This week, Instagram and Twitter are all abuzz with the frightening story of how ICE allegedly abused the rights of British citizens Bill and Karen Newton, who, despite being British and Caucasian, were taken into custody for no reason at all. The posts claim that Karen’s visa was valid and that she was arrested simply because ICE is a group of “Gestapo fascists.” Other claims say that Bill had a pending green card application. The consensus among commenters is that ICE should be abolished and President Trump should be impeached.

Now that I have investigated about two hundred of these cases, I have learned to read between the lines. When the posts say Karen’s visa was valid, I have to assume Bill’s was not. Any time a post claims that someone is in the process of applying for a green card, it must be remembered that applying for a green card is not, in and of itself, a residency permit. It is simply an admission that he has no green card.

Here are the facts. ICE did nothing wrong.

The story the couple told the press is that when Bill decided to retire, they planned to drive to Canada for a holiday before returning to the UK. On September 26, 2025, they attempted to cross from Montana into Canada. Canadian border officials turned them back, reportedly because they did not have the correct paperwork to bring their car into Canada.

When they were forced to return to the U.S., they were met by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Agents discovered that Bill’s U.S. visa had already expired.

Karen Newton had a valid B2 tourist visa. However, ICE agents detained her as well, telling her she was “guilty by association.” They argued that by helping her husband pack and driving him to the border, she had assisted an illegal alien, which violated the terms of her own visa.

The fact is that Bill Newton’s work visa had been expired for nearly 20 years. It is unlikely that he did not know that before attempting to drive to Canada. Furthermore, although Karen’s visa was current, DHS alleged that she had a history of overstaying a previous visa waiver by four years.

Karen’s valid visa was cancelled on the spot under a standard provision of U.S. immigration law covering “Alien Smuggling.” While most people think of “smuggling” as bringing people across a border in the dark, the legal definition in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) is much broader.

The specific clause, INA § 212(a)(6)(E), states that any person who “knowingly has encouraged, induced, assisted, abetted, or aided” another person to enter or try to enter the United States in violation of the law is inadmissible. In Karen Newton’s case, this clause was applied because she drove her husband, who had no legal status, to the border and helped him attempt to exit and potentially re-enter.

Under the “Project Homecoming” enforcement standards of 2025–2026, the government took the position that a spouse living with someone for 20 years knowingly understands that person’s lack of legal status. They eventually accepted “self-removal,” a form of voluntary deportation, and were flown back to the UK in late 2025 or early 2026.

The other case everyone is talking about and citing as evidence of President Trump’s lawlessness and disregard for court orders involves Farah, a 21-year-old gay woman from Morocco who sought asylum in the United States in early 2025 after fleeing family violence related to her sexuality.

Although her asylum claim was denied, which liberals blame on homophobia, a U.S. immigration judge issued a protection order, known as withholding of removal, in August 2025. This order legally barred the U.S. government from sending her back to Morocco, as the judge ruled that her life would be in danger there.

Angry posts on Instagram, including some from U.S. lawmakers, claim that President Trump deported her despite the judge’s protection order and that she is now in Morocco “living in fear of her life.”

Here are the facts. The exact reason why asylum was not granted has not been made public. However, if the threat comes from a victim’s family rather than from a government or organized crime, that is usually not strong enough grounds for asylum.

The judge’s order prevented deportation to Morocco. Therefore, the Trump administration deported her to a third country willing to accept her, which was Cameroon.

After arriving in Cameroon, the Trump administration was no longer involved and had no control over her movements. She apparently later self-deported to Morocco.

There are congressmen and women retweeting these stories and claiming that ICE is arresting people arbitrarily, that the agency is out of control, and that it must be stopped. Some are calling for the impeachment of Kristi Noem and President Trump, and even RFK Jr., who has nothing to do with immigration.

Meanwhile, both cases are straightforward and legally grounded. The hatred toward ICE and the anti-ICE riots are fueled by this type of half-truth and irresponsible framing, not only by elected officials but also by mainstream media.

Former Vice President Mike Pence has doubled down on his support for the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on President Trump’s tariffs.

The former Vice President, during a sit-down lecture at Susquehanna University on Monday night, praised the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision to overturn the Trump administration’s global tariffs.

