On July 3, 2025, Russia became the first country to formally recognize the Taliban-led government of Afghanistan, referring to it as the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry accepted the credentials of Taliban-appointed ambassador Mawlawi Gul Hassan, while a white flag bearing the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, was raised over the Afghan embassy in Moscow.

The Shahada, written in Arabic, reads: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” The Taliban use this flag to represent their regime, replacing the former black-red-green tricolor of the Afghan Republic. With its white background symbolizing purity and the Shahada conveying religious legitimacy, the flag distinguishes itself from the black flags used by ISIS, though both invoke the same text.

Apart from “Queers for Palestine,” this flag may be one of the most ironic in modern geopolitics. A white flag typically signifies peace, surrender, or neutrality, yet here it represents a regime defined by war, repression, and authoritarian rule. The Taliban have weaponized religion, using it to justify policies such as banning girls from school, persecuting minorities, and enforcing brutal punishments.

The group is known for its medieval practices, including public floggings for moral offenses, amputations for theft, stoning for adultery, public executions for murder, beatings for perceived misconduct, and the torture or enforced disappearance of former government officials and security personnel.

Earlier this year, Russia lifted the Taliban’s terrorist designation. Despite this recognition, the Taliban remains designated as a terrorist organization in countries including Tajikistan, Turkey, and Canada. However, Russia’s recognition is a step toward formalizing the anti-American axis of evil.

Russian officials cited goals of strengthening regional security and fostering cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure. Moscow has announced plans to use Afghanistan as a transit hub for gas to Southeast Asia and was the first country to open a business representative office in Kabul after the 2021 Taliban takeover.

Russia views the Taliban as a potential counterterrorism partner, particularly against the Islamic State-Khorasan, which carried out the deadly Moscow concert hall attack in March 2024 that killed 143 people. Moscow sees engagement as necessary given the Taliban’s territorial control. The recognition aligns with Russia’s broader strategy to counter Western influence, build alternative political structures outside the Western-led global order, and restore its image as an influential global power following recent setbacks in the Middle East.

China welcomed Russia’s recognition, with foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stating that “Afghanistan should not be excluded from the international community.” China has been building relations with the Taliban since before the US withdrawal, hosting peace negotiations in 2019 and making major investments, including a 25-year oil extraction contract signed by China National Petroleum Company in 2023.

China appointed Zhao Sheng as its ambassador to Afghanistan in September 2023, becoming the first country to name a full ambassador to Taliban-ruled Afghanistan since the group seized power in 2021. On January 30, 2024, China also became the first country to formally accept the credentials of a Taliban ambassador when President Xi Jinping received Ambassador Mawlawi Asadullah (also known as Bilal Karimi) at a ceremony in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People.

Many regional countries, including China, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Qatar, and the UAE, kept their embassies open during the Taliban’s takeover on August 15, 2021. In the immediate aftermath, only the Russian and Chinese embassies were fully operational, guarded by Taliban fighters. Russia is one of the few countries that has maintained continuous embassy operations in Kabul, and China is among a handful that have sustained diplomatic presence since the Taliban’s return.

Experts suggest China may take the next step and officially recognize the Taliban government at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in August 2025.

The primary obstacle to international recognition remains the Taliban’s systematic violation of women’s rights, creating what experts call “gender apartheid.” Afghanistan is now the only country where girls are banned from education beyond sixth grade. The Taliban has issued at least 70 decrees targeting women’s autonomy, including bans on most professions, traveling without male guardians, and accessing parks, gyms, and universities. During the Taliban’s previous rule (1996-2001), only Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates provided recognition due to the group’s denial of international law and human rights violations.

A former Taliban official acknowledged that “Russia and China can’t financially support us the way the Americans did,” noting that “only America and its allies can bring real relief” to Afghanistan. The Taliban remains unable to access billions of dollars in Afghan government funds frozen in US institutions.

