So, former special counsel Jack Smith, the man behind the federal government’s Jan. 6 case, testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday. In case you missed it, Jack Smith sends his deepest thanks.

Suffice it to say, if you missed it, things did not particularly go well for Smith. He was grilled by Republicans over actions he took as special counsel that were pretty much prima facie violations of the Speech and Debate Clause of the Constitution — namely, using the powers of the Department of Justice to subpoena the phone records for members of Congress and was acting not as an impartial arbiter but a Trump-seeking missile tasked by then-President Joe Biden to destroy his political opposition.

“Smith chose to target President Trump, and only President Trump, in his electors case — setting aside other targets so that he could secure an indictment of President Trump in advance of the election,” the House Judiciary Committee said in a statement ahead of the hearing.

The hearing went no better for Smith, either — with one woman, in particular, visibly pained for him during his testimony in footage that went viral.

The exchange in question involved Rep. Brandon Gill, a Texas Republican, grilling him about his decision to subpoena the toll records — phone records who show who was on the call and how long it lasted — of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy just 16 days after McCarthy became the top-ranking Republican in the House.

Gill, not incorrectly, believed this violated the Speech or Debate Clause of the Constitution, which gives lawmakers broad immunity from legal liability or questioning regarding their role as legislatures.

However, when Gill asked a rather halting Smith whether he considered this a violation, he said, “I do not, and I want it clear–”

“You were collecting months’ worth of phone data on the Republican speaker of the House, the leader of the opposition, right after he got sworn in as speaker, all around the time of a major vote,” he said.

“That sounds like a flagrant violation of the Speech or Debate Clause to me, and I think most people agree with me, and Speaker McCarthy had no recourse, did he? Because you issued a non-disclosure order ensuring that neither he nor any of the American people knew about these subpoenas. Is that right?”

Smith, again trying to stall, gave a very long permutation of a response that could have been TL;DR-ed as: “Yeah.”

This goes about as well as you might think,  but I want you to watch the woman in red flanking him on his left and the man in the suit flanking him on his right as he stammers about the lies that went into securing these non-disclosure orders on the toll-record subpoenas:

Do you remember when the audience cries “mercy!” as William Wallace is disemboweled at the end of “Braveheart”? The looks on their faces are the same as these two, particularly the woman.

I don’t know who she is — rumors are flying on social media, but social media rumors are worth the paper they’re printed on — but her rictus is like watching someone find out their hero is actually a villain in real time — as if she were a Yankees fan who just found out Joe DiMaggio fixed games, say. Or maybe she’s really pulling a Bill Clinton here and legitimately feeling his pain at that moment.

The man on the right, meanwhile, looks like a guy nursing an atomic hangover and who’s just been told that while he was blackout drunk, he set fire to his best friend’s living room and now has a restraining order against him. Which, somehow, seems slightly easier for him than the woman on the right. That’s how invested in Smith being a political savior she apparently was, from appearances.

Naturally, all of this could have been avoided if the hero worship of a special counsel trying to pin crimes on Donald Trump for exercising his First Amendment rights and executive prerogative by violating the Speech and Debate Clause with his subpoenas wasn’t directly encouraged by the Democrats and their surrogates.

For instance, does anyone remember this glorious spectacle on CNN, when the network broke into regular coverage to announce breathlessly that he went to — gasp! — Subway?

“Jack Smith going to Subway today is a message to Donald Trump,” John King said, in that beautiful time capsule from the halcyon days of 2023.

“Donald Trump tries to intimidate people, he tries bullies people, he tries to scare you away. That was Jack Smith with no words and a simple $5 sub in his hand saying ‘I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.’”

Well, yes he was, John. First, he was going out of the office of special counsel once Trump got back into the White House, and then he was going before the House Judiciary Committee to answer for his abuses committed in his former role. And let me tell you, I can see at least two more frowns than footlongs in that clip alone, without even counting Smith’s glum face.

You hate to see it. Tuna on whole wheat, anyone?

Disgraced former CNN host Don Lemon is strutting after escaping justice yesterday despite committing a variety of illegal actions in a St. Paul church earlier this week.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Trump Justice Department charged Lemon and 7 others for storming Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. However, the magistrate judge rejected the charges against Don Lemon.

