The New York Times has decided to go after Mayor Zohran Mamdani over the racial makeup of his administration.

There are a hundred legitimate reasons to go after Mamdani, from his economic policies to his insane housing czar, who wants to collectivize housing in the city, without focusing on such trivial aspects like race.

Criticizing him over something so petty makes the New York Times look very small. This is the least of concerns with this radical.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, one of the most progressive elected officials in America, has a diversity “problem” on his hands.

The New York Times published a report on Thursday headlined, “None of Mamdani’s Deputy Mayors Are Black. It Has Become a Problem,” which says some Black and Latino leaders are concerned that “they are being denied access to power” under the new mayor, who ran on a hard-left platform and was celebrated in the press for being the first Muslim and first south Asian mayor in the city’s history.

New York Times reporter Jeffery C. Mays noted that Mamdani won the Democratic mayoral primary last year without much support from Black voters, prompting him to work with leaders and churches from the Black community in order to ensure a diverse administration.

“But in his rollout as mayor, Mr. Mamdani has appointed five deputy mayors, none of them Black; one was Latino,” Mays wrote before detailing some moves Mamdani has made to help Black voters that apparently aren’t enough for the community leaders.

Mamdani “announced Afua Atta-Mensah, who led his campaign outreach to Black voters, as the new chief equity officer and commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Equity and Racial Justice” and “reaffirmed his commitment to releasing a long overdue and mandated plan to address racial disparities in New York City.”

It’s just absurd. Like, who cares about this?

Two weeks into his mayoral tenure, Zohran Mamdani is under fire for failing to name an African American to a deputy mayor post.

A “Trump card” with an interest rate of 10 percent could be coming to Americans through banks that want to join President Donald Trump in lowering credit card rates.

Kevin Hassett, the director of the National Economic Council, said the concept of a one-year cap of 10 percent could be implemented voluntarily without needing to go through Congress.

“Our expectation is that it won’t necessarily require legislation, because there will be really great new Trump cards presented for folks that are voluntarily provided by the banks,” Hassett said on Fox Business.

“We’ve been in conversations with the big banks, with CEOs of many of the big banks who think that the president is on to something, that he’s got a great idea,” he said.

Banks “could potentially voluntarily provide for people who are in that sort of sweet spot — not having financial leverage very much because they don’t have access to credit, but they have enough income and stability in their lives that they’re worthy of credit,” Hassett said.

Trump kicked off the idea in a social media post earlier this month.

“Please be informed that we will no longer let the American Public be ‘ripped off’ by Credit Card Companies that are charging Interest Rates of 20 to 30%, and even more, which festered unimpeded during the Sleepy Joe Biden Administration,” Trump posted on Truth Social, adding “AFFORDABILITY!”

“Effective January 20, 2026, I, as President of the United States, am calling for a one year cap on Credit Card Interest Rates of 10%,” Trump posted.

“Coincidentally, the January 20th date will coincide with the one year anniversary of the historic and very successful Trump Administration. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP,” he wrote.

Trump pushed the interest rate cap along with banning large institutional investors from buying single-family homes and a push to have Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac buy $200 billion in mortgage bonds to lower mortgage rates, according to The Hill.

Banks panned Trump’s concept.

“We share the President’s goal of helping Americans access more affordable credit,” several banking industry associations said after Trump proposed the idea.

“At the same time, evidence shows that a 10% interest rate cap would reduce credit availability and be devastating for millions of American families and small business owners who rely on and value their credit cards, the very consumers this proposal intends to help,” the statement said.

“If enacted, this cap would only drive consumers toward less regulated, more costly alternatives.”

Legislation to impose a cap lacks broad congressional support.

“Like everything else we, you know, you would need legislation to do something like that, and we’d have a lot of work to build consensus around it, but you got to be very careful if you go forward in that. In our zeal to bring down costs, you don’t want to have negative secondary effects,” House Speaker Mike Johnson said.

The average credit card interest rate was 19.64 percent as of Monday, according to Bankrate.

A federal judge on Friday issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and blocked ICE from arresting so-called peaceful protestors.

US District Judge Katherine Menendez, a Biden appointee, also blocked ICE agents from deploying non-lethal munitions and crowd dispersal tools against protestors.

Six individuals sued The DHS, DHS Chief Kristi Noem and other federal agencies to restrict ICE’s tactics.

Approximately 3,000 federal agents have descended on Minnesota to arrest criminal illegal aliens.

Judge Menendez also ruled that protestors may ‘safely’ follow ICE vehicles.

The judge ruled:

Covered Federal Agents are hereby enjoined from:

a. Retaliating against persons who are engaging in peaceful and unobstructive protest activity, including observing the activities of Operation Metro Surge.

b. Arresting or detaining persons who are engaging in peaceful and unobstructive protest activity, including observing the activities of Operation Metro Surge, in retaliation for their protected conduct and absent a showing of probable cause or reasonable suspicion that the person has committed a crime or is obstructing or interfering with the activities of Covered Federal Officers.

c. Using pepper-spray or similar nonlethal munitions and crowd dispersal tools against persons who are engaging in peaceful and unobstructive protest activity, including observing the activities of Operation Metro Surge, in retaliation for their protected conduct.

d. Stopping or detaining drivers and passengers in vehicles where there is no reasonable articulable suspicion that they are forcibly obstructing or interfering with Covered Federal Agents, or otherwise violating 18 U.S.C. § 111. The act of safely following Covered Federal Agents at an appropriate distance does not, by itself, create reasonable suspicion to justify a vehicle stop.

Separately, the state of Minnesota sued the Department of Homeland Security to stop federal agents from conducting lawful immigration raids.

Judge Menendez did not immediately issue a TRO on that case. She gave both sides more time to submit arguments.

A mere day after NASA and the Department of Energy united to build and deploy a nuclear power plant to generate energy for a future permanent lunar base, now we have an even more surprising turn of events.

A US startup called Galactic Resource Utilization (GRU) Space is planning to build ‘a resort on the Moon’ that would be ready to receive guests in just six years.

Daily News reported:

“It is currently asking hopeful space tourists to pay a £750,000 ($1million) deposit to secure a five-night stay, which may end up costing more than £7.5million ($10million) in total.

GRU Space founder Skyler Chan, 22, a recent graduate from Berkeley in California, believes the hotel will allow humans to colonize the Moon, and eventually Mars.”