Much speculation has surrounded China and Russia’s interest in Afghanistan’s resource wealth, but the potential benefits have been vastly overstated. While the country’s mineral reserves are estimated to be worth up to $3 trillion, including approximately $1.4 trillion in rare earth elements, these resources remain underground and untapped. Extracting them would require billions in investment and years of development to establish mines, processing facilities, and transport infrastructure. So far, not even China has been willing to commit the capital. Any nation that does invest heavily would face long-term exposure to financial risk and potential extortion by the Taliban.

Russia’s recognition of the Taliban could prompt other countries to follow suit, especially if China also grants recognition. Together, Moscow and Beijing might influence nations already within their geopolitical orbit, ranging from North Korea and Iran to members of the CSTO, SCO, and BRICS. However, such recognition remains largely symbolic. Afghanistan is already closely aligned with both Russia and China, so formal recognition changes little in practical terms. Given that most of the international community remains opposed to legitimizing the Taliban regime, UN recognition and voting rights remain a distant prospect. As a result, no significant increase in diplomatic support from Russia or China is likely to follow.

“In terms of bigger ideas about art on the right, this is something I’m deeply passionate about," Dan Fleuette told The Gateway Pundit. "The gatekeepers of the art world–in art galleries, Hollywood, the music industry, and in publishing–all completely ostracize artists on the right."

"And so, you're gonna call yourself an artist, and then gatekeep the art world from anyone who doesn’t think like you? Come on. The art you see nowadays isn’t just censored. It’s bland, boring, and tiresome. You know how they talk about fatigue?" Fleuette said. "Well, I’ve got art fatigue. I just can’t stand it anymore."

Pouring fine tea from a large, steaming pot of his favorite English Breakfast, Fleuette doctored it by mixing at least ten whole sugar cubes and as much milk as possible into the pot.  

"I tune it all out, because there is no art anymore," Fleuette said. "The art community nowadays is completely broken. It’s spoiled rotten." 

"Just look at any movement that comes out of Hollywood. It’s all ideological–for photographers, gallery owners, musicians, performing artists, and writers–it's all for nothing, because you can no longer be an individual. You have to be one of the mob, which is the complete opposite of an artist.”

“So for me, no self-respecting artist can call themselves part of the left. If you’re of the left, you can’t actually be an artist, because you’re not allowed to say anything new, or rich, or true to yourself, or true to the greater world. You’re stuck in an ideological straightjacket."

"So my portrait book is my response to that pathetic idea," Fleuette said.

Fleuette identified the new American left as the most severe force in deadening both the souls of artists, and the vitality of the arts in recent decades. Still, Fleuette strongly holds that the arts, by definition, must transcend politics. For that reason, he has always regarded Rebels, Rogues, and Outlaws as an exercise in art for art’s sake.

“The point of my book isn’t that my subjects are MAGA, or that they hold any particular point of view. The fact is, every one of them is a rebel in their own right. That spirit runs through my book: the fight, the defiance, the willingness to face every consequence and still say, ‘You know what? Fuck you. I’m doing it anyway.’"

"My book is my own response to that courage. I want to celebrate that spirit, that bravery," Fleuette said.

“For me, it's not about making so-called right-wing art. It's just about making good art."

“Nowadays, you can't really divorce art from politics. All art is inherently political these days, because you'll be judged on your adherence to the orthodoxy, or not," Fleuette said.

"You can't simply remove yourself from your opinions, your ideology, or the way you look at the world. As an artist, your job is to convey the world as you see it. And being true to yourself is the most important thing."

"It's not about toeing the line or saying the ‘right’ thing. That’s bullshit.”

"The great artists that have provoked change, or a new way of looking at the world, have always been outsiders at the start. And they’ve been true to themselves. Artists have traditionally been anti-establishment. Not all great artists were successful in their lifetimes, but in retrospect, we can see how they changed art, or changed conversations about art, about society, about life." 

“I’m not bold enough to think my book will spark that kind of conversation, but this is my contribution to that spirit of being an individual," Fleuette said.

In June, 2025, The Gateway Pundit reported that a new study in the British Journal of Social Psychology conclusively demonstrated that the political right “diverges widely” in thought, whereas the political left “coalesces around a very narrow set of opinion.”

