A Wisconsin couple is facing neglect charges after their six children were found locked inside a filthy storage unit in Milwaukeee, according to court documents.

Authorities said the children ranged in age from 2 months to 9 years old.

Police responded to the scene after someone reported a child crying inside one of the facility’s lockers, WISN-TV reported.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to cut a lock to open the unit.

Inside, they found children ages 9, 7, 5, 3, 2, and the infant.

None of the children appeared to be injured, NBC News reported.

But according to the criminal complaint, detectives found a bucket “containing urine” in the center of the unit that the children were apparently using as a toilet.

They said there was no electricity or running water in the unit.

“The only light these poor children had to have was the crack of light that came to the bottom of the garage [door]. We have your children stating that they had no food, that the only food they found was from the garbage,” Milwaukee County Court Commissioner Andrea Bolender told the children’s mother at a hearing, WISN reported.

Bolender added that the parents of the children were lucky none of them died.

The complaint described the smell inside as “putrid” and that one of the children had urinated in the bucket during their investigation.

The 9-year-old told investigators he was responsible for caring for his siblings.

He said they used the bucket “to urinate and defecate” and had no way to contact anyone for help.

An employee of the storage facility told police he had overheard an adult male telling the children, “Sit down and be quiet” in May.

Officers said the parents of the children, Charles Albert Dupriest, 33, and Azyia C. Zielinski, 26, were sleeping in an SUV in a nearby parking lot.

Both admitted they slept in the vehicle with their dog while the children were locked in the unit.

The couple was reportedly receiving food stamps and $2,000 a month in Social Security benefits.

One child told police she was upset that the dog slept in the SUV while the kids were forced to stay in the storage unit.

Prosecutors charged Dupriest with possession of a firearm by a felon and six counts of child neglect.

Zielinski faces six counts of child neglect, WISN reported.

Investigators said the couple told them they had stayed at Joy House, a Milwaukee Rescue Mission shelter for women and children, in the past, but they were “kicked out” in July.

Patrick Vanderburgh, president and CEO of the mission, said, “While we must respect and maintain the confidentiality of our guests and their families, we can share that during [the family’s] most recent stay, we were able to verify that the family had secured permanent housing before leaving Joy House.”

President Trump Issues Fiery Statement After Deadly Church Shooting in Michigan — Frames Attack as Part of Wider War on Christians

In the wake of the mass shooting and arson attack this morning at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, President Donald Trump released a forceful statement positioning the tragedy not simply as a crime, but as part of a creeping, deadly onslaught against Christians in America.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

“I have been briefed on the horrendous shooting that took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The FBI was immediately on scene, and will be leading the Federal Investigation, and providing full support to State and Local Officials.

The suspect is dead, but there is still a lot to learn. This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America. The Trump Administration will keep the Public posted, as we always do. In the meantime, PRAY for the victims, and their families. THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!”

His words follow early reports that a 40-year-old man from Burton, Michigan, drove a vehicle into the church, then opened fire on congregants and set the building ablaze.

At least one worshipper has been confirmed dead and nine others wounded. Two are reportedly in critical condition, and local officials warn that further victims may be discovered in the damaged and burned structure.

At a press conference only moments ago, Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye identified the suspect of the mass shooting inside the Mormon Church.

Chief Renye said the gunman, a 40-year-old male from nearby Burton, Michigan, drove his vehicle into the church and began to open fire on the parishioners inside. The shooter was shot and killed by local law enforcement, including an armed DNR agent, and was killed in the exchange of fire with officers.

The police chief has confirmed that the 10 gunshot victims were transported to local hospitals and that one of the victims has died from his injuries by the gunman.

Investigators believe the 40-year-old man from Burton acted alone, armed with an assault rifle. According to Renye, the suspect rammed his vehicle through the church’s front doors before opening fire on parishioners and then “deliberately” setting the building ablaze.

Kash Patel also released a statement:

“We are tracking reports of the horrific shooting and fire at an LDS church in Grand Blanc, Michigan. FBI agents are on the scene to assist local authorities.

Violence in a place of worship is a cowardly and criminal act. Our prayers are with the victims and their families during this terrible tragedy.”

Pam Bondi also released a statement:

“I am receiving briefings about what appears to be a horrific shooting and fire at an LDS church in Grand Blanc, Michigan. FBI and ATFHQ agents are en route to the scene now.

Such violence at a place of worship is heartbreaking and chilling. Please join me in praying for the victims of this terrible tragedy.”

Des Moines School Board Chair Jackie Norris pleads with the public to “cool down the rhetoric” after Superintendent Ian Roberts — an illegal alien fugitive from Guyana — was arrested by ICE and placed on paid leave.

