POLL: Trump Edging Biden Among Latino Voters in Blue New York

POLL: Trump Edging Biden Among Latino Voters in Blue New York

Joe Biden’s intentional border crisis is going to take center stage in the 2024 election. The issue is driving voters right into Trump’s arms.

In New York, Trump is overtaking Biden among Latino voters and it’s largely because of the invasion taking place at the southern border.

Latino voters are typically seen as part of the Democrat coalition and this is a blue state.

The New York Post reports:

Trump edges Biden among New York Latinos as migrant crisis rages: poll

President Biden’s popularity has plummeted so precipitously in New York that he trails former President Donald Trump among Latino voters amid the unrelenting migrant crisis — though the Empire State would still vote blue in a 2024 matchup between the two, according to a new survey.

Trump leads Biden 42% to 39% among Hispanic voters with the remainder undecided, according to the Siena College Poll released Monday.

As recently as November, the incumbent Democrat led his predecessor by 27 points in the traditionally left-leaning demographic.

“I would think it’s very concerning [for Biden]” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg. “It fits in with what we’re seeing nationally.”

Biden, 81, beat Trump, 77, by 23 percentage points in New York in 2020. This time, however, the president leads Trump by just nine points, 46% to 37%, which tracks with Biden trailing the 45th president in other battleground states.

When independent candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West are included, Biden and Trump’s vote share drops to 41% and 32%, respectively.

Republicans should not write off New York in November. It looks like the state is in play.

This is wild to the point where I don’t believe it. Trump leads Biden among New York Latinos 42% to 39%. But even more insane Trump, who lost NY to Biden by 23 points, is only down 9 in New York 46% to 37%. Crazy https://t.co/9AMSNNFVKH

Trump winning New York would be monumental and a huge embarrassment for Democrats. Could it happen?

Columnist Says Trump’s ‘Track to Victory’ Began at This Moment

Last year after a train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, spilling toxic chemicals, Joe Biden blew it off saying that he would visit there at some point.

Almost a year later, Biden has still not visited.

Trump went there almost immediately and told the people there that they were not forgotten. He talked with residents and brought clean water. He met with the mayor. And this, according to one writer, was the moment that sealed destiny.

Salena Zito is one of the few columnists in America who understood the MAGA phenomenon long before other people in her industry.

She writes at the Washington Examiner:

Trump’s track to victory began when train derailed

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — The sleet and rain were unforgiving here on Feb. 22, 2023, the day former President Donald Trump came to this small Columbiana County village. Despite the weather and concerns about what was in the air or what kind of chemical was lurking in the pools of mud they were walking in, folks by the hundreds lined up along Main Street as Trump’s motorcade filled with state and local law enforcement sirened its way into town.

Men and women, young and old, children, teenagers, and a couple of dozen Amish families all waited in the icy rain along the designated route in anticipation of Trump showing up to their town, just under a month after a 38-car Norfolk Southern train dumped poisonous residue into the air…

If you had visited here for weeks — as I had, reporting about the disaster — you understood, more than anything else, that the people here wanted to know that those in power would help them. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), just weeks post swearing-in, was here multiple times. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) also came. However, the person with the most power, President Joe Biden, had not come, nor would he ever.

Vance told me that Trump did a great service to the residents of East Palestine by forcing the political class to care about them.

“His visit filled the leadership vacuum left behind by Joe Biden’s indifference toward this disaster,” he said. “It sent a clear message to the rest of the country that these people are our fellow Americans and we can’t leave them behind.”

Zito makes an excellent observation about all of this and shows that she still gets Trump better than most journalists.

“In the constant autopsy of what other candidates got wrong we forget to talk about what Trump got right & this was one of those moments that were pivotal that people have overlooked”

Biden parties with Hollywood celebs while Trump visits places like East Palestine. The choice couldn’t be more clear.

Nikki Haley Vows to Stay in Race (Video)

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley vowed to stay in the Republican presidential race Tuesday night after polls closed in New Hampshire and the first-in-the-nation primary was called for President Trump within minutes. Trump won the Iowa caucus last week, with Haley placing third. Iowa second place finisher Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dropped out of the race on Sunday and endorsed Trump, leaving the race between Trump and Haley.

Speaking to a supporters in Concord, Haley congratulated Trump on his victory, but then said, “This race is far from over. There are dozens of states left to go and the next one is my sweet state of South Carolina!”

Haley has a robust fundraising schedule with 15 fundraisers set for the next month. The next GOP primary is in South Carolina on February 24. (The Nevada caucus is February 8.)

Haley said, “Well, I’m a fighter, and I’m scrappy. And now we’re the last one standing next to Donald Trump.”

Haley said her being in the race is not personal against Trump, but that it was “time to put the negativity and chaos behind us.”

After criticizing Biden and Congress, Haley turned her fire on Trump, blaming him for Republicans losing elections in 2018, 2020 and 2022, claiming Democrats want to run against Trump.

Haley said of Trump, “With Donald Trump you have one bout of chaos after another: this court case, that controversy, this tweet, that senior moment. You can’t fix Joe Biden’s chaos with Republican chaos.”

Haley brought up Trump recently saying “Nikki Haley” instead of “Nancy Pelosi” when talking about January 6, and mentioned her call for politicians over 75 to take a competency test. Haley called on Trump to debate her to prove his mental competency.

Haley said she is looking forward to campaigning in South Carolina. The most recent poll there (by a Trump pollster) shows Trump crushing Haley in her home state 68 percent to 28 percent. Trump has the endorsement of just about every major Republican office holder in South Carolina including Governor Henry McMaster, Senator Tim Scott (whom Haley appointed to the Senate in 2012), Senator Lindsey Graham and firebrand Rep. Nancy Mace.

Haley posted a clip from her speech attacking Trump, “Donald Trump’s only strategy is to lie about me and my record. That’s not going to work in South Carolina. The people of South Carolina know that I cut their taxes, passed one of the toughest immigration bills in the country, and moved thousands from welfare to work. #LetsGo”

Trump Speaks to Supporters After Winning New Hampshire Primary: ‘What a Great Victory’ (VIDEO)

Trump Speaks to Supporters After Winning New Hampshire Primary: ‘What a Great Victory’ (VIDEO)

The New Hampshire Primary race has been called for Donald Trump. It was a decisive victory despite thousands of Democrats turning out to vote for Nikki Haley.

Trump spoke to supporters after the race was called and took a few shots at Nikki Haley for vowing to stay in the race.

He correctly pointed out that he is polling way out in front in her home state of South Carolina.

The Hill reports:

Trump tears into Haley after New Hampshire victory

Former President Trump on Tuesday lambasted Nikki Haley after he defeated her in the New Hampshire primary, pressuring his lone major rival in the GOP nominating contest to suspend her campaign.

“I have to tell you it was very interesting because I said ‘Wow what a great victory,’ but then somebody ran up to the stage all dressed up nicely when it was at 7, but now I just walked up and it was at 14,” Trump said, mocking Haley for delivering remarks to supporters after the race was called in his favor.

“Let’s not have somebody take a victory when she had a very bad night. She had a very bad night,” Trump said.

Later, he added that he couldn’t let his former United Nations ambassador “get away with bulls–t.”

“But I felt I should do this, because I find in life you can’t let people get away with bullshit,” he said. “You can’t. And when I watched her in the fancy dress… I said what’s she doing? We won. And she did the same thing last week. “

On to the next contest.
