
The New York Post reported, “Vallelong claimed Duprey dangerously drove 40 mph down the sidewalk, endangering pedestrians and children, and would have crashed into cops standing there had Duran not stopped him.”
“Duprey had at least two previous arrests, including an open felony assault case in the Bronx from June 2022 for allegedly throwing a two-liter bottle of soda through a driver’s window, police sources previously said,” the outlet added.
After the incident, Duran was suspended and placed on modified duty. He was released on a $150,000 bond following his arraignment, with a return to court scheduled for April 18.
Andrew Quinn, Duran’s attorney, insists there is more to the story than the video evidence suggests, highlighting the threat posed by Duprey driving at high speed on the sidewalk.
“What is indisputably clear is that the deceased, who was intent on evading arrest for selling drugs to an undercover officer, was speeding on a motorbike in an incredibly dangerous manner down a crowded sidewalk, jeopardizing the life and safety of everyone there,” Quinn told the Post.
“Once a full and complete investigation is conducted, we are fully confident that Sgt. Duran will be exonerated of any misconduct or wrongdoing,” he added.

Another supposed error in Arizona’s upcoming Presidential Preference Election was recently discovered to have flipped voter registrations from Republican or Democrat to Independent or “other” in the statewide voter registration system.
Arizona’s Presidential Elections have closed primaries, meaning that only registered Republicans or Democrats can vote in their party’s primary.
The Arizona Secretary of State’s office reportedly acknowledged this issue and noted it is “currently impacting all recognized party preference values” in an email to Arizona county recorders. Adrian Fontes, who served as Maricopa County Recorder during the stolen 2020 election, is the current Arizona Secretary of State.
Still, the only example that was provided is for Republican voter registrations. The email reads,
Please, as you action VR Updates make sure your team verifies the correct voter party preference is selected until AVID is updated to account for this unexpected change. For example, when processing an EZ Voter registration the party may be marked as “Other” and “Republican Party” is written in. This example record would need to have the party preference marked as “Republican”.
In a way, this appears to be a push for open primary elections and rank-choice voting, which is already being pursued with a ballot initiative titled “Make Elections Fair Arizona Act.”
Arizona Republicans have opposed this measure, citing “voter disenfranchisement and confusion,” while Democrats have refused to comment on their stance, according to Fox 10.
Fontes, appearing to advocate against political parties restricting their primary elections, previously noted that the current open primary rule for Arizona’s regular primary elections does not apply to Presidential Preference Elections.
Note: It (open primary rule) COULD apply IF the parties would allow Indys to vote in their Pres. Pref. Contests…but they don’t, as is their choice pursuant to statute.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Adrian Fontes and Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, the two most prominent election officials in Arizona, also spoke at an event in Phoenix last year to discuss election reform, where they both advocated for ranked-choice voting.
The Republican primary is expected to be more contested than the Democratic primary as liberal megadonors like Reed Hoffman pour massive amounts of money into Nikki Haley’s campaign. It appears that this may help Nikki Haley in Arizona, considering Democrats’ plans to rig the primaries by registering as Republicans to vote against Trump.
After exhausting the scheme to rig the voting machines on election day so that 60% fail on in-person voters, as they did for Republican voters last election, it appears Arizona’s crooked election officials are working on a new way to take Trump out.

This could also impact the 2024 General election with the same errors that were seen in 2022, where Republicans were forced to vote provisionally on election day due to random changes in their voter registrations.
Arizona Daily Independent reports,
Governor Katie Hobbs’ Elections Task Force’s final report issued in November 2023, which critics described as a “confession,” addressed the systemic failures of the EZ Voter system.
Those failures were brought into sharp focus as a result of the narrow vote split between Kris Mayes and Abe Hamadeh in the 2022 Arizona Attorney General’s race.
Hamadeh was found during a statewide recount announced Dec. 29 to have fallen short of Mayes by 280 votes out of more than 2.5 million ballots.
While Hamadeh’s attorneys prepared for his election challenge, they discovered a number of issues that disenfranchised certain voters, among those were Arizona residents who were forced to cast provisional ballots through no fault of their own, but through failures in Arizona’s dysfunctional voter registration system.
This is not a good sign for the integrity of Arizona’s 2024 election.

Almost five hundred years ago, Hindu deity Lord Ram was dislodged from his birthplace when his temple was razed to the ground by invading Islamic forces that subsequently built a Mosque in its stead.
Now, after centuries of struggle, and three and a half decades of political promises, Ram returns with a monumental temple that is rekindling the flames of the Hindu renaissance.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the consecration ceremony. He chanted Hindu religious verses, placed flower petals at the feet of the ancient Ram idol.
He joined his palms in prayer, bowed before it and circled a sacred flame. Outside, a helicopter showered petals on the temple.
The Hindu majority in the world’s most populous nation celebrates.
Nationalist portray the temple as part of a Hindu awakening after past centuries of subjugation by Muslim invaders and colonial powers.