Making matters worse, the magistrate in Minnesota who refused to sign off on an arrest warrant for Don Lemon is Douglas L. Micko, and his wife works as an Assistant Attorney General in Minnesota AG Keith Ellison’s office. Talk about corruption.

On Thursday night, a gloating Lemon went on social media and ran his mouth. He did note that the Trump DOJ would try again to throw him in prison and seemed to cherish the idea of being a martyr.

In fact, Lemon dared the Trump Administration to turn him into “the next Jimmy Kimmel.”

This indicates that the DOJ will not give up on holding Lemon accountable. The former CNN hack may want to hold off on any victory parade in the meantime.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Lemon livestreamed as anti-ICE protestors stormed a church in St. Paul because the pastor supposedly worked for ICE.

“This is the beginning of what’s going to happen here,” Lemon said as anti-ICE protestors shouted down the pastor and harassed parishioners.

The former CNN hack also admitted that he had prior knowledge that the agitators were going to enter a church and disrupt the sermon, saying he was embedded with them and BLM activist Nekima Armstrong.

Armstrong was arrested by the FBI on Thursday and charged with Conspiracy Against Rights, a federal crime that carries up to ten years in prison.

A host of GOPers on Thursday voted to allow the federal government to manually turn off your vehicle whenever it feels like it.

As The International Business Times reported, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) authored an amendment targeting items in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R. 7148) for defunding.

These provisions fund the implementation of Section 24220 of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which passed with the help of RINOS such as Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnell.

Specifically, Massie focused on a rule that critics have rightly called a “kill switch” mandate for vehicles. It ostensibly focuses on preventing drunk driving, but the slippery slope is perilous.

Per the International Business Times, here is how the rule works:

In 2021, the infrastructure law ordered that by 2026, all new passenger vehicles must include ‘advanced drunk and impaired driving prevention technology’ as standard equipment. The rule is firm: once impairment registers, the vehicle responds without delay. Moreover, lawmakers made sure that detection triggers immediate intervention.

Ahead of official rules, carmakers can rely on cameras, on how a person steers, or air sensors that spot alcohol. When signs appear that someone might not be able to drive safely, the system might stop the engine. Instead of waiting for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to act, some brands are already testing these checks inside vehicles.

Representative Harriet Hageman of Wyoming, who backed the amendment, previously characterised the mandate as ‘a massive and likely unconstitutional rule and an invasion of privacy on a greater scale than we are used to seeing from our government.

Despite the blatant tyranny, the House voted 268-164 to continue to give the government the power to shut off your cars.

57 GOPers rejected Massie’s amendment along with almost every Democrat, a development which Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) called “unbelievably disturbing.”

The GOP-controlled House of Representatives knifed the conservative movement and the Trump Administration in the back yesterday by rejecting a common-sense amendment that would have defunded an assortment of evils.

As The Daily Caller reported, Rep. Ralph Norman offered an amendment that would have axed all of the earmarks in the Labor-Health and Human Services (HHS) bill. These earmarks included funds for DEI activism, sex-change procedures for minors, and late-term abortions.

Unfortunately, the House voted 291 to 136 to reject the commonsense piece of legislation. Worse, a whopping 76 House GOPers joined the Democrats on the vote.

Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) was not pleased to see his party betray the American people and asked a great question in response.

In addition to the 76 ‘Republicans’ who betrayed the conservative movement, nine more did not even bother voting on the measure. These included House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer.

Per the Daily Caller, here are a few of the earmarks the House voted to keep. Notice which states are included:

One earmark sharply criticized by conservatives would allocate $2 million to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California, for “pediatric mental health services.” The hospital — San Diego County’s sole pediatric medical center — operates a “Center for Gender-Affirming Care,” which performs various sex-change procedures, according to the nonprofit Do No Harm.

Conservative Republicans also blasted a $3 million earmark for Minnesota’s Hennepin Healthcare System to build a substance use disorder treatment clinic. The hospital system also operates a pediatric clinic offering puberty blockers and hormone therapies to children.

Another notable earmark, requested by Democratic Massachusetts Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, would allocate $375,000 for “arts education” at the Massachusetts-based dancer center Jacob’s Pillow. The organization says diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles “animate our mission and inform the vitality of our daily operations.”