The British Journal of Social Psychology published five heatmap charts objectively confirming, based on the network modeling data of surveyed subjects, that left-wing ideology remains heavily flatlined, in spite of all recent change in the political arena.

"The left have such a perverted way of understanding the right. Hell, my own brother won’t talk to me anymore because Trump is in the White House. It makes no sense," Fleuette said. 

"Starting in about 2012, I noticed a hesitancy among some people we worked with over the years to engage. Now, many of them are openly hostile. I’ve even had craftsmen walk off set in the middle of a shoot because they couldn’t handle who they’re working with. It’s astounding.” 

“If you're not pushing a particular agenda, you will not get funding. So who are we kidding here? The problem is when gatekeepers enforce a certain bigger political ideology. When they subvert and oppress artists, people won’t stand for it.”

“So now is the time for a shift in the art world. People are sick of the garbage literature and bullshit Hollywood movies. Book sales are down. Movie sales are down. No one can stand watching this stuff anymore. It's all trash. And people are tuning out in droves."

“But it doesn’t have to be that way. The industry is facilitating its own demise by churning out garbage. And a lot of people can’t even fully articulate why they’re done with it. They just know it’s bullshit. So they tune out. They walk away. They roll their eyes and say, ‘I’m not watching this stupid shit.’”

“And in the end, you can only cancel so many people before there's no one left. At some point soon, a critical mass of people will say, ‘Fuck you. I’m doing my own thing," Fleuette said.

Concerning his personal pursuits, Fleuette is now actively developing another book. Additionally, Fleuette is collaborating with numerous well-known artists, at home and abroad.

“I am writing another book. It's not exactly a portrait book, but it will have portrait elements. It's a series of short stories–some made up, and others inspired by real events. It’s a fantastical memoir with photography, images, and text–but very linear," Fleuette said.

“And fortunately, a number of artists on the right are now starting to gain traction, as they find today's environment to be slightly less chilling. More people are opening up to the idea that artists on the right have talent and passion."

“It’s great to see, and I want to be at the forefront of that. I am actively collaborating with a number of artists, including Sean Danconia in Palm Beach, and the infamous Matthew Glamorre–an icon in the UK club scene."

"And it won’t end there. My goal is to help great artists gain recognition, especially when they run counter to the prevailing dominant culture."

“I firmly believe that President Trump’s elimination of DEI orthodoxy, along with Ambassador Richard Grenell's leadership at the Kennedy Center, will help usher in a major cultural change."

"I cannot wait to see it," Fleuette said. “What a time to be alive.”

Euronews reported:

“Thousands of Ukrainians rallied in Kyiv and other cities on Tuesday, urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to veto legislation which critics say undermines the country’s anti-corruption infrastructure.

The protest marked the first major rally against the government in more than three years of Russia’s ongoing, full-scale invasion.

Ukraine’s parliament had passed a bill which tightened oversight of two key anti-corruption bodies – the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). Opponents warn the measure could weaken the independence of the agencies and increase political influence over investigations.

Despite public outcry, Zelenskyy reportedly signed the bill into law on Tuesday.”

In the meantime, Military Intelligence Chief Kirilo Budanov, a young and popular leader that reportedly was about to be replaced by Zelensky but saved by US intervention, weighed on the issue.

“Nations torn by infighting will lose, [Budanov] said on July 23, amid a new law that threatens the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions.”

“‘Ukrainian history has taught us — a nation loses if it is torn apart by internal contradictions’, Budanov said in a post to Telegram.

[…] ‘We have one common trouble, one enemy. Therefore, internal contradictions should be resolved through open dialogue to achieve a single common goal — to defend our country. I am confident that Ukraine will be saved by a strong military and institutions’, Budanov said.”

Could Barack Obama have orchestrated the “Russia hoax” – what Donald Trump has called “the crime of the century”?

A closer look at Obama’s political rise in Chicago and his governing style in Washington suggests it’s far from implausible, and even likely.

While the mainstream media has long celebrated Obama for his eloquence, historic symbolism, and aspirational rhetoric about “hope and change,” his career tells a completely different story.

