The Cambridge Union Society is a historic debating and free-speech society in Cambridge, England, known for putting on spirited debates addressing some of the most important, and often mostcontroversial, issues of the day.

During a debate on the motion “This House Believes Trump is a 21st Century Fascist,” on February 6, 2025, Tom Slater, Editor for Spiked, spoke as the second opposition for the motion in the Debating Chamber and provided an epic defense of Trump.

Tom Slater: Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Donald Trump, Il Duce, Der Führer, The Donald, The Roman Salute, The Zekeile, The YMCA Dance. The comparison is so absurd, it practically debunks itself.

Totalitarian control, messianic dictatorship, a cult of racial superiority, para militaries crushing the left at home, a Darwinian militaristic struggle abroad, the worship of war and violence, the mechanized attempt, let’s not forget, to murder all of European’s Jews.

If that sounds like America in 2025 to you, then I suggest you leave here and have a nice long lie down.

Tom Slater: In a second. Trump….I’m silencing all dissent tonight.

You can absolutely say that Trump is illiberal, that he’s want to fly off the handle over words that hurt him or democratic votes that do not go his way. But that does not make him a fascist.

If he was in the UK, that would make him a Guardian columnist or maybe a member of the Green Party. The point that I’m trying to make is that if you stretch the definition of fascism in this respect, it’s not just grim, it’s not just wrong-headed, it’s not just against the academic literature or the dictionary definition.

It amounts to plundering some of the darkest moments of human history, exploiting the unique suffering of those who perished in gas chambers and on battlefields in order to score cheap political points.

It also reveals an increasingly out-of-touch bourgeois left that has become so detached, so distainful even, of working-class people, but that whenever they get together and rebel against the establishment, it instantly assumes they have been whipped up into this by some racist, fascistic demogog.

Even when many of those voters are black, are Muslim, our Latino, record numbers of whom backed Trump in November last year.

That’s a strange white supremacy as far as I’m concerned.

If we accept this motion, we accept the dilution of fascism and its horrors.

We defang that word.

We reduce it to a swear word and a smear.

We turn the graveyards of the 20th century into a playground in which to have our own political spats.

That is an insult to the millions who lost their lives to fascism, particularly European Jewry, and I hope you will reject this motion as a consequence.

Senator John Kennedy has come up with a solution for the Democrat Party’s problems.

The senator from Louisiana made an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday, where he urged members of the Democratic Party to just “try harder not to suck.”

He explained:

In terms of Democrats, I’ve got a lot of friends who are Democrats, and they haven’t asked me for advice. But if they did, I’d tell them, look, you’ve just got to try harder not to suck.

I mean, think about it. Over the past four years, the Democrats mismanaged Congress, they mismanaged COVID, they mismanaged the economy, they mismanaged inflation, they mismanaged the national debt, they mismanaged Afghanistan.

More recently, in their opposition to President Trump and Mr. Musk, the Democrats have chosen to support the bureaucrats and the spending porn over the American taxpayer, just like they support illegal immigration over the rule of law, just like they support transgender athletes over women’s sports, just like they support Hamas terrorists over Israel.

All Democrats are not like this, but the party is controlled right now by people who majored in online activism with a minor in puberty blockers. I know these people, they think men can breastfeed.

They’re triggered by race, they cry if you use the wrong pronoun. And most of the time, Americans look at this and they go, these people are about ten times  past normal. And that’s what’s killing the Democrats right now, in my opinion.

Earlier this month, Kennedy went on a similar rant about Democrats who are furious about Donald Trump’s decision to gut USAID and save the American taxpayer billions of dollars in foreign aid.

He said at the time:

You can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs. Now, President Trump ran for office saying, I’m going to review every single penny in the federal budget. Now, how are you going to review the spending in the federal budget without reviewing the spending?

And that’s what Mr. Musk is doing. Now, many of my Democratic colleagues and some of the tofu-eating Wookerati at the USAID are screaming like they’re part of a prison riot because they don’t want us reviewing the spending.

But that’s all Mr. Musk is doing, and he’s finding some pretty interesting stuff. To my friends who are upset, I would say with respect, you know, call somebody who cares. They better get used to this. It’s USAID today. It’s going to be Department of Education tomorrow.

German national elections are scheduled for Sunday.

The conservative-populist AfD Party is leading in several recent polls. Much of this is thanks to Elon Musk giving voice to the populist party.

In late January, Elon Musk addressed the AfD Party convention and said this about the upcoming election, “I think it decides the entire fate of Europe, maybe the entire fate of the world.”

On Wednesday, German Bundestag member Gregor Gsyi donned a black balaclava mask - similar to what the Nazis did in the past - and released a threatening video on X.

Gregor Gsyi called on Germans to "get active now" before the elections. This was a clear, violent threat against the AfD party.

This will not make any international headlines.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian appeared on CBS Mornings on Wednesday to discuss the plane that crash-landed in Toronto this week.

Ed Bastian refused to identify the pilot of the doomed plane amid rumors it was an all-female crew.

The doomed flight was operated by Endeavor Air – a regional airline obsessed with promoting all-female flights.

What could possibly go wrong?

A Delta plane crash-landed on a snowy runway at Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada on Monday afternoon.

