Senate Democrats on Thursday blocked a common-sense amendment that would have required voters to show a simple photo ID to cast a ballot.

Despite Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s recent “pinky-promise” that Democrats aren’t actually opposed to ID requirements, his party voted in lockstep to kill the measure, according to CBS News.

About a dozen Senate Democrats have insisted that they support voter ID.

Naturally, this afternoon every single one of them voted against voter ID.

The amendment failed to reach the 60-vote threshold, dying in a 53 to 47 vote. The radical Left once again chose to keep the door wide open for potential fraud.

The amendment, introduced by Jon Husted, would have required voters to present a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, military ID, or tribal ID, when casting a ballot.

These are the same forms of identification Americans routinely use in everyday life.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune underscored the simplicity of the requirement:

“The types of IDs that are sitting in wallets right now, that the American people use on a regular basis.”

But Democrats, led by Schumer, slammed the proposal as extreme, claiming it would impose the “strictest voter ID law in America.”

Senator Mike Lee didn’t hold back, blasting Democrats for rejecting even a scaled-down version of election security reforms.

In a statement following the vote, Lee wrote:

“Every Senate Democrat just voted against a simple Voter ID requirement—a scaled-down version of SAVE America without the citizenship-verification measures

Why?

What do they have against requiring voters to prove who they are with a government-issued, photo ID on Election Day?”

In a video posted following the defeat, Lee reminded Americans that only two years ago, every Senate Democrat supported a bill that contained a voter ID requirement. What changed?

“In the Senate, we just voted on a simple voter ID measure. This was a scaled-down version of the SAVE America Act—one that requires only a photo ID at the time and place of voting and omits the proof-of-citizenship requirements. Even that was something that every single Democrat in the Senate voted against.

Now, think about it this way: two years ago, every Senate Democrat supported a bill that contained a voter ID requirement. What changed? Why are they doing this?”

President Trump on Thursday announced he is pausing strikes on Iran’s energy plants by 10 days.

On Saturday evening Trump threatened to obliterate Iran’s power plants if they don’t fully open the Strait of Hormuz.

“If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump said on Saturday evening.

President Trump extended the deadline earlier this week to Friday, citing ongoing negotiations with Iran.

Earlier Thursday, a reporter asked President Trump about Friday’s deadline.

“Mr. President, Is the Friday deadline for Iran is that pushed back now?” a reporter asked President Trump during a Cabinet meeting.

“I don’t know yet… we have a lot of time. You know what? It’s a day. In Trump time, a day, you know what it is? That’s an eternity,” Trump said.

Later Thursday, President Trump announced he is extending the deadline by 10 days.

“As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time,” Trump said.

“Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said on Thursday.

President Trump’s warning comes as Iran is only allowing certain ships, including oil tankers, to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz to all oil tankers and vessels except for a few approved ships.

Oil spiked to $112 per barrel last week amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian attacks on Qatar’s oil facility.

20% of the world’s oil supply goes through the Straight of Hormuz.

As he often does, President Donald Trump fired a salvo Thursday morning on his social media platform Truth Social.

In hopes of reaching a speedy resolution to the ongoing partial government shutdown, in which Democrats have refused to fund the Department of Homeland Security and through it, the Transportation Security Administration, Trump directed his rhetorical attack toward a familiar target: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Trump posted those comments shortly after another post directed toward Senate Republicans.

“When is ‘enough, enough’ for our Republican Senators,” the president wrote early Thursday morning. “There comes a time when you must do what should have been done a long time ago, and something which the Lunatic Democrats will do on day one, if they ever get the chance. TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, and get our airports, and everything else, moving again. Also, add the complete, all five items, SAVE AMERICA ACT items. Go for the Gold!!! President DJT.”

In other words, Trump’s second post — the one attacking Schumer — appeared to refer to the president’s first post.

Trump, therefore, evidently believes he has backed Schumer into a corner by publicly calling on Senate Republicans to terminate the filibuster to resolve the standoff over DHS funding. Time will tell whether the president has the veteran Democrat leader right where he wants him.

More broadly, of course, Democrats have gone to the mat and then some to protect illegal immigrants.

In the current funding dispute, for instance, Democrats want to rein in Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

As Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has acknowledged, however, Democrats have no leverage when it comes to ICE in particular. After all, last summer’s “Big Beautiful Bill” provided ICE with plenty of funding.

The Democrats’ strategy, therefore, has involved crippling DHS and thereby creating chaos.

America’s airports, for instance, have suffered massive staffing shortages due to the lack of funding for TSA. On Monday, Trump sent ICE agents to more than a dozen airports where TSA screeners desperately needed assistance.

Meanwhile, Schumer responded by once again demonizing ICE.

During Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration in Minnesota earlier this year, anti-ICE agitators created their own kind of chaos. In that particular clash, the president is widely perceived as having backed down from a larger fight.

But Trump has also seen Schumer cave in the past. Now, in a pair of social media posts clearly meant for Senate Republicans, the president appears to have suggested that the Senate minority leader has no choice but to do so once more.

A shocking spring break stunt that went viral for all the wrong reasons has now ended in tragedy.

A 22-year-old spring breaker, identified as Michael Brown, has died after being flung from the roof of a speeding Jeep while allegedly twerking during a drunken joyride in Port Aransas, Texas, the New York Post reported.

The disturbing incident, which was caught on video and spread rapidly across social media, showed the young man dancing half-naked on top of the moving vehicle as it sped down a highway.

Moments later, that so-called “fun” turned into a nightmare.

According to reports, 24-year-old driver Riley Rhoades was later arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) and crashed into another vehicle, sending the 22-year-old flying off the Jeep and onto the pavement, where he suffered catastrophic head injuries.

He was later pronounced dead after several days in critical condition.

Daily Mail reported:

Video shared on social media showed a shirtless man climbing out of the Jeep’s roof and twerking as it drove down the highway just moments before impact.

The Jeep driver, Riley Rhoades, 24, was arrested after blowing .14 and .12 blood alcohol content (BAC) during breath tests, according to court documents obtained by KIII 3 News.

In Texas, the legal BAC limit is .08, and Rhoades has been charged with one count of intoxication assault and is being held in the Nueces County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Footage from the scene of the crash showed three swimsuit-clad young people next to the shattered Jeep while EMS assisted an injured person on the road.

Another person involved in the crash was reportedly hospitalized with a serious head injury.
