“I Think We’re Headed to a Shutdown” – Vance SLAMS Schumer, Democrats For Trying to Hold Americans Hostage to Fund Healthcare for Illegal Aliens (VIDEO)

Top Democrat and Republican lawmakers met with President Trump and Vice President JD Vance to discuss a stopgap bill that will avert a government shutdown.
Two stopgap bills have stalled in the Senate over the last two weeks because Democrats are blocking President Trump’s agenda.
The government will shut down on Wednesday because the Democrats are seeking $1.5 trillion in spending that will fund healthcare for illegal aliens and sex reassignment surgery for children.
Democrat Minority Leader Chuck Schumer came out of the meeting on Monday claiming he tried to guilt-trip President Trump by bringing up a child with cancer.
“I told him how I met a mother who was crying because her daughter has cancer…and what has happened with healthcare with what they have done, she’s gonna watch her daughter suffer and maybe die. And he seemed to understand the magnitude of this crisis,” Schumer said.

Vice President JD Vance came out of the meeting and slammed Schumer and Democrat lawmakers in remarks to reporters outside of the White House.
“I think we’re headed to do a shutdown because the Democrats won’t do the right thing,” Vance told reporters.
“Democrats want a $1.5 trillion spending package that funded free health care for illegals. We told them that was absurd, and now they’re willing to shut down the government over it. It’s unacceptable,” he said.
“You will hear a lot from Democrats about the fact that American health care policy is broken…every single thing that they accuse about being broken about American health care is policy that Democrats have supported for the past decade,” Vance said as Speaker Mike Johnson nodded in agreement.
“So if they want to talk about how to fix American health care policy, let’s do it. I’d love to do it. The Senate Majority Leader would love to do it. Let’s work on it together, but let’s do it in the context of an open government that’s providing essential services to the American people. That’s all that we’re proposing to do, and the fact that they refuse to do that shows how unreasonable their position is,” Vance added.

Longtime ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum has revealed he’s considering a potential run for the U.S. Senate.
In an interview with OutKick, Paul Finebaum revealed he is considering a potential run as a Republican in Alabama to fill the U.S. Senate seat expected to be vacated by Sen. Tommy Tuberville
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Tuberville will soon vacate his seat as he runs to be the next governor of Alabama.
Finebaum stated, “One or two people in Washington had reached out to me about whether I would be interested in politics, something I never thought about before. Something I didn’t really think possible.”
He then shared, Charlie Kirk’s tragic assassination made him consider taking the leap from the sports world to the political arena and revealed for the first time he is a supporter of President Trump.

SEC Network host Paul Finebaum said Monday that he would consider leaving ESPN to run for the U.S. Senate, representing Alabama.
The 70-year-old Finebaum said during a recent interview with Outkick that he’d run as a Republican to fill the seat vacated by former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville, who has said he’ll run for Alabama governor in the 2026 elections. Tuberville’s current Senate term ends in 2027.
The qualifying deadline to run for Senate is Jan. 26, 2026. Finebaum said he would likely have to leave his hosting and analyst duties if he decided to run. He told Outkick he’d make a decision within the next 30-45 days.
Finebaum said he hadn’t seriously considered politics, but the assassination of Charlie Kirk was the impetus to give a run at politics further thought. He noted that he had received a “text” from “one or two people in Washington” gauging his interest in politics.
In the interview Finebaum noted he was initially not considering a run for office after rumors arose Auburn’s men’s basketball head coach Bruce Pearl who has been a vocal supporter for President Trump was considering a run.
However after Pearl announced he isn’t considering running for office Finebaum began to ponder a run more seriously.
If Finebaum does end up announcing a bid he will face a competitive primary against Republican Representative Barry Moore (AL-01) and Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall who have already announced their bid for Tuberville’s seat.
