The two major ongoing military conflicts, between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, and the Russia–Ukraine war, both involve nuclear-armed powers.

This raises the question of what level of escalation would be required to push the world toward nuclear war.

The nine nuclear-armed states are the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel. Iran is not yet a nuclear-armed state but is widely regarded as a nuclear threshold state, possessing enough enriched uranium for multiple weapons and the delivery systems to deploy them, pending only the weaponization step.

The nine nuclear-armed countries possessed roughly 12,187 warheads as of the beginning of 2026. The overall inventory continues to decline due to U.S. and Russian dismantlement of retired warheads, but the pace of reductions is slowing and is likely to be outpaced by new warhead production in the coming years.

The crucial elements of a nuclear posture review include the number and types of weapons each country possesses and what their nuclear threshold is, meaning, do they have a no-first-use rule and if not what level of provocation would be necessary to trigger a nuclear response.

With the expiration of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) in February 2026, we are now operating in an era of potentially unconstrained nuclear buildup between the two largest nuclear powers, as both the United States and Russia have discussed resuming nuclear testing.

Across the globe, the convergence of multiple modernizing arsenals, the collapse of arms control architecture, and the first-use doctrines across several states represents the most complex nuclear environment since the Cold War.

UNITED STATES – The United States maintains a stockpile of approximately 3,700 warheads and has embarked on an ambitious plan to overhaul its nuclear weapons arsenal and command and control systems.

The fundamental role of U.S. nuclear weapons is to deter nuclear attack on the United States or its allies and partners, with secondary roles including deterring strategic attack, assuring allies, and enabling achievement of national objectives in extreme circumstances if deterrence fails.

The U.S. retains a first-use option: declaratory policy allows for the first use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear threats under “extreme” circumstances, and maintains a launch-under-attack posture.

In October 2025, Trump made statements indicating a desire to resume nuclear testing, followed by affirmation from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

RUSSIA – Combined, the United States and Russia possess approximately 86 percent of the world’s total inventory of nuclear weapons.

A 2025 DIA assessment stated that Russia has a stockpile of about 1,550 deployed strategic warheads, with the majority deployed on ICBMs commanded by a separate military service, the Strategic Rocket Forces. Russia’s doctrine underwent a significant shift in late 2024.

On November 19, 2024, Putin signed a decree updating formal policy on the possible use of nuclear weapons, outlining a wider range of contingencies that might trigger nuclear use and appearing to lower the threshold.

The 2024 document states Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in response to aggression “which creates a critical threat to their sovereignty and/or territorial integrity,” replacing the older condition of “when the very existence of the state is in jeopardy.”

The 2024 doctrine also introduced language allowing nuclear escalation in response to a “massive launch of air and space attack means” crossing Russia’s border, essentially codifying a response to modern conventional warfare.

CHINA – From 2015–2025, China more than doubled its nuclear arsenal from 260 warheads to an estimated 600. The Pentagon projects over 1,000 operational warheads by 2030. China officially maintains a No First Use policy, reaffirmed in its November 2025 Arms Control White Paper.

However, the Pentagon assesses Beijing “probably would consider nuclear first use if a conventional military defeat in Taiwan gravely threatened regime survival.”

China’s September 2025 Victory Day parade marked the first time it publicly displayed all three legs of its nuclear triad together, including the JL-3 SLBM, DF-5C ICBM, and new DF-61 ICBM.

UNITED KINGDOM – The UK maintains deliberate ambiguity on nuclear first use, explicitly reserving the option to use nuclear weapons in response to a conventional attack.

This position was confirmed by the government in the House of Lords in January 2026. Nuclear use is limited to extreme circumstances of self-defense, including the defense of NATO allies.

The UK also states that it will not use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear weapon states that are party to the NPT.

As of January 2022, the UK holds a stockpile of 225 warheads, with an estimated 120 operationally available for deployment.

These are carried on 48 submarine-launched ballistic missiles aboard four Vanguard-class Trident submarines, forming an exclusively sea-based deterrent.

The stockpile ceiling is set to rise to no more than 260 warheads under plans confirmed in the 2023 Integrated Review.

In June 2025, the UK announced it would expand its contribution to NATO’s nuclear deterrence mission by purchasing 12 F-35A dual-capable aircraft.

