President Trump on Saturday evening announced he appointed Lindsey Halligan as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Lindsey Halligan served as one of President Trump’s personal lawyers during the unconstitutional raid on his Mar-a-Lago residence.

“It is my honor to appoint Lindsey Halligan, who has been serving as Special Assistant to the President at the White House, as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Lindsey is a tough, smart, and loyal attorney, who has worked with me for a long time, including in the winning fight against the Weaponization of our Justice System by Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats, which she witnessed firsthand when she stood up for my rights during the Unconstitutional and UnAmerican raid on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida. As a Partner at the biggest Law Firm in Florida, Lindsey proved herself to be a tremendous trial lawyer, and later represented me (and WON!) in the disgraceful Democrat Documents Hoax, as well as MANY other major, high profile cases. She is extremely intelligent, fearless and, working with Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, has the strength and determination to be absolutely OUTSTANDING in this new and very important role. Earlier Saturday President Trump went off because nothing is being done about Comey, Adam Schiff and Letitia James – and said, “JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED!”

“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, “same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam “Shifty” Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.” Then we almost put in a Democrat supported U.S. Attorney, in Virginia, with a really bad Republican past. A Woke RINO, who was never going to do his job. That’s why two of the worst Dem Senators PUSHED him so hard. He even lied to the media and said he quit, and that we had no case. No, I fired him, and there is a GREAT CASE, and many lawyers, and legal pundits, say so. Lindsey Halligan is a really good lawyer, and likes you, a lot. We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!! President DJT” Trump said.

Trump followed up with: “Pam Bondi is doing a GREAT job as Attorney General of the United States. She is very careful, very smart, loves our Country, but needs a tough prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, like my recommendation, Lindsey Halligan, to get things moving. What we don’t need is a Democrat Endorsed “Republican.” I will be nominating Lindsey Halligan to be the United States Attorney in this very important part of our Great Country. She will be Fair, Smart, and will provide, desperately needed, JUSTICE FOR ALL!”

Earlier Saturday it was reported that President Trump tapped Mary “Maggie” Cleary as the new Acting US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

On Friday, Erik Siebert, the US Attorney from the Eastern District of Virginia who was under fire for not charging Letitia James, was fired.

Conservative historian and scholar Victor David Hanson recently commented on the murder of Charlie Kirk and its aftermath, while looking at the bigger picture.

Hanson suggests that the killing of Kirk is a turning point for Western Civilization. He talks about the resolve many people feel right now to reject anti-Americanism in our culture and our politics.

As usual, all of Hanson’s commentary is calm, well thought out and constructive.

What is this moment? We’re seeing it in the United States with thousands of people commemorating the death of Charlie Kirk. There’s no tolerance for the usual left-wing, socialist craziness, the abhorrent, violent smears of conservatives who’ve died. And you don’t see major bureaucrats, or generals, or Hollywood figures—increasingly, they’re not coming out and rejoicing because they feel that they’re going to get a big pushback.

This is not violent. It’s just a collective shrug. And what is the shrug, basically? It’s saying we’re tolerant of people with alternate lifestyles. But whether we like it or not, the nuclear two-parent family, for 2,500 years, has ensured the survival of Western civilization. It gives us two to three to four children, and we can reproduce the species.

We’re tolerant of Islam and Buddhism, Hinduism. We have a multiracial, multicultural population. But whether we like it or not, the foundations of the United States are Judeo-Christian, as they are of Western civilization in general. We have no apologies for that. Sermon on the Mount is a unique document.

We also are tired of what I call boutique anti-Americanism. We see Rep. Ilhan Omar suggesting that our elected government is worse than the dictatorship in Somalia; or we see Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling President Donald Trump a fascist, as she has in the past; or we see Rep. Rashida Tlaib just demonizing and damning the United States, even though her parents fled the Middle East to come here. And we’re tired of it.

As the British royal family smiled upon President Donald Trump this week, so did the American people.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll showed that on Friday, 53 percent of those polled said they approved of Trump’s performance as president, as noted by the Daily Caller.

The survey, which tracks opinions of 300 likely U.S. voters, found 46 percent disapproved of Trump’s performance.

Friday’s poll was a major jump from Monday, when Trump’s approval rating was at 48 percent and his disapproval rating was at 51 percent.

Geez.

That means Trump net approval went up 10 points, from a negative of three points to a positive of seven points.

As has been the case with Trump throughout his political career, the president engenders strong feelings on both ends of the spectrum. Rasmussen found 34 percent of those surveyed “strongly approve” of Trump’s job performance, while 37 percent “strongly disapprove.”

During a news conference marking the end of his state visit to Great Britain, Trump said the U.S. wants to undo some of the damage done by the Biden administration when Afghanistan fell in 2021 by regaining control of Bagram Airfield, according to NBC.

“We’re trying to get it back,” Trump said, later adding, “We want that base back.”

Trump said the base’s location north of Kabul makes strategic sense for America.

“It’s an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons,” Trump said at the news conference.

