Trump advisor Stephen Miran was confirmed to the Federal Reserve Board ahead of Tuesday’s high-stakes interest rate meeting at the Fed.

Miran was confirmed in the Senate in 48-47 vote.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) will meet on Tuesday to set interest rates.

Shortly before Miran was confirmed, a federal appeals court rejected Trump’s bid to fire embattled Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, allowing her to participate in tomorrow’s FOMC meeting.

Fox News reported:

The Senate confirmed Stephen Miran, one of the White House’s top economic advisors, on Monday to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, the body that steers the U.S. economy.

Senators voted 48-47, largely party-line vote in the Republican-controlled Senate.

Miran is set to report to the Fed’s Washington, D.C., headquarters on Tuesday, as officials open a two-day meeting that will help decide the direction of the economy.

The Federal Open Market Committee will meet on Sept. 16 to set U.S. interest rates and broader monetary policy. Those decisions ripple through to borrowing costs on everything from mortgages to credit cards.

President Trump last month announced Dr. Stephen Miran will fill the vacancy on the Federal Reserve Board until January 31, 2026.

Last month Biden-appointed Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler announced she will be resigning from her post Friday, August 8.

Adriana Kugler’s resignation left President Trump a vacancy to fill.

“Dr. Kugler, who has served as a governor since September 13, 2023, submitted her letter of resignation to President Trump and will return to Georgetown University as a professor this fall,” the announcement said.

President Trump announced Dr. Stephen Miran, current Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, will fill the vacancy.

“It is my Great Honor to announce that I have chosen Dr. Stephen Miran, current Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, to serve in the just vacated seat on the Federal Reserve Board until January 31, 2026. The first year of Keir Starmer’s Premiership may well be the last.

Ever since last December, even before Labour peer Lord Peter Mandelson was confirmed as the British Ambassador to the US, we have been reporting here on TGP of the apparent absurdity of the appointment.

Add to that the fact that former Barclay’s CEO Jes Staley received a lifetime ban on working in the British banking system for his Epstein ties, and the choice of Mandelson makes absolutely no sense.

But failing Prime Minister Keir Starmer insisted, and rolled the dice.

Now, after the Mandelson scandal hit big, Starmer is insisting that he will not quit, and is blaming his team for ‘failing to brief him’ on Mandelson’s emails with Epstein.

The Telegraph reported:

“On Monday, the Prime Minister admitted that he had known about emails between Lord Mandelson and the convicted pedophile when he defended the former ambassador to the US in the Commons last week.

However, he claimed he only knew that a Foreign Office investigation was taking place and did not know – nor ask – about the contents of the messages, in which it later emerged that Lord Mandelson urged Epstein to fight for early release from jail.”

There are now questions over Starmer’s authority, and if Morgan McSweeney, his chief of staff – knew about the emails.

“Speaking on Channel 4 on Monday night, Sir Keir appeared to blame his staff for failing to alert him to the messages before he defended Lord Mandelson at Prime Minister’s Questions.

He said: ‘In retrospect it would have been better if I had been shown the details of the material before PMQs. If you’re asking me now, days on, would it be better if more of this material had been brought expressly to my attention? Then yes, it would have been. But I’m satisfied the team were doing what they could to get the answers out of Peter Mandelson that they needed’.”

I feel that the process was gone through and now information has come to light which had I known it at the time, I wouldn’t have appointed him. Had I known the nature and extent of the relationship, the fact that he was questioning and challenging the conviction. I’ve worked on violence against women for years, for girls, for many years. I know exactly how all this affects victims’.”

A federal appeals on Monday rejected President Trump’s bid to fire embattled Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.

The DC Circuit Court of Appeals in a 2-1 decision said Lisa Cook can remain a Federal Reserve Governor, allowing her to vote during Tuesday’s interest rate meeting at the Fed.

The three judge panel included: Majority: Childs (Biden), Garcia (Biden) Dissent: Katsas (Trump).

President Trump is expected to immediately appeal the ruling to the US Supreme Court.

President Trump last Wednesday appealed a federal judge’s injunction blocking his attempt to fire Lisa Cook amid mortgage fraud allegations.

Lisa Cook filed a lawsuit against President Trump, the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell after Trump fired her last month.

Lisa Cook apparently owns three properties, and she allegedly committed mortgage fraud on all three properties.

According to housing regulator Bill Pulte’s first criminal referral, Lisa Cook committed mortgage fraud by lying on her mortgage application and falsifying bank statements when she designated her out-of-state Atlanta condo as her “primary residence”—just two weeks after taking a loan on her Michigan home, which she also claimed as her “primary residence.”

Late last month Pulte sent a second criminal referral on Lisa Cook after she was allegedly caught lying about a third property.

A federal judge last Tuesday evening blocked President Trump from firing embattled Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.

US District Court Judge Jia Cobb, a Biden appointee, issued a preliminary injunction blocking President Trump, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors from firing Lisa Cook as her lawsuit proceeds through the legal system.

Judge Cobb said the mortgage fraud allegations did not meet the “for cause” standard.

Cobb said Lisa Cook (her sorority sister) has also “demonstrated irreparable harm from her removal.”

The appeals court on Monday did not weigh in on President Trump’s claim of “cause” for firing Lisa Cook.

Beni Rae Harmony was suspended after she delivered a heartfelt message to her audience after her “mentor,” Charlie Kirk, was gunned down.

On Monday, she resigned from the network.

“Effective immediately, I have resigned from @WICS_ABC20 after being SUSPENDED for airing a non-partisan tribute to Charlie Kirk this past Friday,” Beni Rae Harmony said.

“Many in the mainstream media have been fired or punished for mocking his assassination. I believe I am the first to be targeted for honoring him on air,” she said. “My resignation is guided by values that are essential to who I am, which I refuse to set aside in order to keep a job. I choose my faith and love of country, and always will.”