These aircraft are capable of deploying U.S. nuclear weapons in a crisis. Upgraded U.S. nuclear gravity bombs, confirmed by Washington in early 2025, were also returned to RAF Lakenheath for the first time since 2008.

FRANCE – France retains a first-use policy, never having renounced the option despite maintaining a posture of “strict sufficiency,” keeping its arsenal at the lowest level compatible with the strategic context.

Nuclear use is limited to extreme circumstances where “vital interests” are threatened, a threshold deliberately left vague and defined solely at the discretion of the president, but understood to encompass territorial integrity, population protection, and sovereignty.

French doctrine historically includes a “final warning” concept: a single demonstrative nuclear strike intended to signal resolve and halt conventional aggression before escalating to full strategic exchange, an explicitly first-use construct.

At least one of four nuclear submarines remains on patrol at sea at all times, providing a survivable second-strike capability that does not preclude first use.

As of July 2025, France maintains 290 operational warheads deployable across 98 delivery systems, comprising 48 submarine-launched ballistic missiles and 50 air-launched cruise missiles for land and carrier-based aircraft.

France controls its deterrent independently outside NATO’s integrated command structure, and in March 2026 announced plans for an undisclosed stockpile increase while simultaneously reversing its longstanding practice of arsenal transparency.

Paris has been debating whether to extend its deterrent to cover European allies amid reduced U.S. commitments to the continent.

INDIA – India is estimated to possess up to 172 nuclear warheads. India’s doctrine pledges no first use but promises that nuclear retaliation to a first strike will be “massive and designed to inflict unacceptable damage.”

As an exception to no-first-use, India will use nuclear weapons against any state that targets the country or its military forces with biological or chemical weapons.

India has developed a robust nuclear triad, with Arihant-class nuclear submarines providing a sea-based second-strike capability. India continues to invest in modernization, developing MIRV capabilities and commissioning its second nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine.

India’s NFU commitment has faced internal pressure: various statements by officials, including former defense ministers and national security advisers, have suggested the no-first-use policy could be reconsidered in light of emerging threats such as hypersonic missiles.

The 2025 India-Pakistan conflict tested but did not break India’s posture. India ignored Pakistani nuclear signaling during the four-day conflict in May, with Prime Minister Modi describing conventional military strikes as a “new normal.”

PAKISTAN – Pakistan’s arsenal is estimated at 170 nuclear warheads as of 2025, with the DIA’s 2025 Worldwide Threat Assessment noting Pakistan has not adopted a no-first-use policy and is expanding its arsenal, with projections suggesting a potential increase to 200.

Pakistan pursues full-spectrum deterrence, with four broad triggers that could result in nuclear use: large territorial loss, destruction of a significant portion of air or land forces, economic strangulation, or political destabilization. Pakistan has since 2011 developed tactical nuclear weapons designed for battlefield use, and in 2015 confirmed these could be used in a potential conflict with India.

Pakistan’s deterrence logic was undermined during the May 2025 conflict when India conducted conventional strikes despite Pakistani nuclear signaling.

Following the ceasefire, Pakistan’s Army Chief issued a nuclear threat from U.S. soil, warning Pakistan would “take half the world down” if faced with an existential threat.

NORTH KOREA – As of early 2026, the Federation of American Scientists and SIPRI assess approximately 50 assembled warheads, with fissile material sufficient for up to 90, and a claimed production capacity of 6–7 new warheads annually.

A September 2023 law expanded the conditions under which Pyongyang would employ nuclear weapons, lowering what had been a high threshold for use.

The 2022 Nuclear Force Policy Law allows “immediate and automatic” retaliation if leadership or strategic assets are threatened, and Kim’s five-year defense plan targets annual warhead production increases, diversification across land, sea, and air platforms, and integration of tactical nuclear weapons for battlefield use against South Korean forces.

At a Workers’ Party congress, Kim Jong Un stated the DPRK’s position as a nuclear weapons state “has been consolidated to be irreversible and permanent,” with analysts noting the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran will likely reinforce Kim’s determination not to bargain away the regime’s nuclear capability.

