In a move reminiscent of the widespread protests in Germany, French Farmers blocked roads in parts of their country, in a move convincing enough to put the fragile new Emmanuel Macron government to rapidly cave to their demands.
But after a meeting with new Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, the farmers announced that they will continue to protest pending effective government action.
Reuters reported:
“‘We told him (Attal) we wouldn’t settle for words’, Arnaud Rousseau, head of FNSEA, France’s largest farm union, told reporters after the meeting. ‘We told (him) that, to build confidence, he needed to go into the field. He committed to meeting farmers in the field in the coming days’.”
Farmers in France are protesting over pretty much the same grievances shared by farmers all across Europe: price pressures, escalating taxes, and crippling green regulation.
“They cite a government tax on tractor fuel, cheap imports, water storage issues, price pressures from retailers, and government red tape among their grievances.
President Emmanuel Macron is wary of farmers’ growing support for the far right ahead of the European Parliament elections in June. The government has put a draft farming law on hold, saying it wanted to hear from farming representatives first to include additional measures to support the sector.”
France is the EU’s biggest agricultural producer, and farmers have consistently made themselves heard through disruptive protests.
“Many farmers say their livelihoods are threatened as food retailers step up pressure to bring down prices after a run of high inflation. Fearing a spillover from farmer protests in Germany, Poland, and Romania, the government withdrew a draft farming law planned for debate this week and invited farming representatives for talks.”
The ‘green’ aspect of the problems faced by agriculture was mentioned, as Arnaud Gaillot, head of the Young Farmers called for a regulatory pause, saying ‘bureaucracy was eating up too much of farmers’ time and that regulations aimed at cutting carbon emissions were too much‘.
“‘I think we could be on the eve of a big farmers’ movement if there are no answers. Our European [farmer] neighbors, with whom we are in touch, are calling us’, he added.”
As a direct result of the protest, France’s agriculture minister caved and postponed introducing a bill to reform the agriculture sector.

“In 2018 the price of diesel was one of the sparks for the Yellow Vest protests, with the French government keen for the situation not to escalate in the same way.”
Macron is afraid of losing the farmers to the rightwing National Rally party in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
Jordan Bardella, President of National Rally: ‘There is a growing anger against the EU and Macron’s Europe, who wanted the death of our agriculture’.
“[Bardella] claimed that French farmers are exposed to unfair competition from products from around the world that do not respect the strict standards they have to observe.”

In a recent episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Tucker Carlson delved into the phenomenon of an internet personality known as ‘Catturd’.
The show provided a rare glimpse into the life and thoughts of this mysterious online figure, known for his controversial and politically charged commentary.
Catturd, or @catturd2, has become a significant presence on social media, attracting a large following for his critiques of “woke liberals” and his takes on current events. His interactions with high-profile figures, including Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump, have only amplified his influence.
In 2022, Catturd posted this meme on the war in Ukraine, adding, “It’s dumb that I’m laughing way too hard at this.”
The tweet triggered outgoing Congressman Adam Kinzinger – who then threatened violence against the online cartoon cat.

That was quite the overreaction to an online meme.
Catturd did not let this go unnoticed.
Catturd responded: Sitting congressman threatens violence against a U.S. citizen over laughing at a meme they found funny. I can’t stop laughing at this infant.
On Monday, Tucker Carlson released the interview with Catturd. “Meet the man who made Adam Kinzinger cry. Catturd in the flesh,” the caption read.
The identity of ‘Catturd,’ a prominent social media personality, has remained a well-guarded secret. Carlson’s interview revealed that ‘Catturd’ is a man from the South, currently residing in northwest Florida. Despite his significant online following, he has chosen to keep his real name private to avoid further disruption to his life.
In the interview, ‘Catturd’ expressed his disillusionment with both the Republican and Democratic parties, seeing himself as part of the true resistance against a corrupt system. He also discussed the threats and challenges he faced due to his online presence, including swatting incidents and targeted harassment.
Discussing the current political landscape, ‘Catturd’ voiced support for former President Donald Trump and shared his skepticism about other potential Republican candidates. President Trump Sunday evening told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum that he believes Joe Biden will drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
President Trump spoke to a lively crowd at the Rochester Opera House in Rochester, New Hampshire on Sunday shortly after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.
Trump is dominating the polls in New Hampshire after a big win in the Iowa Caucus.
Martha MacCallum caught up with Trump after his New Hampshire rally.
President Trump trashed Joe Biden for his supine response to attacks on US troops by Iran-backed terrorists. He also said Joe Biden is feeble and “grossly incompetent” and unable to finish a sentence.
Trump also told Martha MacCallum he believes Joe Biden will drop out of the presidential race amid rumors Michelle Obama will parachute in.
“Do you think Biden will drop out? MacCallum asked Trump on Sunday night.
“Personally? I think so. I think so,” Trump said.

Former Defense Department Chief of Staff and author of Government Gangsters dropped a bombshell revelation on the Benny Johnson show Monday, revealing that the censorship regime orchestrated by the FBI never stopped and that they are continuing to work to censor pro-Trump Americans ahead of the 2024 election.
As Gateway Pundit readers know, the FBI worked with Big Tech to censor truthful information that could have turned the tide in the 2020 election including the Hunter Biden laptop. The agency even lied about meeting with Big Tech about the laptop as revealed by the Facebook Files.
Patel said that he has information that Chris Wray told Congress that he is guaranteeing the “election security” of the United States but would not reveal how.
Then he dropped this bit of information: an individual (likely with federal law enforcement) called Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and other major big tech leaders and demanded to know whether they had canceled contracts with the FBI Task Force to censor information.
“The media should be revolting that a law enforcement agency is dictating what they can or can’t put out,” Patel said. “But the media, of course, is giving them a hall pass because what they don’t want them putting out is anything pro-Trump.”

Patel: Chris Wray just testified or informed Congress that he is guaranteeing the election security of the United States of America. Now, you gotta ask yourself what does that mean? How can he do that?
Somebody called Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and the other guys and asked them if they have canceled every one of their contracts with the FBI’s election task force to censor United States information.
Ask them. Ask them if taxpayer-funded contracts are still in play from the FBI and DOJ to these social media giants and whether or not they are meeting with them weekly and monthly to talk “election security.”
Johnson: So this is still ongoing…the same censorship regime to ding people or ban people from still questioning the results of the election?
Patel: No, the same people that met leading up to the last election…would go there and suggest, “You can’t put this out.” It is not the FBI’s job to tell media companies what they should and should not put out.
And the media should be revolting that a law enforcement agency is dictating what they can or can’t put out. But the media, of course, is giving them a hall pass because what they don’t want them putting out is anything pro-Trump.