Beneath the polished image lies a consistent pattern of ruthless tactics and deceptive narratives straight from the Chicago machine playbook.

“The Chicago Way” refers to a hardball and often corrupt style of political operation that uses brute force, patronage, and intimidation to gain or maintain power.

Retaliation against enemies was the norm in Chicago as political opponents were often targeted using legal, bureaucratic, or personal means to silence or discredit them.

Obama’s first foray into politics foreshadowed this approach. In his 1996 Illinois State Senate race, rather than win through debate and democracy, Obama used legal technicalities to challenge the petition signatures of his opponents, including incumbent Alice Palmer, knocking them all off the ballot for an easy Obama victory.

A similar pattern emerged in Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate race. In both the primary and general elections, damaging private divorce records of his opponents were made public that all but eliminated the opposition.

Though he denied involvement, his campaign strategist David Axelrod, a former journalist who had previously worked for one of the candidates, was widely suspected of orchestrating the leaks.

Obama’s rise is Chicago was also bolstered by alliances with unsavory characters. Real estate developer Tony Rezko funded all of Obama’s campaigns and was later convicted of fraud and corruption. Rezko also helped Obama purchase his Hyde Park mansion in a shady real estate deal that conveniently gave Rezko cash for his legal fees and Obama a better price and larger lot.

As president, Obama weaponized federal agencies to target opponents and protect allies. The 2013 IRS scandal revealed that conservative and Tea Party-aligned groups faced endless delays in receiving tax-exempt status and disproportionate audits. Obama famously dismissed the controversy by claiming there wasn’t “a smidgen of corruption.”

Other scandals further underscored Obama’s corrupt practices. The botched “Fast and Furious” gun-running operation and the Obama administration’s deceptive handling of the Benghazi attacks demonstrated a habitual reliance on misinformation and cover-ups. Obama’s false assurance about the Affordable Care Act – “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” – became one of the most notorious broken promises in modern politics.

In an October 25, 2010 Univision interview, Obama said bluntly, “We are going to punish our enemies and reward our friends who stand with us.”

During Obama’s presidency, his administration secretly obtained the phone records of Associated Press reporters and labeled Fox News journalist James Rosen a “criminal co-conspirator to legally obtain his personal communications.”

Civil libertarians were further disillusioned by the massive expansion of NSA surveillance programs under Obama’s watch, despite earlier promises to roll them back.

Racial politics also became a divisive tool under Obama’s leadership. Though he had marketed himself as a racial healer, Obama’s comments after incidents involving Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown were designed to inflame tensions and reinforce grievance narratives to help solidify his voting base, rather than promote unity.

A revisit of Obama’s radical ideological roots also deserves attention. In his best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, Obama recounts being mentored in his childhood by Frank Marshall Davis, a known member of the Communist Party USA and a pro-Soviet columnist.

Davis was the spitting image of Barack, while Obama looked nothing like the Kenyan student whom he claimed was his biological father. In my 2012 film, Dreams from My Real Father, I presented evidence that Davis was in fact Obama’s real father.

Then there’s Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s longtime pastor, infamous for sermons proclaiming, “God damn America.”

Obama also maintained deep ties with Bill Ayers, a former domestic terrorist from the Weather Underground, who was a close friend and ideological influence over Obama, and likely the ghost writer of Obama’s memoir. Obama served on boards with Ayers and endorsed his book.

To his supporters, Barack Obama remains a dignified and transformative figure. However revisiting history reveals Barack Obama as a well-executed “Chicago Way” con man. Obama campaigned as mainstream candidate, a unifier and reformer, but then governed like a machine politician, with his many offenses shielded by a cheering compliant press.

With an open assessment of Obama’s history today, it’s entirely plausible that Obama himself, stung by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 loss and fearing the dismantling of his legacy, while still angry at Trump over calling out Obama’s birth certificate, instigated the “Russia hoax” collusion narrative. The hoax itself – a blend of outdated Cold War paranoia and Chicago-style vengeance – bears all the marks of Obama’s political DNA: vindictive, deceptive, and dangerously effective.