The scandal rocking Des Moines, Iowa, Public Schools has taken an even darker turn after revelations that Superintendent Dr. Ian Andre Roberts, an illegal alien fugitive from Guyana with a deportation order, was placed on paid leave following his dramatic arrest by ICE agents.

ICE agents on Friday arrested Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ian Andre Roberts, an illegal alien fugitive from Guyana who had been living under a deportation order since May 2024.

According to Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, Roberts fled from ICE agents in his car once they identified themselves, speeding away before abandoning the vehicle and attempting to escape on foot. He was ultimately found hiding in shrubbery with the assistance of an Iowa State Police K9.

Inside his vehicle, agents recovered a loaded Glock 19 handgun, a fixed-blade hunting knife, and $3,000 in cash. Roberts reportedly has a prior weapons arrest dating back to 2020.

Despite this, Roberts was hired as Superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools in July 2023, after a national search process involving an outside firm.

He was granted a superintendent license by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners in the same year, with an FBI criminal background check that somehow failed to flag his immigration issues.

SHOCK: ICE Arrests Superintendent of Des Moines, Iowa, Public Schools – An Illegal Alien Fugitive From Guyana with Prior Weapons Arrest

In response, Des Moines Public Schools announced that Roberts had been placed on paid leave while the district investigates the situation.

Board Chair Jackie Norris issued a lengthy statement attempting to defend the district’s hiring process. She insisted Roberts had passed all required checks and claimed the district had no knowledge of his immigration status or deportation order.

Norris said Roberts “affirmed he was a U.S. citizen” on employment paperwork and emphasized that the Iowa Department of Education had issued his superintendent license without incident.

She placed blame on the outside firm, JG Consulting, and the third-party company it contracted, which she said failed to uncover any red flags.

Norris scolded the community to “cool down the rhetoric”:

Board Chair Jackie Norris:
"No denying the simple fact: yesterday was a jarring day for many people—not only at Des Moines Public Schools, but throughout this community and country.

In 2023, our students, staff, and families warmly welcomed Dr. Roberts into our community, and he has served as an enthusiastic voice in support of our students' academic success and the need to support public education. So yesterday came as a shock to all of us.

I want to be clear today: we still do not have all of the facts. According to ICE, in May 2024 an immigration judge issued a final removal order for Dr. Roberts. We were not made aware of that fact, and that’s very concerning.

I want to be clear: no one here was aware of any citizenship or immigration issues that Dr. Roberts may have been facing. The accusations ICE has made against Dr. Roberts are very serious, and we are taking them very seriously.

Dr. Roberts has retained the Parish-Credanier law firm. They have already provided a statement on their role, and they will likely offer future statements.

As we shared yesterday afternoon, employers—including DMPS—are required to verify employment eligibility for all employees.

In this case, Dr. Roberts completed the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form and submitted the required documentation. Everything the district has on file indicates that Dr. Roberts affirmed he was a citizen who was eligible to work in the school district.

The Iowa Department of Education issued a license in 2023 to the superintendent. The agency says an FBI criminal background check did not raise issues, and Roberts said he was a U.S. citizen on the application.

Later on, we will address the specific steps the board took when conducting the superintendent search and hiring Dr. Roberts in 2023.

Two things can be true: we must support our interim superintendent and staff as they lead 35,000 students and staff on Monday, because our collective role is to educate and support our students and their families.

We must also continue to pursue the facts in this case and understand our school community is still processing this very significant issue.

I also want to be clear about one fact that cannot be ignored: of course, the school district ensured that a background check was conducted before hiring Dr. Roberts. That is done for every person who is hired by the district, and periodic reviews are conducted on a regular basis for all current employees.

On that point, I want to share the steps in the process that led to the hiring of Dr. Roberts.

In December 2022, Des Moines Public Schools approved a contract with JG Consulting as the district's search firm to bring qualified superintendent candidates for our consideration.

Between January and the end of March 2023, the board worked with the search firm on a variety of issues related to the qualifications and characteristics of candidates for the position, as the search firm recruited potential candidates for consideration.

Between April 11 and 13, and then on May 16, the school board conducted interviews with candidates. On May 16, the school board approved our first contract with Dr. Roberts, who began his role as superintendent on July 1, 2023.

As part of their work for DMPS, JG Consulting's contract included their obligation to disclose to the district all known information—positive or negative—regarding candidates for the superintendent position. That included having a comprehensive criminal, credit, and background check conducted by a third party.

In this case, the search firm used a company called Baker U. Banks to conduct the background check, which found nothing related to citizenship or immigration matters concerning Dr. Roberts.

After his selection, Dr. Roberts applied for his superintendent license with the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. The State of Iowa issued a superintendent license to Dr. Roberts on July 11, 2023.

This all came after a career of more than 20 years that Dr. Roberts spent as an educator and school leader in Pennsylvania, Missouri, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and New York.

