A former Starbucks employee has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Starbucks for firing him after he fought off robbers who had pistol-whipped him.
The employee, Michael Harris, reportedly stopped a robbery at the St. Louis location where he worked on December 17.
Krupp Law Firm LLC, the firm representing Harris, says that two gunmen had entered the cafe and began demanding money from customers.
“I thought I was gonna die that day. … They walked in, announced that it was a robbery,” Harris told local station KSDK.
Harris initially complied with the Starbucks handbook policies, which instruct employees not to interfere with robberies — until he could no longer do so, according to the firm.
“Harris complied with the robbers’ demands until it was no longer an option for himself and others,” said Ryan Krupp, the former employee’s lawyer.
The two robbers then demanded cash from the register, which Harris attempted to comply with. Unfortunately, he could not open it because it had to be done by a manager.
The robbers grew frustrated that it was taking so long and pistol-whipped him.
After hitting him with the gun, another employee noticed that it had broken — leading them to believe the guns were fake.
“That’s when we noticed and started to fight back,” Harris told the station.

After a fight ensued, one of the men ran off and Harris and his co-worker, Devin Jones-Ransom, were able to restrain the other until police arrived, the station reported.
But weeks after the incident, Harris said, he got a call saying he was being fired.
“Out of the blue, Michael and Devin were fired from the company without explanation as to what, if any policy was violated, or what they should have done differently about the situation,” the lawyer said in a press release.
Krupp told the station that he believes his client was fired, at least in part, because he was outspoken about the incident and safety issues at the store.
“We suspect that this is partially due to Michael’s outspokenness about the numerous complaints about safety issues and prior incidents at that store,” Krupp said.
Krupp believes that these policies are not fair to employees.
“There’s no way that an individual can be faced with danger, attempted potential death of themselves or another, and then once they’ve been hit or downed that they cannot defend themselves,” Krupp told the station.

The Communist-Islamist alliance supporting Hamas is ratcheting up pressure on the Biden administration this weekend with a campout protest in front of the Arlington, Virginia home of Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The protesters are calling for a ceasefire to stop Israel from defeating Hamas in the war started on October 7 with Hamas’ blood orgy jihad attack on Israel on October 7 in which Palestinians from Gaza killed 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped over 200. Several Americans were also killed or kidnapped in the jihad attack by Hamas.

Protesters waving Palestinian flags set up tents right next to and across from Blinken’s home on the shoulders of a two lane road Friday afternoon. Some protesters stood directly in front of Blinken’s home, chanting “bloody Blinken” over a bullhorn. The protesters also drew chalk slogans on the street. When nighttime fell the slogan “Bloody Blinken” was projected on the gate to the driveway of Blinken’s home. One protest sign had the message “Occupy Blinken’s House.”
The protest is scheduled to last “Indefinitely” according to one of the protesters, but at least through the weekend. It is not clear if Blinken is home.

President Trump is set to speak at 1 pm PST during a Commit to Caucus Rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, ahead of the state’s February 8 primary caucuses.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Trump’s massive landslide victory in the first in the nation Iowa caucus earlier this month and his win in New Hampshire’s primary last week. Both states were called early in the night for Trump. The mainstream media, including the Associated Press, even called the Iowa caucuses for Trump just 30 minutes after they began.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A thinned-out primary field and a group of Nevada Republicans loyal to Donald Trump have put the former president on an easy path to sweep the state’s Republican delegates and made the third state in the GOP primary calendar a national non-factor.
Nevada will have two contests in February. Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley will run in the Feb. 6 primary that the Nevada secretary of state is required to operate. Trump will run instead in the Feb. 8 caucuses operated by the state Republican Party, which has decided that only its caucuses will count for the purposes of awarding delegates.
The Republican Primary in South Carolina is on February 24.

Amanda Hanson, an anchor with Action 5 News in Memphis, Tennessee, died on Thursday at just 38 years old.
Hanson had a “medical emergency” earlier in the week that led to fatal complications, but details about what happened have not been publicly released.
“We are devastated to announce the loss of our colleague Amanda Hanson,” the station announced in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Amanda, a beloved journalist, Memphian, colleague and friend, joined the Action News 5 team in 2021 and was the driving force behind the Action News 5 Digital Desk. She was 38 years old.”

Hanson was known for “Dance Party Fridays,” which earned her the nickname “Dancin’ Hanson” in the newsroom.
“Amanda was as energetic of a person you will ever meet. Had so much joy for life, the Lord, family, and friends. Bet she’s dancing right now in Heaven and watching the Memphis Tigers,” the Region 8 News sports team said in a Facebook post about her death.
The anchor leaves behind her husband, Darren, whom she recently married.

The toy store responsible for inspiring the legendary “Toy Story” films is shutting down for infinity after nearly nine decades in business thanks to widespread overall crime in San Francisco’s downtown and the near stabbing of one of its ex-employees.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday that Jeffrey’s Toys will be closing its doors “in a couple of weeks” after an incredible 86 years in business. The store was founded in 1938 by the Luhn family and had seven locations at its peak but declined to one single location at 45 Kearny St. in the Financial District of San Francisco.
Attorney Ken Sterling told the San Francisco Chronicle that the ‘perils and violence’ of San Francisco combined with Bidenflation played prominent roles in the store’s demise.
The store has been struggling for a number of years due to the perils and violence of the downtown environment, inflation, the decrease in consumer spending, and the demise of retail across the world, Sterling said.
“The family is saddened it has come to this, and we’ve explored all other options to try and keep the business going,” he continued.
According to the shop’s website, the store was founded by Morton and Birdie Luhn and started as a five & dime variety store in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1938. It was initially called Birdie’s Variety Store, named after Birdie Luhn. They began selling toys exclusively after World War II and renamed the store Birdie’s Toy House in 1953.
It was rebranded as Jeffrey’s Toys in 1966 and was eventually transferred to their grandson Mark Luhn. Mark’s son and current co-owner, Matthew Luhn, had worked for Pixar as a story artist and writer in the mid-1990s.
Matthew Luhn told the San Francisco Gate last month that his father would give him and the rest of the Toy Story staff ideas throughout the writing and filming process.
“We always went to Jeffrey’s Toys,” Matthew Luhn said. “My dad just closed up the store and said, ‘Just play, have fun’, and let me know if you need anything.”
Matthew Luhn told the San Francisco Gate that shoppers and sales have declined in no small part due to crime. He revealed the situation so bad that a former employee was shoved up against the store’s wall and almost stabbed.
Sterling blamed “the leadership of the City of San Francisco and the Downtown Association” for letting crime run wild in the “once vibrant” downtown.
According to the latest crime stats, robberies across San Francisco skyrocketed 14.4 % percent in 2023 compared to 2022.
Jeffrey’s Toys is merely the latest retailer to shut down due to the crime crisis in San Francisco. Since early 2020, 40 retail stores have closed in the city’s downtown area.