North Korea has explicitly rejected denuclearization and is pursuing MIRVs, hypersonic glide vehicles, and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

ISRAEL – Israel is estimated to have 90 nuclear warheads, with fissile material stockpiles sufficient for approximately 200 weapons.

Israel does not admit nor deny having nuclear weapons, and states that it will not be the first to introduce nuclear weapons in the Middle East, though it is universally believed to possess nuclear arms stored in a partially disassembled state.

In 2024, Israel conducted a test of a missile propulsion system potentially related to its Jericho family of nuclear-capable ballistic missiles and appears to be upgrading its plutonium production reactor at Dimona.

Israel’s policy of deliberate nuclear ambiguity has come under pressure following the 2025 conflict with Iran.

Analysts argue Israel will need to update its strategic posture by shifting from “deliberate nuclear ambiguity” to “selective nuclear disclosure,” particularly given that a defanged Iran could call upon nuclear-armed North Korea as a proxy. Israel has no declared doctrine, no-first-use pledge, or participation in the NPT.

Iran – While Iran has yet to produce nuclear weapons, it possesses the largest ballistic missile inventory in the Middle East and has an extensive record of direct state-on-state missile use. Its longest-range systems can reach up to 2,000 kilometers, placing the entire Middle East within range.

Iran has a documented record of threatening and attacking neighboring states with ballistic missiles and drones, directing its Houthi proxies to paralyze Red Sea shipping for over a year beginning in late 2023, and closing the Strait of Hormuz in 2026 through IRGC naval attacks on merchant vessels, disruptions that together struck at two of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints and triggered the largest oil supply shock since the 1970s.

A nuclear capability would deter the military strikes that have been the primary check on Iran’s behavior, freeing Tehran to escalate proxy warfare, missile attacks, and strategic chokepoint coercion against its neighbors and global shipping lanes without fear of the conventional retaliation that has, until now, constrained it.

Aurore Henze, known as Dr. Aurore, was a health journalist working in politics in 2017 when her family was targeted by what she calls a “corporate cartel” set up and protected by powerful Democrats.

This all came to a head in January this year when charges were filed against Democrat treasure Traci Kornak for embezzling and abusing a vulnerable adult. Kornac was on the radar for a long time but her friend, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel was protecting her. Aurore states:

“I was waiting for this moment, they are not the only one that can play the long game, I knew it would take time for the remnants of the Biden regime to come crumbling down and now it’s my turn to tear down the next wall.”

We asked Aurore about how and why she believes her case is connected to the Kornac case.

“I was a conservative; I had voted for Trump but had worked amicably with both political parties until the 2018 elections,” says Aurore, who is also a health author cited in the National Library of Medicine.

“Before I was disenfranchised, I was considered one of the most networked individuals in Michigan. I valued that people trusted me and for me that means safety. As a Christian, I considered it an honor and duty to serve but I learned the hard lesson that no matter what level of society you are working with, not everyone shares the same values.”

And by targeted Aurore means that she was initially threatened that she was going to be framed for a drug crime on Mother’s Day in 2017 with specific details of who, what, where and why. Then in 2018, it came to pass, exactly as she had been warned on the same day.

“I didn’t take the threat serious as I was a naturopath doctor and hadn’t taken a Tylenol in over 20 years. I imagined that to do what they planned to do would be impossible and that no one would believe them- but I was wrong, painfully wrong.”

Aurore’s Mother died on Easter in 2018 and she while she was in a state of grief and mourning, CPS showed up, drug tested her and gave her son to her domestic violent ex-husband, who had lost custody. She soon found out that ex-husband was cooperating with this cartel. “I had a lot to lose,” bemoans Aurore.

“My Father was suffering from dementia and with my Mom gone, it left our family a vulnerable target and we were. I had lived most of my life with my ex-husband threatening me about stealing my family’s estate. Finally, the plan was enacted against me and the moment had arrived.

As of 2026, I have more than 10 family members that have been targeted and/or compromised and more than 15 million embezzled and these individuals have had 100% complete control of my medically incapacitated Father for the last three years. This is what their long-term plan and pay out looks like.”

Someone was watching and waiting, says Aurore, and it became obvious she had been set up in her 2013 divorce by her ex-husband’s now disbarred attorney.