In addition, DMPS is cooperating with requests for information from state authorities and will continue to do so.

Finally, we all need to cool down the rhetoric. We should promote true discourse and facts, not spread misinformation meant to divide us. Our elected officials need to behave like role models for our children. Enough with the name-calling and misinformation that is meant to divide us.

We are talking about human beings. Our kids are watching. They are online 24/7 on social media, on phones, and what they see right now is likely very difficult for them to process.

While we work to address this personnel issue, we must continue to lift up our district, our students, and staff, and push back against hateful rhetoric directed at us."

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Preventing Shutdown – “We are Just Keeping the Doors Open, but They Want to Shut It” (VIDEO)
September 28, 2025

House Speaker Mike Johnson was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the CR to keep the Federal Government open. He explained that Democrat leaders were working against the resolution for their own political gain.

“We are less than 72 hours away from a shutdown of the federal government. Republicans are seeking a clean continuing resolution,” Bartiromo said.

“The Office of Management and Budget has instructed federal agencies to prepare for a permanent massive downsizing of government staff during their potential government shutdown, specifically targeting employees and programs that are not legally mandated to continue,” Bartiromo continued.

“What are you expecting? I know you have a meeting at the White House tomorrow. Do you think you will be able to avoid a shutdown?” Bartiromo asked Speaker Johnson.

“I certainly hope so. The purpose of the meeting is so that the President can assemble the four leaders, you know the two top leaders in both chambers to come in and have this discussion, and I talked with him at length yesterday about this. And he is going to tell Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries to stop playing political games,” Johnson said.

Speaker Johnson explained how Congress is actually supposed to work on bills throughout the year to ensure accountability of taxpayer money and said that it has not followed that path in quite some time.

“The statutes in federal law require Congress to do 12 separate appropriations bills every year. That’s the only way to ensure stewardship of taxpayer funds, to spend less money and make government more responsible,” Johnson said.

“Congress hasn’t really worked that way in a long time. Typically, instead, what we have is a giant omnibus spending bill at the end of the year because the can is kicked down the road,” Johnson explained.

“For the first time since 2019, we have an actual conference committee between the two chambers to work out the differences,” Johnson said.

Speaker Johnson explained that Senator Schumer was more interested in adding massive amounts of spending instead of working together to pass the bill.

“What did Chuck Schumer do in exchange for that? He declined it. They voted against it, and he said and no, instead, I want to add 1.5 trillion dollars in new spending to a seven week stop gap bill and I want as you mentioned, we want to reinstate free healthcare to illegal aliens paid for by US taxpayer dollars,” Johnson said of Schumer.

“Lawmakers left and right have been saying we’ve got to get back to pre-covid spending. How do you get back to pre-covid spending when you are bringing some of those subsidies that were issued during covid?” Bartiromo asked.

“Right now, we just need a stop gap funding measure to keep the government open so we can have those debates,” Johnson said.

“There is one reason, and one reason alone that Schumer and Jeffries are doing this. They are trying to show a fight,” Johnson said.

“We are just keeping the doors open, but they want to shut it,” Johnson said.

THE WORST: Keir Starmer Now the MOST UNPOPULAR British Prime Minister in Recorded History
September 28, 2025

UK PM Keir Starmer is the least popular in history.

Starmer must go.

Failing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is trying to get his government to function minimally during today’s Labour Party Conference with the rather confusing theme of ‘Renew Britain’ – after all, Labour is in power, and a renewal would therefore imply ousting it.

But another story stole the headlines from the Labour Conference – and it wasn’t even Starmer’s Orwellian push for a Digital ID.

Starmer, according to an Ipsos poll released yesterday (27), is now the MOST UNPOPULAR Prime Minister in recorded UK history, and Chancellor (Finance Minister) Rachel Reeves has also become the least popular chancellor since records began.

The Telegraph reported:

“The finding will be a blow to Sir Keir on the eve of the Labour Party conference in Liverpool on Sunday.

He will be aiming to convince his party that he is the right man to lead them into the next general election in the face of a potential challenge from Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester.”

“The survey of more than 1,100 adults was carried out in the week to Sept 17, after the resignations of Angela Rayner and Lord Mandelson, but before Mr. Burnham had gone public with his claim that MPs are urging him to challenge for the Labour leadership.”

The worst ratings for a prime minister were previously held by Conservatives Rishi Sunak in April 2024 and Sir John Major in August 1994, both with a net rating of minus 59.

“With just 13 per cent of people satisfied with Sir Keir and 79 per cent dissatisfied, the Prime Minister has a net satisfaction rating of minus 66.

[…] When it comes to the question of who would make the most capable prime minister, 25 per cent say Mr. Farage, 19 per cent Sir Keir, 9 per cent Tory leader Kemi Badenoch and 31 per cent express no preference.”
