Brace yourselves, because one of the craziest stories of the war in Ukraine has just hit.

We would be ready to dismiss this whole affair as just an extreme manifestation of Russian propaganda on steroids – but in fact the story is entirely sourced by Ukrainian media and members of the Rada parliament.

Last Sunday (27), Ukrainian online newspaper Strana reported that suspects in major Ukrainian anti-corruption cases had testified against Volodymyr Zelensky.

Sputnik relayed the report on Telegram:

“National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) investigations center on Timur Mindich — Zelensky’s close associate and alleged ‘treasurer’.

[…] Special security forces (SBU) reportedly seized encrypted data revealing that those in his circle flipped.”

And that’s when the craziest part of the story kicks in, once again traced to Ukrainian sources – in this case an MP.

Yaroslav Zheleznyak is young a Ukrainian economist and politician, former adviser to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.

And before the usual accusations of being Putin’s puppet arise, he was elected in the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary vote a People’s Deputy of Ukraine from the liberal, pro-European Holos party

The story is simple: Zelensky’s attack on the anti-corruption agency NABU, was the result of a criminal case which was being prepared against one of Zelensky’s closest associates, his business partner Timur Mindich.

(So far, this story pretty much reinforces the previous Strana report, but there’s bizarre details involved).

The story takes place in Zelensky’s business partner Timur Mindich’s house, where NABU, according to Kiev media, wiretapped the president himself for 3 months – including in his golden toilet.

Slavyangrad reported:

“The apartment of a businessman close to Zelensky in the building at 9a Hrushevsky Street is ‘like a shadow Presidential Office, where contracts for arms sales, bribes in the energy sector, business takeovers, and which major businessmen should be sanctioned were discussed’, said MP [Oleksiy] Goncharenko.”

Lord Bebo reported:

“There are wiretapping recordings in Mindich’s golden toilet apartment, which also capture the president’s voice. Mindich is a long-time business partner of Zelensky, co-owner of the Kvartal95 studio (Zelensky’s comedy show).”

Mindich has close ties to oligarch Igor Kolomoisky (who invented Zelensky as a political force).

“Zelensky’s opponents call Mindich ‘the president’s wallet’ and accuse him of being the one through whom the main cash flows passed in the framework of the corruption schemes implemented by Zelensky’s government.

According to MP [Oleksandr] Dubinsky, who is currently in jail, it was in Mindich’s apartment that informal meetings were held with the participation of Zelensky, Yermak and other high-ranking officials, at which various business projects in the interests of the president and his closest circle of people were discussed, among other things.

‘Mindich is Zelensky’s confidant, and at the same time Yermak’s confidant, who was trusted to collect cash from all companies in the sphere of state governance’, Dubinsky said.”

Some parts of Europe are finally waking up to the migrant invasion of their countries.

According to the BBC, Greece has begun detaining male migrants arriving from Libya and is no longer processing their asylum claims.

Meanwhile, the government has declared a state of emergency and announced new measures to stop what describes an “invasion” of their southern border.

The Greek island of Crete has become a key entry point to Europe after a 2023 Italy–Libya returns deal redirected trafficking routes away from southern Italy.

Roughly 10,000 migrants arrived on Crete earlier this week, most of them men from North Africa, overwhelming local services and costing taxpayers huge sums of money.

The BBC report provides more details:

In the centre of a sweltering, cavernous hall, rows of men sit in silence with nothing to occupy them but the wait. Signs from an old tourist fair propped up behind them urge visitors to “Explore the Beauty of Nature” with illustrations of coves and beaches in Crete.

But those held in the former Ayia exhibition centre did not come to the Greek island as holidaymakers. They are migrants who risked a journey across the sea from Libya to Europe’s southern tip and were then detained and denied the right to apply for asylum.

From Crete, they are now being moved to closed facilities on the mainland. The right for anyone to request protection, or asylum, is inscribed in EU and international law and in the constitution of Greece itself.

But in a move implemented in haste earlier this month and criticised by human rights lawyers, the government has over-ridden that principle for the next three months at least.

Migration Minister Thanos Plevris has confirmed that all new arrivals will be detained and deported..

“Anyone entering Greek territory over the next three months does so illegally and will be returned,” he said.

“It’s clear a country cannot accept such pressure from migration and not react,” he continued.

“Anyone who comes will be detained and returned.”

