We have reported here on TGP about the tragic case of Thomas Plamberger and Kerstin Gurtner.

Experienced mountaineer Plamberger has been criminally charged for allegedly leaving his struggling girlfriend Gurtner to freeze to death on Austria’s highest peak of Grossglockner.

“The Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office sees the case less as a tragic accident than a grossly negligent homicide – a crime that can be punished with a prison sentence of three years in Austria. The whole tour had been prepared and carried out amateurishly. On Thursday, the trial against the friend who left his girlfriend behind on the mountain begins.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the couple set off at the foot of the mountain at around 6:45 a.m. The planned route was to lead up the Stüdlgrat, a challenging tour. For the investigators, the drama began at this point: Kerstin G. had never completed such an alpine high-altitude tour of this length, difficulty and altitude. The wintry conditions also made the tour more difficult. Despite these factors, Thomas P. did not use emergency bivouac equipment because he did not expect to need one.”

But now, in a rather surprising turn of events, Gurtner’s mother has come out criticizing the ‘witch hunt’ against Plamberger.

The Telegraph reported:

“Thomas P, 39, was charged with grossly negligent homicide after Kerstin G, his 33-year-old girlfriend, died while they were hiking in the Austrian Alps on Jan 18 2025. However, Kerstin G’s mother criticized the allegations, saying it made her ‘angry’ that her daughter was being portrayed as a ‘naïve little thing’.”

“I think it’s unfair how Kerstin’s boyfriend is being treated. There’s a witch hunt against him in the media and online. The two of them always made their decisions together. Many people who blame Kerstin’s boyfriend have never been in such a situation. It’s easy to be a hero in the comfort of your own home.”

Kerstin collapsed from exhaustion just 150ft from the Grossglockner’s summit.

“Thomas P decided to leave her and climb back down the mountain to seek help. But in the six hours he was gone, Kerstin G died from extreme cold.

Since then, he has been accused of making a series of life-threatening errors during the trip and faces up to three years in prison if convicted.”

Cook’s 22-year-old grandson, Marty William McMillan Jr., was brutally murdered in cold blood in 2017 after meeting someone online.

On April 23, 2017, he left home to meet a woman he connected with on the Plenty of Fish dating app. He never came back.

His remains were discovered months later on the side of a highway in Maryland, shot seven times and discarded like trash in the woods. It took until January 2018 for authorities to officially identify him.

United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has responded to reports that conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson was detained in Israel.

In an exclusive report, The Daily Mail on Wednesday reported that Tucker Carlson was detained and interrogated by Israeli officials at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv.

Tucker was in Israel to conduct an interview with former Presidential candidate and now U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.

Carlson reportedly told the outlet, “Men who identified themselves as airport security took our passports, hauled our executive producer into a side room and then demanded to know what we spoke to Ambassador Huckabee about.”

In response to the Daily Mail’s report, Governor Mike Huckabee released a statement on X and wrote, “EVERYONE who comes in/out of Israel (every country for that matter) has passports checked & routinely asked security questions.”

“Even ME going in/out with Diplomatic Passport & Diplomatic Visa,” added Huckabee.

Conservative podcasting titan Tucker Carlson said he and his staff were detained in Israel on Wednesday following an interview with Donald Trump’s ambassador to the country. The former Fox News host flew into Tel Aviv for a sit-down with Mike Huckabee, who challenged Carlson to speak to him directly following an online spat about the country’s treatment of Christians.

Carlson, who also frequently criticizes Israel for its military actions in Gaza, took Huckabee up on his offer.But as critics and pro-Israel activists began piling on Carlson for purportedly not leaving the airport during his brief visit, he revealed that he was met with hostility in the Middle Eastern country.

Carlson exclusively told the Daily Mail that shortly after the interview, Israeli officials confiscated his passport and hauled one of his colleagues off to an interrogation room. ‘Men who identified themselves as airport security took our passports, hauled our executive producer into a side room and then demanded to know what we spoke to Ambassador Huckabee about,’ Carlson told the Daily Mail.

‘It was bizarre. We’re now out of the country.’

Tucker has yet to release a statement on the incident outside of what he reportedly told the Daily Mail.

However, he did post a photo of himself in Israel.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry has since responded to the Daily Mail’s report and stated, “Contrary to the reports, Tucker Carlson and his entourage were not detained, delayed, or interrogated.”

“Mr. Carlson and his party were politely asked a few routine questions, in accordance with standard procedures applied to many travelers,” added the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

A man was arrested and charged for mowing down a family with his car and fatally shooting a couple’s 3-year-old girl.

21-year-old Alexander Lamar Banks Jr. ran down 3 adults and a child as they were walking on a sidewalk last Friday and then got out of his car and began shooting at them.

Banks fatally shot the couple’s 3-year-old girl, Harlow.

A Good Samaritan who tried to intervene was also seriously injured.

“Paige and Cameron are a loving family who recently experienced a devastating attack. Both parents were injured, and tragically, their young daughter lost her life,” the family’s GoFundMe said.

“Paige was our daughter’s nanny, and her little one became our girl’s very first friend. She quickly became a cherished part of our lives, caring for our daughter with warmth, love, and dedication,” they said.

“As friends and members of the community, we want to rally around Paige and Cameron to help ease their financial burden. All funds raised will go directly toward medical expenses, funeral costs for Harlow, and helping cover everyday living expenses, as they will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. This will allow them to focus on healing and remembering their beloved daughter,” the fundraiser said.

“As many of you know, our dear friend Barb was the victim of a horrific assault that occurred outside her house in Delta Township on Friday, 2/13, around 5:30pm. A tragic scene was unfolding across the street, and she ran directly into the danger and saved two lives by distracting the gunman and taking his attention away from the family he was shooting at,” the GoFundMe page said.

“She endured severe trauma to her head and face, including bleeding in her brain. Emergency brain surgery was life-saving, but she lost consciousness on the scene and has not yet regained consciousness. We are waiting and praying so hard for her to wake up. She remains in critical condition,: the fundraiser said.

Authorities charged Banks with 10 counts, including first-degree murder and attempted murder.

A 21-year-old Delta Township, Michigan, man is accused of killing a child and injuring three adults after he hit a family with his vehicle who was out for a walk and then fired a weapon, authorities said.

On Tuesday, Alexander Lamar Banks Jr. was charged with homicide, four counts of felony firearm, three counts of assault with intent to murder, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent and possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Eaton County deputies say that a family was out for a walk around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 near Green Meadows and Farmstead Lane in Delta Township when a vehicle struck the family. The driver then got out of his vehicle and fired numerous shots toward them, according to authorities. A bystander who tried to help was also attacked and seriously injured, deputies said.

A suspect was located by deputies and taken into custody with the help of the Michigan State Police.

A 3-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