She was also just one of many victims of this cartel, that she says, functions as a well-oiled machine with a predictable pattern of behavior for many years.

“This group of individuals acts with total impunity, hiding behind titles and corporations, locating and tracking families of high net-worth, gathering intel for black mail, resorting to entrapment and espionage to boost their odds and then launching their attack when a family experiences trauma or upheaval.

They implement these protocols with footmen in the community, both creating and infiltrating business groups like BNI and chambers. They use these individuals as investors in their shill companies to wash the money and/or lure new victims. They also make sure every attorney is either on board or unethically complacent.

And of course, corrupt Judges and public servants taking bribes and working for their network makes all this successful and untouchable. With the use of technology, insurance statistics like programs and the ease of sharing information, it is streamlined, effective and efficient.”

But why Democrats, what makes this a partisan issue? Aurore quips,

“Follow the trail! It’s easy to identify the politicians looking the other way, calling the shots and benefiting from these criminal endeavors.

For me, I was railroaded in my divorce and ended up ironically being the neighbor of a Chief Judge, a staunch Democrat.

She made it clear she never liked me, though my children babysat for her grandchildren and I was friends with her daughter. I found it strange that she was seen in public with my ex-husband having a conversation in 2014, but for four years she never even looked at me or said hi.

In 2016, I brought her daughter to a Republican nomination dinner and she was livid, shortly after it was disclosed to me that that she launched a campaign against the family of her husband’s former law partner that died and had successfully intercepted the entire inheritance from the family. I also found out that the three children I was warned about in 2017, happened to be the three kids I had referred to the Judge as babysitters.

Two of the children came forward and told me they were pressured to lie about me and refused. The child that did comply was rewarded with a lucrative high security job that she was not trained for, however the other two were subsequently targeted and arrested shortly after-twice each.

And that was just the Democratic judge, because my case is directly connected to Dana Nessel, Senator Mallory McMorrow, and Gretchen Whitmer.

I knew Nessel was involved because I had worked on her campaign for elder abuse reform and marijuana coverage for the VA and when she won the election and I brought this crime to her, she refused to act and did nothing.

And here I am, nine years later, more than 20 complaints later, and she has failed to act and investigate even the lowest hanging fruit criminals.

She will not stop them from selling all of our property or save my Father’s life. In fact, she has refused to enact the elder abuse laws, she created to stop this criminal enterprise. That in and of itself is collusive.

But more than that, when I attempted to go above Nessel and send a complaint about her with 2k pages of evidence to the DOJ in 2022, I was followed and all of my documents were stolen from me and the police refused to investigate.

I have been falsely arrested, framed as mentally ill, disenfranchised, illegally surveilled, illegally search and seized, hacked, physically assaulted, denied basic due process and Constitutional rights for nine years now. My Democrat Senator Mallory McMorrow has ignored all my pleas for help, as well.

And every attorney refused to take my case, telling me in one voice, my only option as an American citizen, was to leave the country!”

We asked Aurore if she thinks her case is hopeless and if she is considering the attorneys’ advice after all she and her family have gone through. She states that she does has citizenship in another country and that was always an option but giving up on her Father who has cancer and has been tortured, robbed and isolated for the last three years is never an option.

“My first name is Michanne, my Father named me after the state of Michigan, I also have four honorable Catholic priests in my family, one of which was also a victim- I will honor my name sake and my country against these treasonous actions which are a threat to every citizen of the United States. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. At this point, President Trump needs to come to Michigan to drain the swamp and if he won’t, I will but I would sure appreciate the help!”

The Trump administration took the extraordinary step of sending a U.S. government aircraft to Cuba to recover a 10-year-old American child at the center of a disturbing custody battle involving gender identity and plans for medical transition.

According to court filings and a DOJ announcement, 42-year-old Rose Inessa-Ethington, the child’s biological father, who identifies as a transgender woman and previously went by Eri Ethington, along with partner Blue Inessa-Ethington, 32, took the 10-year-old boy (and reportedly Blue’s 3-year-old child) under false pretenses during what was supposed to be a family camping trip to Canada.

Instead, the pair allegedly fled to Mexico and then on to Havana, Cuba, with $10,000 in cash, raising immediate alarms that the boy was being transported for “gender reassignment surgery prior to puberty.”

