Trump’s Odds of Winning Election Surges to New High on PredictIt Market in First HOUR of Debate

Former President Donald Trump’s odds of winning the 2024 election surged to a record high on the PredictIt betting market during the first hour of the presidential debate.

PredictIt is a large online political prediction market, often called a “stock market for politics.”

The odds of Trump winning the election increased by over 10 percent before 10 p.m. EST; the debate began at 9 p.m.

The Kobeissi Letter, an industry-leading newsletter on global capital markets, reported during the debate:

BREAKING: The odds of Donald Trump winning the 2024 Presidential Election surge to a new high of 63%.

Since the debate started, odds of Trump winning the election have surged by over 10%.

Odds of President Biden winning a second term have fallen from 48% to 37%.

Markets believe Donald Trump will be our next president.

Bloomberg explained in 2022 that to skirt the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, bets on PredictIt are limited to $850. However, the platform often runs multiple variations of the same question, so users can have much more riding on a single outcome.

“The site’s markets are mostly suggested by the traders themselves, some of whom are current or former campaign staffers who might be well positioned to answer questions such as ‘How many tweets will Donald Trump post from Nov. 20 to 27?’ or ‘When will Anthony Scaramucci’s role as White House communications director end?’” the report explained.

PredictIt co-founder John Phillips told the paper that the prevalence of politicos helps explain why the site so often gets it right.

“Prediction markets function as well as they do and are as accurate as they are … because these markets, like any markets, attract people with superior information,” he said on a podcast in 2016. “In the financial stock market, it’s called inside information.”

The Biden campaign put word out to reporters midway through Thursday night’s presidential debate in Atlanta that Joe Biden has been sick with a cold for the past several days. Biden started the debate looking dazed, with his voice shot and telling an inexplicable blatant lie that no U.S. troops died around the world during his presidency.

Biden spent the past week in seclusion at the presidential retreat Camp David, Maryland where he underwent debate prep with a team of sixteen aides who had him practice standing for ninety-minute sessions. No pictures or video was released by team Biden while he was hidden from the press and public. The first time Biden was seen was when he flew Marine One from Camp David to Joint Base Andrews just outside the nation’s capital Thursday afternoon to board Air Force One for the flight to Atlanta.

Biden looked healthy then and later when he mingled with supporters in Atlanta (awful to think he gave his cold to all those people):

NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell posted at 9:50 p.m. EDT, midway though the ninety-minute debate, “NEW: Two sources familiar with the situation say “President Biden has a cold.””

CBS News followed at 9:57 p.m., “A source familiar with the President’s debate prep confirms that Biden has had a cold for the past few days (via @nancycordes)”

The Trump campaign responded, “Trump campaign senior advisor responds to reporting that President Biden has a cold. “How convenient. He spent last ten days on vacation.””

A National Review writer noted colds could be fatal for a man in Biden’s condition, “Kelly O’Donnell reports that President Biden’s team is telling journalists that Biden “has a cold,” which certainly makes sense given how shot his voice sounds. The problem, of course, is that Biden looks like the next cold he catches could well send him to the boneyard.”

Joe Biden insulted the honored dead killed in Afghanistan and Syria, and their families, during his debate with President Trump in Atlanta Thursday night, bizarrely claiming that no troops have died “anywhere in the world” during his presidency.

Thirteen U.S. troops were killed in a terrorist attack at the Kabul airport during Biden’s disastrous retreat from Afghanistan in August 2021. Three U.S. troops from a guard uniy in Georgia were killed in a terrorist attack in Syria in just six months ago.

Biden said at the debate, “The notion that we were this safe country. The truth is I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any, this, this decade, that doesn’t (have) any troops dying anywhere in the world like he did.”

Biden was confronted by Steve Nikoui, the Gold Star father of Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui who was killed in the 2021 Kabul airport attack, during the State of the Union last March.

The names of the U.S. troops killed in the attack (via the Guardian):

Eleven US marines, one solder and one sailor were lost in the country’s deadliest day in Afghanistan in a decade.

The marines were: S Sgt Darin T Hoover, 31, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Sgt Johanny Rosariopichardo, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts; Sgt Nicole L Gee, 23, of Sacramento, California; Cpl Hunter Lopez, 22, of Indio, California; Cpl Daegan W Page, 23, of Omaha, Nebraska; Cpl Humberto A Sanchez, 22, of Logansport, Indiana; L/Cpl David L Espinoza, 20, of Rio Bravo, Texas; L/Cpl Jared M Schmitz, 20, of St Charles, Missouri; L/Cpl Rylee J McCollum, 20, of Jackson, Wyoming; L/Cpl Dylan R Merola, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga, California; and L/Cpl Kareem M Nikoui, 20, of Norco, California.

The sailor who was killed was Navy Hospitalman Maxton W Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio.

The soldier was SSgt Ryan C Knauss, 23, of Corryton, Tennessee.

Excerpt from the Department of Defense statement on the deadly attack in Syria January 28, 2024:

Three U.S. soldiers were killed yesterday in Jordan, while more than 40 other service members were injured following an uncrewed aerial system attack at a military base near the Syrian border. Those service members were in Jordan to support Operation Inherent Resolve, which is the U.S. and coalition mission to ensure the defeat of ISIS.

The three soldiers killed are Sgt. William Jerome Rivers of Carrollton, Georgia; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders of Waycross, Georgia; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett of Savannah, Georgia. All three were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, Fort Moore, Georgia.

The attack occurred in the early morning at the logistics support base located at Tower 22 of the Jordanian Defense Network. Approximately 350 U.S. Army and Air Force personnel are deployed to the base. The three soldiers were killed when a one-way uncrewed aerial system impacted their container housing units.