Last week the House Committee on Homeland Security held a hearing that detailed how non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are “still working to help inadmissible aliens undermine federal immigration law under the Trump Administration,” according to a Homeland House GOP release.

Mike Howell, President of the Oversight Project, Ali Hopper, founder of GUARD Against Trafficking, and Julio Rosas of Blaze Media testified during the hearing.  During testimony, they revealed that the Biden Administration had allocated $6 billion in funding and grants to NGOs through Department of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services, among others.

They testified about unaccompanied children being handed over to the NGOs, primarily at the border itself.  The NGOs would then pass the children off to “poorly-vetted sponsors.”  This has resulted in more than 300,000 children unaccounted for at the border, according to the release.

Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS) shared a specific NGO, funded “97 per cent” by the federal government, made $52 million in FY2020.  However, in 2021, they reported $600 million dollar increase in one year with $658 million reported.   And then, in 2022, that same NGO reported $1.18 billion, with “97 per cent of that” coming from the federal government.  During that time, the CEO’s salary reportedly doubled.  Rep. Guest stated:

“In 2020, Endeavors reported $52 million in revenue. In 2021, they reported $658 million in revenue––a $600 million increase in a year, with 97 percent of that money coming from the federal government. And then in 2022, they reported a record $1.18 billion from the federal government––or at least 97 percent of that. You talk about how executives for Endeavors padded their pockets, that with this increase in revenue comes an increase in salary, that the compensation for the CEO doubled… In an article from the New York Post, they talk about another one of these nonprofits. They talk about Southwest Key. The headline says, ‘Texas non-profit housing migrant kids took $3 billion in grants from Biden administration and boosted executive salaries up to 139 percent to pull the plug.’”

How was the money being used by the federal government to protect women and children?  Another shocking moment came during Rep. Eli Crane’s (R-AZ) questioning of Ms. Hopper.

Rep. Crane asked Ms. Hopper, “what safeguards were put in place to protect vulnerable, unaccompanied children?”  Hopper responded that there were “post-placement welfare checks.”  The checks consisted of two phone calls and if the sponsors didn’t answer, “the case was no longer followed up on.”

Ms. Hopper then testified about a “notice of concern hotline,” where people could report problems or concerns with the unaccompanied child’s safety.  From August 2023 to January 2025, 65,000 calls went unanswered.  Some of the complaints were for things like concerns about the food.  However, many calls were about abuse of the children, including a case where a child complained that grown men were coming into his room at night and touching him.

According to Ms. Hopper, the Trump administration has gone through those 65,000 unanswered calls and made follow-ups and welfare checks.  Reportedly, that child is now safe.

Rep. Crane then asked about the ease with which people could sponsor a child, comparing it to adopting a dog.  Ms. Hopper responded that it was actually harder to adopt a dog, requiring more paperwork for a pet shelter, than was required to sponsor a child.

Perhaps the most shocking moment came when Rep. Crane asked Ms. Hopper how many staffers were assigned by the administration to answer the calls to the hotline:

“One,” Ms. Hopper responded.

Meanwhile, the above-referenced NGO saw a $600 million dollar year-over-year revenue increase from 2020 to 2021, followed by another $450 million increase in 2022.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) called the crisis at the border with unaccompanied children, “one of the greatest failures in American history.”

“One of the greatest failures in American history…I believe, was not keeping track of children.  And it wasn’t like the folks that sit on the other side of this aisle weren’t made aware by people sitting on this side of the aisle that it was happening.  And they failed to do anything or speak out against, really, this atrocity that was happening to children coming through the border.

This hearing is about the enrichment of certain NGOs, and their part in this tragedy.  But also, one thing that we haven’t talked about is, not only that this administration enriched a lot of these NGOs…but the billions of dollars that flowed to the Mexican cartels through human-trafficking…and all of it…was done on purpose.  Because you can’t be that stupid.  You can’t be that dumb.

And so the Biden administration lost track of 300,000 people, children.  Probably lost track of millions of other people, migrants in the United States, as they’re being trafficked all around, some indentured servants.  The children [being] indentured servants and even worse, in sex trade.

That has to be one of the biggest scandals in American history.
