Another day, another far-left activist judge.

US District Judge Susan Nelson, an Obama appointee, ordered the release of a four-time deported MS-13 gang member from El Salvador with a history of rape.

In January, ICE arrested Carlos Antonio Flores-Miguel during a raid in Minnesota.

“Today in Minnesota, ICE arrested Carlos Flores Miguel — a four-time-deported criminal, illegal alien, convicted sex offender, and assailant of federal law enforcement,” ICE said in January.

Judge Nelson ordered ICE to release Carlos Flores-Miguel, according to Fox News.

Fox News reported:

A federal judge has ordered federal immigration authorities to release an illegal immigrant gang member with multiple unlawful entries into the United States and whose criminal history includes rape and robbery, Fox News Digital has learned.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson, an Obama appointee, ordered the release of Carlos Antonio Flores-Miguel, an MS-13 gang member from El Salvador, from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

“This activist, Obama-appointed judge RELEASED Carlos Antonio Flores-Miguel, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador and MS-13 gang member, from ICE Custody,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “Releasing violent criminals is inexcusably reckless and now this criminal will be able to perpetrate more crimes against innocent Americans.”

Flores-Miguel was released into the United States under the Biden administration in 2022, DHS said.

On Jan. 20, he was arrested by ICE in Minneapolis, when he violently resisted by punching and kicking ICE law enforcement officers, authorities said. In addition, he allegedly grabbed an ICE officer’s gun holster.

A separate Obama-appointed judge ordered the release of MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

Judge Paula Xinis recently ordered ICE to release Abrego Garcia from custody.

Report: Hakeem Jeffries Is Facing a ‘Rebellion’ from His Own Democratic Caucus

Report: Hakeem Jeffries Is Facing a ‘Rebellion’ from His Own Democratic Caucus
March 17, 2026

U.S. Congressman delivering a speech in front of American flags and congressional seals, emphasizing his political agenda and initiatives.

If the Democrats take back the House of Representatives in November, one of the first casualties might be Hakeem Jeffries’ role as leader.

Axios reported that more than 80 Democratic House candidates for 2026 are either noncommittal or outright opposed to Jeffries becoming the next speaker of the House, characterizing the development as a “rebellion.”

Mai Vang, the leading progressive primary challenger to Rep. Doris Matsui of California, told Axios last week, “The Democratic Party and its leadership — Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries — have failed to mobilize meaningful opposition to [President Donald] Trump’s illegal war and their silence as AIPAC and corporations flood Congressional primaries with millions of dollars is deafening.”

“I cannot support this kind of leadership,” Vang added. “If we want to defeat Trump and rebuild trust with working Americans, we need new leadership and a new direction.”

AIPAC stands for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has made similar claims as Vang about Jewish money influencing U.S. elections, prompting a censure motion.

Adam Hamawy, a Democratic candidate in New Jersey’s 12th district, told Axios regarding Jeffries, “Most Democrats are agreed that he’s been failing to meet the moment.”

The candidate explained that he’s “looking for someone that’s gonna stand up to the administration.”

Meanwhile, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani-backed congressional candidate Claire Valdez, a current New York State Assembly member, told Axios that “there would need to be some conversations” when asked if she would support Jeffries’ leadership.

Jeffries spokesperson Justin Chermol said in a statement, “Leader Jeffries is focused on addressing the affordability crisis, stopping the bombing in the Middle East, reining in ICE and taking back the House to stop Republican extremists from destroying America.”

Axios concluded, “Whether Jeffries waltzes to the speakership or faces a repeat of Kevin McCarthy’s 15-ballot slog in 2023 would depend on how these progressives fare in their primaries and, of course, whether he wins the House and by how many seats.”

Jeffries has come out firmly in opposition to Operation Eric Fury directed against Iran. He posted Monday on social media, “Billions to drop bombs overseas. Not a dime to lower costs for the American people. It’s time to end this reckless war of choice.”

Republicans would likely point to the “Big Beautiful Bill” with its provision for no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security as steps the administration and the Republicans have taken to address affordability.

Regarding the issue of immigration enforcement, which Democrats say is their reason for refusing to fund the Department of Homeland Security, Fox News congressional correspondent Bill Melugin pointed out, “One could argue Democrats have already secured a handful of wins for their base on DHS. Kristi Noem is out. [Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Gregory] Bovino has been reassigned & will reportedly retire.”

He added, “Roving patrols are over. Minnesota operation is over. Things have calmed down since Homan took the reins and enforcement has largely moved back to targeted operations. Republicans are highly unlikely to budge on Dem demands of judicial warrants and unmasking of agents. *Especially* judicial warrants.”

Late Pope Francis rebuked by appeals tribunal.

The Vatican, center for the Catholic Church, has been rocked today by a judicial decision.

The Vatican appeals tribunal declared a mistrial in what was called the ‘trial of the century’ over alleged financial crimes, in a blow to Pope Francis’ legacy and to Vatican prosecutors.