The flight arrived from Minneapolis when it crashed, landed, and flipped upside down.

Dashcam video shows the plane coming in for a hard landing before flipping upside down and turning into a fireball.

All 80 people aboard survived. At least 18 people were injured, 3 critically, including one child.

The plane crash is still under investigation.

Ed Bastian was asked about the pilot of the doomed plane on Wednesday morning and he insisted the crew was “experienced.”

“I can’t provide any details…it’s an ongoing investigation,” Ed Bastian said.

In response to a question about the pilots, Ed Bastian said, “It was an experienced crew.”

We’ve been robbed. Our tax money has been looted, stolen, and wasted. Beyond the imagination of most Americans.

But not beyond my imagination.

Mohammed Ali once said, “It ain’t bragging if you can back it up.” Well, I can back it up.

I’ve spent the past decade on my TV and radio shows reporting, warning and screaming from the highest mountaintops that…

*Politicians and government employees are robbing and raping taxpayers.

*Politicians and government employees are crooked and corrupt.

*Politicians and government employees live by the credo, “We make $170,000 a year, PLUS all we can steal.”

*Politicians and government employees are lazy and incompetent, don’t know how to do an honest day’s work, and live by stealing from taxpayers.

*There are way too many government employees. We could operate the government just fine by firing half of the government employees.

*Politicians and government employees have stolen and looted TRILLIONS of dollars from taxpayers. That’s why people making $170,000 a year are retiring as multi-millionaires. That’s not possible.

After paying taxes, and paying for kids, and college educations, and mortgages, and property taxes, and often alimony too- no one can become a multi-millionaire on $170,000 a year. Something is wrong.

*Politicians and government employees are getting filthy rich by directly stealing taxpayer money…and also by awarding government spending and contracts to their friends and relatives…and by taking kickbacks from whoever is awarded government money…and from taking bribes into offshore bank accounts from our foreign enemies like China, the Mexican Drug Cartels and Iran…and from high-paying no show jobs, stock options and insider trading scoops given to their relatives from big corporations and lobbyists.

I’ve said all of this 24/7 on my TV and radio shows for the past decade. And Elon Musk and DOGE are now proving it all true.

So, how do we fight back?

First, here is what I’m hearing from average Americans. I’m getting bombarded with emails from my TV viewers saying…

*They’ve all lost faith and trust in our government and the IRS.

*Joe Biden and the media lied. The economy for average Americans stinks. Many of them are broke and hurting. Joe Biden left President Trump a terrible failing economy.

*Small businesses are about to fail in record numbers.

*Taxes are way too high. Americans can’t afford the income taxes, payroll taxes, property taxes and sales taxes.

*They now know (thanks to Elon and DOGE) their tax money has been stolen. They don’t want to pay anymore until the system is fixed. Why should they throw good money after bad?

Here is what I believe President Trump should announce to fix this mess. If he announces this, he becomes a hero and goes down in history as THE greatest president and “man of the people” ever!

President Trump should announce…

“In light of all the theft, looting and waste Elon and DOGE has discovered…and this is only after a couple of weeks…the $55 billion he’s found missing is clearly only ‘the tip of the iceberg’…the people of America have lost faith in their government and the IRS…they know their tax money is being stolen and wasted…

So, I’m suspending Tax Day April 15th. I will declare a 3-month “National Tax Holiday.”

No one has to file taxes, or pay a dime in taxes, on April 15th. You get a 3-month suspension. Your new tax deadline is July 15th.

But it’s even better than that. I’m declaring a “National Tax Holiday” for those 3 months. No taxes are due on what you make for those 3 months! What you make belongs 100% to you for those 3 months.

Your 2024 tax filings and taxes are now due on July 15, 2025. And you can use the money you make tax-free during those 3 months of April 15 to July 15th to pay your tax bill for 2024.

During those 3 months Elon and DOGE will make major progress with their investigations and audits. And we will get a handle on how much taxpayer money has been looted and stolen. We will start arresting corrupt government employees. We will clean up the corruption.

So, by July 15th, you can feel confident again, and have trust again, that your tax money is no longer being stolen or wasted.

Secondly, President Trump should announce, “We will figure out exactly how much has been stolen and start the process of clawing it back. And we use that recovered money to set up a…

“Taxpayer Reparations Fund.”

Half the money we claw back will go to paying off the national debt, and the other half of the money will be distributed back to you- the taxpayers- in the form of annual tax refund checks. For the next four years of my administration, you will get your stolen tax money back!

Third, “I promise to work hard to either dramatically reduce your income taxes, and move to a low flat tax, or if I get my way, to fully eliminate income taxes and close down the IRS.”

And fourth, “I pledge to start mandating lie detector tests for the people in government responsible for government spending. They will all get annual lie detector tests, as well as random lie detector tests, to make certain they are not stealing your tax money, or taking bribes or kickbacks.

Annual and random lie detector tests are given to Navy Seals- the best and bravest Americans who risk their lives every day for you. If they’re good enough for Navy Seals, they should be good enough for every government employee.”

If President Trump announces any combination or all of these ideas, he will go down in history as the most popular President and “man of the people” ever.
