Republican members of Congress introduced legislation at the end of last month meant to target colleagues suspected of using campaign funds for personal and familial benefit.

The bill is known as the Oversight for Members And Relatives Act — also known as the OMAR Act — and was filed by Reps. Tom Tiffany and Tony Wied, both Republicans from Wisconsin.

The OMAR Act would prevent campaign funds from benefiting spouses of lawmakers and require that candidates disclose any payments made to immediate family.

Blaze Media, which broke the news of the bill, noted that Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, reportedly shelled out $2.8 million to a political consulting firm owned by her husband during the 2019-2020 campaign season.

That payment was almost 70 percent of her disbursement for the quarter.

“Public office should never be used to pad a family’s bank account,” Tiffany told Blaze Media.

“For years, members of both parties have blurred ethical lines by paying their spouses with campaign funds and labeling it ‘campaign work.’”

The OMAR Act would meanwhile end the practice and return “integrity to a system that’s been abused for far too long.”

Wied added to Blaze Media that “members of Congress are sent to Washington to represent the interests of their constituents — not to line their spouses’ pockets with campaign funds.”

“We’ve seen far too many egregious examples of politicians exploiting loopholes for personal gain, and the American people are sick of it,” he continued.

“I’m proud to stand with Rep. Tiffany to introduce the OMAR Act and put a stop to these shady practices once and for all.”

Omar has provoked controversy for her net worth surging while in office — a development related to her husband’s private-sector work, according to a report from Fox News.

eStCru LLC, a winery in California, surged from between $15,000 and $50,000 in 2023 to between $1 million and $5 million in 2024.

Rose Lake Capital, a venture firm based in Washington, D.C., meanwhile rose from between $1 and $1,000 in 2023 to an asset range of $5 million to $25 million the next year.

Omar also has outstanding student debt, credit card balances, and auto payments.

Minnesota Fraud Whistleblower Claims She Was Subjected to ‘Smear Campaign’ After Reporting Concerns to State

Minnesota Fraud Whistleblower Claims She Was Subjected to ‘Smear Campaign’ After Reporting Concerns to State

The fallout continues in Minnesota over the explosive allegations of fraud from last month.

One whistleblower is now going on record, saying that she was subjected to a smear campaign after reporting her concerns to the state, saying she was even accused of being a racist.

The most troubling part of these reports for leaders in Minnesota is that they support the idea that they knew this fraud was happening and did nothing to stop it. People need to be prosecuted for this.

FOX News reports:

Minnesota DHS whistleblower details ‘smear campaign’ after reporting fraud concerns to state

A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) whistleblower said she has been raising red flags about fraud in the state since 2019, but has faced only unyielding retaliation in response, calling Gov. Tim Walz’s assertion that he was unaware of the problem “absolutely false.”

Faye Bernstein, who has worked for Minnesota’s DHS for two decades in contract management and compliance, said she was subjected to a “smear campaign” for trying to make leadership aware of illegal contracting practices. She said she was called “racist” and that her work responsibilities were diminished.

“There is just a continuous effort to stifle you, to shut you up. And it is impossible to overcome,” Bernstein said on “Saturday in America.”

Federal prosecutors estimate that up to $9 billion was stolen through a network of fraudulent fronts posing as daycare centers, food programs and health clinics. The majority of those charged, so far, in the ongoing investigation are part of Minnesota’s Somali population.

Rather than receiving thanks for speaking out about irregularities within the contracting process, Bernstein wrote in a letter obtained exclusively by “Saturday in America” that the “nearly unbearable retaliation” she faced also included being “trespassed from all DHS-owned or leased property” and investigated “at a great cost to the state.”

To make matters worse, the fraud allegations just keep coming.

A lot of people have a lot of explaining to do and at the end of the day, some people need to go to jail. The public was defrauded of billions upon billions of dollars. There is no excuse for any of it.

Daughter of Republican Minnesota Gubernatorial Candidate Jeff Johnson Found Stabbed to Death in Her Home

Daughter of Republican Minnesota Gubernatorial Candidate Jeff Johnson Found Stabbed to Death in Her Home
February 9, 2026

Hallie Marie Tobler, the 22-year-old daughter of Republican Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson, was found stabbed to death in her St. Cloud apartment on Saturday evening.

Law enforcement believes her death was a botched murder-suicide, carried out by her husband, Dylan Michael Tobler, 23.

St. Cloud Police Department officers responded to a medical emergency call around 8:20 p.m. at the couple’s locked apartment.

When they arrived, officers discovered Hallie Tobler dead from multiple stab wounds.

Dylan Tobler was also found inside with life-threatening stab wounds, which investigators determined were self-inflicted. He was transported to St. Cloud Hospital, where he remains in stable condition and in police custody.

Once released, Dylan is expected to be booked into Stearns County Jail to face homicide charges.

Johnson, a former St. Cloud City Council member running for governor, has suspended his 2026 campaign in the wake of the devastating loss.

The Republican Party of Minnesota released an official statement about the tragedy on Monday.

The statement read in full:

The Minnesota Republican Party is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Dr. Jeff Johnson’s daughter, who was killed in a violent crime Saturday night in St. Cloud.

There are no words that can adequately express the sorrow we feel for Jeff and his family. The loss of a child is unimaginable, and our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve this devastating tragedy.

Out of respect for his family and the enormity of this loss, Jeff has suspended his campaign for Governor of Minnesota. We ask all Minnesotans to join us in lifting up the Johnson family during this incredibly painful time.

We also extend our gratitude to the first responders and law enforcement officers involved and ask for patience and compassion as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information about the murder is urged to contact the St. Cloud Police Department or Tri-County Crime Stoppers.

THE WARMTH OF COLLECTIVISM: New York City Homeless Death Toll Jumps to 18 Amid Freezing Temps

THE WARMTH OF COLLECTIVISM: New York City Homeless Death Toll Jumps to 18 Amid Freezing Temps

Screencap of YouTube video.

Zohran Mamdani has been Mayor of New York City for a little over a month and during that time, 18 homeless people in the city have died from exposure.

Mamdani policy forbids NYC police from dismantling homeless encampments and forcing homeless people indoors. That policy may sound good to leftists on paper but it is killing people.

This is the same reason that Mamdani has failed the tests of snow removal and trash pick-up. He does not want to do the ‘work’ parts of being mayor. He is too busy making videos about taxing the rich. That’s the fun part for him about being mayor, and what he thinks his real job is.

The New York Post reports:

NYC outdoor death toll climbs to 18 — as shelter worker recalls finding latest deep-freeze fatality: ‘I couldn’t help him’

The death toll from the city’s brutal cold spell climbed to 18 over the weekend — with a shell-shocked shelter worker stumbling upon the latest fatality of the historic freeze, he told The Post.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed the 18th outdoor death Monday morning, during an unrelated press conference celebrating the opening of the Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center in Brooklyn.

“Each loss of life is a tragedy. We will continue to hold their families in our thoughts,” he said.

The latest person to die was an 86-year-old homeless man, later identified as Charles Williams, according to sources and City Hall officials. His body was found just after 9 a.m. Saturday on the street at East Gun Hill Road and Seymour Avenue in The Bronx.

Adam Faad, 26, said he felt helpless after finding the unresponsive man on the sidewalk.

Faad, a security worker at a homeless shelter who was volunteering at one of the city’s “warming centers” on Saturday, said he spotted the man, who looked asleep, on the street while on his way to his mosque.

Is this what Mamdani meant by the warmth of collectivism?

It’s absolutely shameful. All of these deaths were avoidable.