Associated Press reported:

“In a 16-page ruling, the appeals court ruled that Francis and Vatican prosecutors both made procedural errors that nullified the original indictment against Cardinal Angelo Becciu and the others and required a new trial. The court set a June 22 as the date for the new trial to begin.

Defense lawyers said such a ruling was significant if not historic, since it amounted to a Vatican court declaring that an act of the pope had no effect.

The ruling was a win for the defense and a huge setback to Vatican prosecutors, who have been scrambling to salvage their case. The prosecution and 2023 convictions against Becciu and others had been held up by the Vatican and late pope as evidence of his willingness to crack down on financial misconduct in the Holy See.”

The tribunal decision is considered a blow to late Pope Francis legacy.

The tribunal ruled that prosecutors deprived the defense of due process by withholding discovery and improperly redacting items.

Deutsche Welle reported:

“’It shows that from the first moment, we were right to raise the violation of the right to defense and to request that the law be respected to have a fair trial’, Becciu’s lawyers Fabio Viglione and Maria Concetta Marzo said in a statement.

The court also ruled that one of then-Pope Francis’ decrees, which allowed prosecutors to proceed without a preliminary judge overseeing their work, ultimately amounted to a new law. However, it said that Francis’ failure to publish the decree meant that it was void and not in legal effect when implemented. This ruling could throw other rulings that used the same decree as a basis for the case into question.

‘The historic decision by the Court of Appeals — which, for the first time in Vatican history, ruled that a papal rescript was invalid and void due to failure to publish it — in our view results in the complete nullity of the entire investigation and trial’, attorneys Massimo Bassi and Cataldo Intrieri, who represent former Vatican official Fabrizio Tirabassi, said in a statement. They added that they anticipated a swift acquittal at retrial.”

On late Tuesday afternoon, a gunman opened fire at a VA Clinic in Jasper, Georgia, resulting in one employee being critically injured.

According to the Jasper Police Chief Matt Dawkins, a gunman opened fire at the clinic and shot a Veterans Affairs employee.

Jasper police quickly responded to the scene and fatally shot the gunman outside the clinic.

The employee was immediately airlifted to a local hospital, where their condition is unknown.

Currently, authorities have yet to release the identity of the suspect or whether the gunman had a military background.

Per AP:

There was a shooting Tuesday at a Department of Veterans Affairs clinic in a small town at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains in Georgia, and the gunman was shot and killed, police said.

A Veterans Affairs employee was taken by helicopter to a hospital after the gunfire Tuesday afternoon, VA spokesman Peter Kasperowicz said.

Jasper police responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the city said in a statement. Outside the VA clinic, the officers confronted the gunman, who was shot and killed, authorities said.

The gunman who was killed is from the Jasper area, Jasper Police Chief Matt Dawkins told reporters at the scene. But details about him were not immediately released.

“We don’t know what led up to it,” Dawkins said.

In response to the shooting, VA Secretary Doug Collins took to X and wrote, “Praying for the victim as well as all Pickens County Department of Veteran Affairs Clinic Veterans and employees.”

He added, “We are sending a team from VA HQ to Georgia tomorrow to ensure clinic employees get the support they need.”

Chief Justice Roberts Takes Veiled Shot at President Trump

Chief Justice Roberts Takes Veiled Shot at President Trump
March 17, 2026

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts took a veiled shot at President Trump on Tuesday during an event at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy in Houston, Texas.

Without mentioning Trump by name, Roberts said that personal attacks on judges are “dangerous” and must stop.

“Judges around the country work very hard to get it right and if they don’t, their opinions are subject to criticism,” Roberts said, according to CBS News.

“But personally directed hostility is dangerous and it’s got to stop.”

CBS News reported:

Chief Justice John Roberts warned Tuesday that personal attacks on Supreme Court justices and lower court judges are “dangerous” and said hostility directed toward specific jurists has “got to stop.”

The chief justice was responding to a question from U.S. District Judge Lee Rosenthal about criticisms of the Supreme Court and its rulings. Rosenthal, who was appointed to the federal trial court in Texas by former President George H.W. Bush, thanked Roberts for his defense of lower court judges, saying judges know “you have our backs.”

Roberts acknowledged that criticisms of the Supreme Court’s decisions “come with the territory,” and sometimes come from fellow justices in the form of dissents.

“We don’t believe we’re flawless in any way and it’s important that our decisions are subjected to scrutiny, and they are,” he said.

But, Roberts continued, “the problem sometimes is that the criticism can move from a focus on legal analysis to personalities. And you see — from all over, not just any one political perspective on it — that it’s more directed in a personal way and that frankly can be actually quite dangerous.”

This week, President Trump slammed “nasty” and “crooked” Judge Boasberg, an Obama appointee, for quashing subpoenas in the DOJ’s criminal investigation into Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

Last month President Trump scorched Supreme Court justices after the high court ruled 6-3 to strike down his tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

Chief Justices Roberts, Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch sided with the three liberal justices.

Trump slammed the liberal justices and others who sided against his tariffs.

Later during his remarks, President Trump accused the justices of “being swayed by foreign interests.”

He also slammed the conservative justices who sided with the liberals and called them an “embarrassment to their families.”