“The temple in the city of Ayodhya has been a contentious issue that helped catapult the BJP to prominence and power, and delivers on its 35-year-old promise, which analysts say should help Modi as he seeks a rare third term in an election due by May.
For decades, the temple site was bitterly contested by Hindus and minority Muslims, leading to nationwide riots in 1992 that killed 2,000 people, mainly Muslims, police say, after a Hindu mob destroyed a 16th-century mosque that had stood there.”
As you would expect, MSM tells the millenary story beginning with a Mosque destroyed in 1992 – so as to portray Muslims as innocent victims. The Ram temple destroyed in 1528 does not matter to them.
The Indian Supreme Court thought it did matter, and in 2019, handed over the land to Hindus. The court also ordered allotment of a separate plot to Muslims where construction of a new mosque is yet to begin.
“‘Lord Ram has arrived. Our Ram lalla (child) will no longer live in a tent, our Ram lalla will reside in this divine temple’, Modi said, referring to earlier temporary structures which housed an old Ram idol.
‘It marks the beginning of a new era,” he told an invitation-only gathering. “A nation rising by breaking the mentality of slavery … creates new history in this manner’.”
Modi says it’s a new era. And he is right. Opposition parties say it’s been converted into a political event. And they are right, too. Rival Muslim nation Pakistan condemned the consecration, as you would expect.
The world is complex.
“Traditional clarinets played devotional music during the rituals for the 51-inch (130-cm) tall, black stone deity that represents the god-king while monks, businessmen, sports and movie stars watched along with millions nationwide.”
Thousands wore saffron-colored clothes and danced in the streets, waving flags and chanted.
Religious fervor is spreading across India, homes and businesses illuminated as in another Diwali, the Hindu festival of light.
A multitude of devotees eventually broke through security at the temple in Ayodhya.

“The entire stretch of the 13-kilometre long Ram Path from the Lata Mangeshkar Chowk was crowded with people moving at a snail’s pace. As per the Ayodhya administration, devotees from the temple town and other parts of the country had been arriving at the temple from 5 am.
As the day progressed, the Ram Path turned into a sea of crowd. A large contingent of police personnel was rushed to the temple to control the situation. Barricades were put up and entry into the temple was stopped to control the crowd. Gradually, the situation was brought under control.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ayodhya Range, Praveen Kumar said the extra police force has been deployed to manage the crowd. He said people are requested to wait for their turn and don’t create panic in hurry to visit the temple.”

A federal appeals court on Tuesday denied Trump’s request to reconsider its decision to uphold Judge Tanya Chutkan’s order enforcing Jack Smith’s gag order against the former president.
Last month the DC Circuit Court of Appeals largely upheld but narrowed Judge Tanya Chutkan’s gag order against Trump in Jack Smith’s bogus election interference case.
“We agree with the district court that some aspects of Mr. Trump’s public statements pose a significant and imminent threat to the fair and orderly adjudication of the ongoing criminal proceeding, warranting a speech-constraining protective order,” the DC appeals court ruled last month, according to NBC News. “The district court’s order, however, sweeps in more protected speech than is necessary. For that reason, we affirm the district court’s order in part and vacate it in part.”
Trump’s lawyers have been fighting Chutkan’s gag order since she first imposed it in November.
The gag order prevented Trump from criticizing Jack Smith or any of his prosecutors or staffers, any of the Court’s staff or supporting personnel or any ‘witnesses.’
In early December a federal appeals court upheld most of the gag order except for the part where Trump isn’t allowed to criticize Jack Smith. Trump is allowed to criticize the special counsel.
The court said Trump “does not have an unlimited right to speak.”
President Trump’s lawyers in mid-December requested an “en banc” hearing which would be a review from the Court’s entire slate of 11 judges – or for the three-judge panel to rehear arguments against Chutkan’s gag order.
On Tuesday, the three-judge panel that originally ruled against Trump (Judge Patricia Millett, Obama appointee, Judge Cornelia Pillard, Obama appointee, and Judge Bradley Garcia, Biden appointee) denied Trump’s request to reconsider its gag order decision.

A federal appeals court on Tuesday denied Donald Trump’s request for it to reconsider its decision mostly upholding the partial gag order against the former president in the Washington, D.C. election subversion case.
The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals denied the former president’s request in a one-page order issued Tuesday.
A three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the gag order in a 68-page opinion in December, making only slight modifications to its scope.
On Dec. 18, Trump’s legal team filed a petition for “en banc” consideration, seeking either a review by the full D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals or a rehearing before the three-judge panel that issued this month’s decision.
Petitions for en banc consideration are often a final step before federal appellants seek review by the U.S. Supreme Court. A Trump spokesman on Tuesday did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
President Trump will likely seek a review by the US Supreme Court.