Later on Air Force One, Trump said the base was “one of the most powerful bases in the world in terms of runway strength and length,” adding “You could land anything there.”

He stressed the location was “an hour away from where they make their missiles — China.”

Zakir Jalaly, an official at the Afghan Foreign Ministry, poured cold water on the idea.

“Afghanistan and the U.S. need to interact with each other and can have economic and political relations based on mutual respect and common interests,” Jalaly said.

“The Afghans have not accepted a military presence in history, and this possibility was completely rejected during the Doha talks and agreement, but the door is open for further interaction,” he said.

China would also object, one commentator said.

“Even if the Taliban considered this, China most certainly would do everything it can to entice the Taliban to keep the U.S. out of Afghanistan and has far more leverage and enticements to make this happen,” Bill Roggio, editor of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Long War Journal, said.

Jimmy Kimmel’s downfall was not sudden, nor was it really about one offensive remark regarding Charlie Kirk’s assassination. 

The truth is, ABC had been looking for a reason to push him out. Kimmel’s contract, set to expire next year, gave the network an easy out: if he became a liability to the company’s image, he could be suspended. 

That is precisely what happened. The Charlie Kirk controversy was only the excuse.

For years, Kimmel collected a staggering $16 million annually, while his ratings were collapsing. 

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” fell from nearly two million viewers in January 2025 to just 1.1 million by August, trailing his late-night competitors.

Those numbers told ABC all it needed to know. Why keep paying one of television’s most enormous salaries when the show could no longer justify the cost?

Kimmel’s political imbalance only exacerbated the situation. 

According to NewsBusters, he hosted just one Republican guest in three years—Mike Lindell, who was mocked by being forced into a claw machine. 

By contrast, Kimmel welcomed 13 left-leaning guests this year alone. His monologues became partisan screeds: 1,128 jokes about Donald Trump in 2025, compared to just 26 about Joe Biden. 

Nearly 97% of his political jokes targeted conservatives. Kimmel wasn’t a comedian anymore. He was a political activist with a studio audience.

The network could tolerate this bias when ratings were high. 

But once his audience shrank and his public reputation soured, Kimmel no longer looked like an asset. 

His comments about Charlie Kirk’s death—claiming the “MAGA gang” tried to spin the murder—only accelerated the inevitable. 

ABC didn’t suspend him because of “free speech” or political pressure. They suspended him because his contract allowed them to whenever he embarrassed the company.

The hypocrisy is hard to ignore. 

Kimmel mocked conservatives endlessly, misled viewers about one of the most shocking assassinations in modern American history, and still got paid millions for it. 

Meanwhile, his audience dwindled, his jokes lost relevance, and his public image grew toxic.

Even within liberal circles, Kimmel had become hard to defend. 

As Roger Stone bluntly put it, “Kimmel’s greatest crime was that he wasn’t funny, and that his rhetoric often veered into the hateful. He won’t be missed.” 

That sentiment resonates across the spectrum: Kimmel was expensive, polarizing, and ultimately replaceable.

ABC framed his suspension as indefinite, but the writing is on the wall. 

His contract was nearly up anyway, and the network was already preparing for life after Kimmel. The Charlie Kirk controversy was simply the final straw.

Jimmy Kimmel didn’t lose his show because of one comment. He lost it because his time was already up.

Sinclair Broadcast Group quietly pulled the plug on airing a special tribute to assassinated conservative icon Charlie Kirk on its ABC affiliate stations.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was gunned down by an assassin on September 10 during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.

Instead of broadcasting the remembrance program as initially planned, the media giant directed viewers to watch it online via a YouTube link, while continuing with regular ABC late-night programming.

The decision comes after ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel was hit with an indefinite suspension for making false accusations about the man arrested for assassinating Kirk, namely, that Robinson was a Republican.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” Kimmel sneered.

The backlash was swift and severe. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr publicly slammed Kimmel, and media companies like Nexstar, another major owner of ABC affiliates, announced they would preempt his show entirely in response to the tasteless remarks.

The outrage was so severe that Disney caved and indefinitely suspended Kimmel from his failing show.

Sinclair, which owns hundreds of local TV stations across the country, initially seemed poised to take a stand. The company demanded a full apology from Kimmel and echoed Carr’s sentiments, stating that ABC’s suspension “did not go far enough.” Instead, they had promoted the Kirk special as a way to honor the fallen activist on Friday night during Kimmel’s timeslot.

But in a sudden reversal, Sinclair released a statement saying, “Tonight, Sinclair will continue to air ABC network programming as scheduled in the late-night time period. The Charlie Kirk special will instead be available on The National News Desk’s YouTube channel, ensuring viewers can continue to enjoy ABC programming while also providing full access to the special online.”

The tribute, titled simply as a “Charlie Kirk special,” is now tucked away on YouTube and has garnered fewer than 10,000 views in its first 24 hours.

The accused assassin, Tyler Robinson, 22, is a leftist who was living with his transgender boyfriend at the time of the politically motivated attack.