Pence stated, “I strongly and heartedly welcome the decision by the Supreme Court of the United States to uphold the separation of powers and turn back President Trump’s liberation day regime of tariffs.”

“I think it’s a relief for American businesses, American workers,’ added Pence.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, shortly after the Supreme Court issued its decision, Pence took to X to laud the court’s ruling.

Pence wrote:

Following the Supreme Court’s decision, President Trump announced he would immediately be “raising the 10% Worldwide Tariff … to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level.”

“From the delicious food to the cultural richness, Mexico has its own unique perks that make it one of the world’s greatest places,” began an article on BuzzFeed.

A YouTube video titled “Why Mexico Is Finally Becoming a Rich Country” argued that economic growth in Mexico is outpacing the U.S. A travel blog making the case that life in Mexico is better than the U.S. said, “Mexico has something for everyone, and it’s one of the most varied countries I’ve ever been to.”

If one of the things you want is narco-cartels running the government and open warfare in the streets, Mexico has that for you, while the U.S. does not. And you only have President Trump to blame.

Mexican cartel violence has sparked growing concern about tourism in Jalisco state ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The unrest followed a military operation in which Mexican forces killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

More than 70 people died during the operation and its aftermath, and clashes between the cartel and security forces spread across several states. The U.S. government provided intelligence support, and officials viewed the killing as a major blow to fentanyl trafficking networks.

In tourist towns such as Tapalpa and the resort city of Puerto Vallarta, residents and visitors expressed fear that violence and cartel reprisals could damage the local economy. Business owners who depend on tourism worry that international attention to the bloodshed will discourage visitors. Some tourists reported seeing explosions and smoke, and had flights delayed or canceled.

While Mexico’s government hopes the cartel leader’s death will ease pressure from President Trump to crack down on criminal groups, many residents remain uncertain whether the violence will subside or escalate further.

Parts of Mexico have issued shelter-in-place orders as rival gangs build flaming barricades, blockade streets, and drive around in armored cars wearing military uniforms and killing people, the way liberals falsely claim ICE is doing in the U.S. They should probably watch some of these videos and see if they can spot ten differences between ICE and a gang of armed thugs.

American liberals on vacation in Mexico are posting on social media, demanding that President Trump rescue them from cartel violence. Ironically, these are the same liberals who protest against the border wall and ICE deportations of cartel and gang members.

This is right up there with Mexicans waving Mexican flags at anti-ICE protests, saying how much better Mexico is than the U.S., although they are willing to break the law and fight tooth and nail rather than be sent back there.

An Instagram video by a conservative asks where the “Free Mexico” protests are. The American-hating liberal Mexicans and their liberal supporters in the U.S. say, “It’s always stand with the raza, stand with la gente. You better be on the way to Mexico right now or at least starting up some kind of campaign here.”

They were all about “Free Palestine,” but have done nothing for Mexico.

Yes, Mexico is better than the U.S. If you had any doubts, read the article, which cites fourteen reasons, including surreal beaches, adventure activities, a beautiful Spanish language, rich cultural heritage…classic artwork and iconic artists. It is a bit telling that earning a living and personal security did not make the list.

The liberals stuck in Mexico and the ones protesting not to be sent there are almost as funny as a post by a liberal who self-exiled to Canada with her “partner” and their dog. She posted on Instagram about how much worse life is in Canada, saying the housing crisis is more severe than in the U.S. and that rent is higher than what she paid in Los Angeles.

She is there on a visitor visa, which does not allow her to work, so they are living on savings while facing a higher cost of living. They also discovered they cannot access hospitals because the national health care system primarily covers citizens. To make matters worse, their visitor visa will expire in six months.

When she was in America, she likely believed that overstaying a visa or entering a country illegally was acceptable. Somehow, in Canada, she is obeying the law. In liberal logic, does that make her an ICE-supporting fascist?

Canada, the country that claims to be freer than the U.S., arrested people for violating COVID restrictions and did not allow citizens to return home from abroad. It is a country where you can be arrested for speech, a country that opposes the U.S. enforcing immigration laws while enforcing its own immigration laws. It is also the country that just lost to the U.S. men’s hockey team in the Olympics.

But we will leave the People’s Republic of Canada for a future article. Those jokes write themselves.
