The annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner was thrown into chaos this weekend after a gunman reportedly opened fire near the event venue, sending guests scrambling for cover and triggering a massive security response.

But while law enforcement rushed to neutralize the threat and protect attendees, one viral moment was captured on camera.

Viral video footage, now exploding across X and conservative media, shows a woman in formal attire casually snatching multiple wine bottles from tables.

Other people were also seen taking selfies while holding bottles of wine in their hands.

New York Post reported:

Because the shooting took place early, during the salad portion of the marquee dinner, there was an abundance of wine left abandoned at tables across the ballroom.

The woman’s identity is not immediately clear, and it’s not apparent whether she was a journalist or some other guest.

Footage of the wine grab quickly went viral. But netizens were torn over whether snatching the wine was in poor taste given what could’ve been a tragic evening if the shooter wasn’t stopped, or a fiscally prudent move given the high price tag of the swanky dinner.

“So, there you have press members STEALING wine bottles: this is who the press is! Repugnant!” one user wrote, showing a video of the wine-loving attendee.

[…]

Other attendees were similarly caught exiting the ballroom with bottles of wine after chaos engulfed the marquee DC dinner.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the suspect, 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, charged a security checkpoint armed with a shotgun, handgun, and knives.

He exchanged gunfire with law enforcement, striking a Secret Service agent who was saved only by his bulletproof vest.

Allen left behind a manifesto targeting Trump administration officials and mocked Secret Service “incompetence.” President Trump himself confirmed the agent was hit but is expected to recover.

Piracy is again a ‘substantial’ threat to commercial shipping.

There are dangers in many sea passages and conflict hot-spots, such as the Black Sea – because of the Russia-Ukraine War – or in the Strait of Hormuz – because of the US-Israel-Iran war.

But now, the region of the ‘Horn of Africa’ is back in the news, as the old scourge of the Somali pirates are back in action, having hijacked two cargo ships in a week.

Reuters reported:

“Suspected pirates have boarded a St. Kitts and Nevis-flagged general cargo vessel off Somalia’s waters and were sailing it towards ‌the Somali coastline, British maritime security groups Vanguard and Ambrey said.”

“Somali pirates caused havoc in the waters off the Horn of Africa nation’s long coastline between 2008 and 2018. After a lull, pirate activity started to pick up again in late 2023.

Vanguard said in a note late on Sunday it was aware of reports that armed pirates had hijacked the vessel, Sward, in the vicinity of Godobjiran, Somalia. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the incident occurred 6 nautical miles north-east of Garacad, describing it as a hijack.”

“The vessel is currently assessed to be under ‌pirate control and proceeding toward the Somali coastline. The Puntland Maritime Police Force has been notified,” it said.

Ambrey said in a separate statement the vessel had been sailing to Mombasa, Kenya from Suez, Egypt at the time it was boarded. All the crew were on the bridge except two mechanics, Ambrey said.”

Bruce Springsteen Condemns Political Violence, Opens Concert With “Prayer of Thanks” That President Trump Was Not Injured in the WHCD Assassination Attempt

Bruce Springsteen opened the latest show on his virulently anti-Trump “No Kings” tour in Austin, Texas Sunday night by condemning political violence and offering a “prayer of thanks” that President Donald Trump was not injured in the latest assassination attempt on him that took place Saturday night at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C.

Springsteen, who has campaigned for every Democrat presidential nominee since 2004 and is close friends with former President Barack Obama, embarked on the highly political “No Kings” tour in March in Minneapolis and is scheduled to play his last show of the tour in the nation’s capital at the end of May.

Springsteen has alienated many fans in recent years by charging ‘king’s ransom’ sky-high prices for concert tickets and by turning his concerts into prolonged anti-Trump rallies.

Springsteen has started shows on the current tour with an anti-Trump speech he reads from a teleprompter. Other anti-Trump remarks and songs are played throughout the nearly three-hour shows. Springsteen also chose to have millionaire communist Rage Against the Machine member Tom Morello play with Springsteen and his E Street Band on this tour.

Springsteen’s show opening comments at the Moody Center concert in Austin:

We begin tonight with a prayer for our men and women overseas, we pray for their safe return.

‘We also send out a prayer of thanks that our President, nor anyone in the administration, nor anyone attending was injured in last night’s incident at the press Correspondents’ Dinner.

We can disagree. We can be critical of those in power, and we can peacefully fight for our beliefs, but there is no place in any way, shape, or form for political violence of any kind in our beloved United States.”

Statement from the White House:

President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will welcome His Majesty King Charles the III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Her Majesty Queen Camilla to Washington, DC for a State Visit on Monday, April 27, through Thursday, April 30, 2026. This occasion marks the first official State Visit of the second term of the Trump Administration.

First Lady Melania Trump led the preparations for the State Visit, which will honor the longstanding and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom as the American people mark 250 years of independence.

On the afternoon of Monday, April 27, the President and First Lady will greet Their Majesties when they arrive to the South Portico of the White House. The couples will then head to the State Floor where they will sit for tea in the Green Room.

After tea, Their Majesties will join the President and First Lady for a tour of the newly unveiled and expanded White House Beehive, which is nestled on the South Lawn near the White House Kitchen Garden. Afterward, the couples will bid farewell and depart the White House Grounds.

On the morning of Tuesday, April 28, the President and First Lady will host a State Arrival Ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House. Drawing upon a tradition that dates back to the 18th century, the President and First Lady will proudly mark the official arrival of Their Majesties with a traditional military arrival ceremony with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army Herald Trumpets. National anthems of both countries will be played by “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, with the Presidential Salute Battery rendering a 21-gun cannon salute.

Following an Inspection of the Troops and a Troop in Review, facilitated by the U.S. Army Fife and Drum Corps, the President will deliver remarks from the South Lawn. Afterward, the President, First Lady, and Their Majesties will proceed to the Blue Room Balcony where they will participate in a Pass in Review of 300 United States Service Members with nearly 500 members of the U.S. Armed Forces from all six military branches present at the ceremony—a historic first for State Visits.

In addition to thousands of guests on the South Lawn, notable guests invited to attend the ceremony include Members of the President’s Cabinet, Members of Congress, the official Delegation of the United States of America, the official Delegation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, American military families, and students from the British International School of Washington.

At the conclusion of the arrival ceremony, Their Majesties will sign the White House guest book and participate in an official gift exchange with the President and First Lady in the Blue Room. In the Cross Hall of the State Floor, the couples will then participate in a receiving line with the delegations from both countries.

Following these engagements, the couples will walk to the Oval Office where the President and His Majesty will participate in a bilateral meeting. The First Lady and Her Majesty will assume a separate schedule.

First Lady Melania Trump and Queen Camilla will join American students for a cross-cultural educational event at the White House Tennis Pavilion. Within the spirit of Mrs. Trump’s Fostering the Future Together initiative, the small group, including several state champions from the Presidential AI Challenge, will use virtual reality headsets to learn about the United Kingdom. Participants will also utilize AI-enabled glasses to learn about American history and the Special Relationship by evaluating artifacts from the White House Collection and the National Archives and Records Administration.

On Tuesday evening, the President and First Lady will greet Their Majesties upon their arrival to the South Portico of the White House for a State Dinner in the East Room. The Office of the First Lady will share additional details on the State Dinner prior to the event. On Thursday morning, April 30, the President and First Lady will greet Their Majesties at the South Portico of the White House and say their farewells in the Diplomatic Reception Room.