The new rules block migrants from moving inland. Previously, many entered through beaches and continued into the Schengen zone.

Germany recently imposed a similar immigration crackdown by ordering immediate pushbacks of all illegal migrants at its national borders, ending nearly a decade of a de facto open border policy.

New York Times columnist Bret Stephens is a ‘never-Trump’ conservative who has been critical of President Trump for years, yet even he is being forced to reckon with the success of Trump’s presidency.

At a certain point, it becomes impossible to deny reality, even for some people suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

In a recent column, Stephens ate some crow, admitting that Trump’s presidency has been ‘more successful’ than he expected.

New York Times columnist and longtime critic of President Donald Trump, Bret Stephens, admitted that the Trump administration is having more success than he expected.

In a column published Tuesday, Stephens marveled at Trump’s recent slew of successes, saying that the president’s term has had a better turn since his first 100 days in office.

“Egads! After a disastrous first 100 days, Donald Trump is starting to have a much more successful presidency. This is not what we, his foam-at-the-mouth critics, had planned or perhaps secretly hoped for,” he wrote.

Stephens, who’s described himself as a “Never Trump conservative,” listed Trump’s accomplishments – and pointed out whether he’s achieved them through good policy or sheer luck.

Among Trump’s positive policies, the columnist pointed to Trump getting NATO countries on board with increased defense spending.

“Far from destroying the Atlantic alliance, as his critics feared, Trump may wind up being remembered for reviving and rebalancing it, to the advantage of both sides,” he added.

He even praised Trump for “courageous policy.” Namely, the bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities last month.

Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts has been running around shrieking about Trump’s economy since the day after the election. She wants people to be terrified and it’s all about politics, of course.

Even as Trump is racking up win after win on economic issues, Warren continues freaking out in an effort to make people afraid.

Over on CNBC, a couple of the hosts talked about this and singled out Warren for her foolishness.

CNBC anchors Rick Santelli and Joe Kernen were quick to slam Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren on a recent broadcast of Squawk Box for her grim economic predictions as the stock market rises.

Kernen presented statistics demonstrating a strong gross domestic product reading for the second quarter and accused Democrats of partisanship on economic statistics.

He argued that people on the left and those who dislike President Donald Trump refuse to acknowledge positive economic trends.

‘Senator Elizabeth Warren will come on and say “Inflation is out of control, and the economy is getting killed by what’s happening by these tariffs,’ Kernen said.

He added that inflation has been below 3 percent and the stock market was hitting new highs, refuting Warren’s stance that the economy is in turmoil.

Santelli said that there was an ‘important lesson’ in Kernen’s argument, joking that you shouldn’t pick a Congress member to be your money manager.

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey recently had another meltdown on the floor of the senate, this time because he was angry at his fellow Democrats for not resisting Trump hard enough.

No one was impressed.

In fact, Booker is getting mocked over it by pretty much everyone in all corners of the political media landscape.

The guys on 2Way called it hysteria.

MSNBC Democrats mock Cory Booker’s political ‘theater’ stunt on the Senate floor

Democratic MSNBC panelists mocked Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., on Wednesday for his recent grandstanding behavior on the Senate floor, arguing it was more about boosting his public image rather than solving problems…

Panelists of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” were not impressed.

“Well, it’s great theater that we just saw. Cory Booker, a good guy, standing up and yelling on the floor of the United States Senate,” MSNBC contributor Mike Barnicle said on Wednesday. “What I don’t understand is he’s yelling at two other Democrats. The Democrats have enough problems in this country defining themselves to people, making sure people know they are alive, they are interested in your life, they are interested in you, solving problems.”

MSNBC analyst and former Democratic senator Claire McCaskill argued that Booker is simply playing to the desires of the Democratic Party’s base.

“Here’s what’s going on. The Democratic base is starving for a fighter. They’re starving for a fight,” she said. “They want people to fight Donald Trump, because everyone is so frustrated and angry and depressed at everything he’s doing and how he’s doing it, and the cowardice of the Republicans across the aisle in the Senate who are knowingly doing terrible things and casting votes that I would never dreamt they would have cast, when I was serving with them in the Senate.”

Booker is a clown who is performing theater for the Democrat base. Many Democrats are doing this, essentially competing for who can look the angriest over Trump. None of it is real. It’s just a show for their base.
