The Republican Party’s 13th Congressional District Executive Committee in North Carolina, along with its leadership, has issued a forceful demand for a vote of no confidence against RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.
This call comes ahead of the RNC Winter Meeting, scheduled for January 30 to February 3, 2024.
In a bold move, the North Carolina delegation to the RNC has been urged to propose a motion for a standing public vote among all 168 RNC voting members, aiming to remove the Chairwoman due to “gross incompetence.”
Since Ronna Romney McDaniel assumed leadership of the GOP in 2017, the party’s grip on power has seemingly loosened. Under her watch, Republicans have experienced a series of electoral setbacks, losing eight gubernatorial races, three Senate seats, 19 House seats, and a presidential race.
“This incompetence includes but is not limited to, wasteful spending and Republican Congressional defeats in 2018, the loss of the White House, both Georgia Senate runoff elections, and the anemic Republican majority in 2022. In 2023 the embarrassing losses continued in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. In 2024, Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel did violate RNC Rule 11 by prematurely declaring a presumptive 2024 presidential nominee,” according to the letter.
Last year, following disastrous general election results, McDaniel blamed the candidates for their defeat and ineffective campaign strategy.
“We don’t do the messaging; the candidates do that with their pollsters and their campaigns,” McDaniel said.
“The RNC builds the road, all the candidates drive on it. You need a good candidate and a good road to get to your destination,” she added.
Adding to these political grievances, the committee highlighted concerns over financial management. According to FEC filings, the RNC under McDaniel’s leadership has reportedly expended:
$80,000 on alcohol-related expenses
$750,000 on floral arrangements
$1.3 million on limousines and chauffeur services
$3.1 million on private jet services
$17.1 million on donor gifts
Approximately $400,000 on various entertainment expenses, including significant amounts at Madison Square Garden, Broadway shows, and Top Golf locations across multiple states.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Saturday that the RNC is looking at opening a credit line to help pay the bills and compensate for dismal recent fundraising levels.

It can be recalled that donations to the feckless Republican Party reached an 8-year low under Ronna McDaniel.
The 13th District Committee expresses no tolerance for “frivolous spending” coupled with “abysmal performance.”
With the crucial 2024 election cycle looming, the committee’s message is urgent and clear: The stakes are too high for the party to risk further losses under the current leadership.
“Our country cannot wait any longer. We demand action, and we demand it now. The 2024 election cycle is far too important to risk further losses.”
This call for a vote of no confidence, supported by similar demands from District 11, represents the combined voices of 24 out of 100 counties in North Carolina. The committee’s message concludes with a stark warning: “Ignore us at your peril!”

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that artificial intelligence needs “guard rails” after pornographic deepfake images of Taylor Swift went viral this week.
Even the White House weighed in on the images, which originated from Celeb Jihad, a website that hosts leaked and faked images of nude celebrities.
In an interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt, Nadella said that “certain norms” must be adhered to regarding AI.
“I’d say two things. One is again, I go back to I think … what is our responsibility? Which is all of the guardrails that we need to place around the technology so that there’s more safe content that’s being produced and there’s a lot to be done there and not being done there,” Nadella said.
“But it is about global, societal … convergence on certain norms … especially when you have law and law enforcement and tech platforms that can come together,” Nadella continued. “I think we can govern a lot more than we think we give ourselves credit for.”
According to a report from The Verge, “Microsoft might have a connection to the faked Swift pictures. A 404 Media report indicates they came from a Telegram-based nonconsensual porn-making community that recommends using the Microsoft Designer image generator. Designer theoretically refuses to produce images of famous people, but AI generators are easy to bamboozle, and 404 found you could break its rules with small tweaks to prompts. While that doesn’t prove Designer was used for the Swift pictures, it’s the kind of technical shortcoming Microsoft can tackle.”
On Friday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters, “We are alarmed by the reports of the circulation of the … false images.”
“While social media companies make their own independent decisions about content management, we believe they have an important role to play in enforcing their own rules to prevent the spread of misinformation and non-consensual, intimate imagery of real people,” Jean-Pierre continued.
The press secretary added, “Sadly, though, too often we know that lax enforcement disproportionately impacts women and they also impact girls, sadly, who are the overwhelming targets of online harassment and also abuse.”
According to the The Daily Mail, Swift is reportedly “furious” and considering legal action over the images.
An unnamed source “close to Swift” spoke to the Daily Mail on Thursday, saying, “Whether or not legal action will be taken is being decided, but there is one thing that is clear: these fake AI-generated images are abusive, offensive, exploitative, and done without Taylor’s consent and/or knowledge.”
“The Twitter account that posted them does not exist anymore. It is shocking that the social media platform even let them be up to begin with,” the source continued. “These images must be removed from everywhere they exist and should not be promoted by anyone.”

Swift has not publicly commented on the images.
The Daily Mail noted, “Nonconsensual deepfake pornography is illegal in Texas, Minnesota, New York, Virginia, Hawaii, and Georgia. In Illinois and California, victims can sue the creators of the pornography in court for defamation.”
The American Civil Liberties Union, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and The Media Coalition have argued that laws limiting deepfakes may violate the First Amendment.

The Republican National Committee is considering a plan to open a line of credit to compensate for a shortfall from their projected fundraising levels, according to The Washington Times.
The RNC will take up the issue at their winter meeting that starts Tuesday in Las Vegas. Their money problems, both with big-dollar and small dollar contributions, have been a concern since officials announced a $15 million shortfall last summer.
“They’re going to ask the members to take a vote on opening up a line of credit for the RNC, which would allow the RNC to borrow money,” one concerned RNC member told The Times.
A party official close to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the new credit line is not unusual, and that an authorization for more credit is done every year, in case the money is needed and whether they use it or not, according to the outlet.

A House Democrat in Maryland has introduced a new bill that would require any gun owner who wants to carry to have at least $300K in liability insurance.
How are poor people supposed to exercise their Second Amendment rights if they can’t afford such an insurance policy?

Maryland bill would ban gun carry for owners without insurance policy of at least $300K
Gun owners in Maryland would be required to buy at least $300,000 in liability insurance or forfeit their ability to carry a firearm under a new bill.
The controversial legislation, introduced by Delegate Terri Hill, D-Howard County, would prohibit the “wear or carry” of a gun anywhere in the state unless the individual has obtained a liability insurance policy of at least $300,000.
“A person may not wear or carry a firearm unless the person has obtained it and is covered by liability insurance issued by an insurer authorized to do business in the State under the Insurance Article to cover claims for property damage, bodily injury, or death arising from an accident resulting from the person’s use or storage of a firearm or up to $300,000 for damages arising from the same incident, in addition to interest and costs,” the proposed Maryland legislation said.
According to the proposed law, the liability insurance requirement does not apply to members of the military or federal law enforcement officers.