A Utah court had already granted the biological mother, identified as “LB,” exclusive custody and ordered the immediate return of the child. But the trans couple ignored the ruling and went on the run.

The FBI, under the Trump administration’s direction, coordinated with Cuban authorities, who actually assisted in locating and arresting the pair on April 16, and sent a Department of Justice Boeing 757 directly to Cuba on Monday to bring the boy home safely. He has now been reunited with his biological mother.

The two suspects face federal charges of international parental kidnapping.

The DOJ announcement reads:

Two Utah persons are in federal custody and charged in a federal criminal complaint of International Parental Kidnapping. The pair is accused of allegedly skipping out on a planned camping trip to Canada with a shared custody child and instead took the 10-year-old to Havana, Cuba, without the biological mother’s knowledge or court approval.

Rose Inessa-Ethington aka Eri Ethington, 42, and Blue Inessa-Ethington, aka Carly Ann Crosby, 32, both of Cache County, Utah, were deported from Cuba on Monday with the assistance of the FBI.

Upon landing in the United States, the two defendants appeared in court for an arraignment in Richmond, Virginia, and will be transported to the District of Utah at a later date for the remainder of their court case at the Orrin G. Hatch United States District Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City.

According to court documents, on March 28, 2026, a 10-year-old child was supposed to be traveling by car to Calgary in Alberta, Canada, for a planned camping trip with the minor victim’s biological father Rose Inessa-Ethington, Rose’s partner Blue and Blue’s 3-year-old child.

But the group never arrived at their hotel in Calgary or the campground they planned to stay at from March 29 – April 2, 2026. As alleged, the group had not been heard from since March 28, 2026, when the 10-year-old told the biological mother via telephone they arrived in Canada.

The biological mother shares custody of the 10-year-old with Rose, her former spouse. On April 3, 2026, the child was supposed to be returned to the biological mother after the camping trip to Calgary, according to the court ordered custody agreement, which did not occur.

According to court documents, on March 29, 2026, the group crossed the U.S. Canada Border and took a flight from Vancouver, Canada to Mexico City, Mexico. On April 1, 2026, the group took another flight from Merida, Mexico to Havana, Cuba. Mexican immigration authorities confirmed their arrival and departures utilizing their U.S. Passports.

As alleged in court documents, interviews with the 10-year-old’s family provided significant concerns for the minor’s well-being, as the child was born male, however, identified as a female child, which family members largely believed to be due to manipulation by Rose.

Concerns existed that the child was transported to Cuba for gender reassignment surgery prior to puberty. On April 13, 2026, a Utah State Court ordered the 10-year-old to be returned to the child’s mother immediately and granted the mother exclusive custody of the child. On April 16, 2026, Cuban law enforcement located the group in Cuba.

“We are grateful to law enforcement for working swiftly to return the child to the biological mother,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa Holyoak for the District of Utah.

“Our priority in every parental kidnapping case is the safety and well-being of the child,” said Special Agent in Charge Robert Bohls of the Salt Lake City FBI. “This case reflects the strength of partnerships in locating victims, supporting reunification, and ensuring accountability.”

A potentially devastating mass casualty attack was stopped in its tracks this week after swift coordination between federal authorities and Florida law enforcement led to the arrest of a suspect allegedly planning a mass shooting at a large festival in Louisiana.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office’s official Facebook post, federal authorities contacted the sheriff’s office about a male from North Carolina who was reportedly heading straight into their jurisdiction with the intention of carrying out a mass shooting at a major festival in Louisiana.

The suspect is being extradited to Louisiana to face justice there.

The post reads:

“The OCSO was contacted by federal authorities in reference to a male from North Carolina being in our jurisdiction while reportedly heading to do a mass shooting at a large festival in Louisiana. Our Bravo East Deputies located the male at a Destin hotel and he was taken into custody tonight without incident as a fugitive from justice. He will be extradited to Louisiana for his charges from state police there. Excellent work by all.”

At the time of writing, authorities have NOT released the suspect’s name or full identity, and key details about his motive and planning timeline remain unclear.

Shout out to Sheriff’s Office Bravo East Deputies and everyone involved. You are the thin blue line standing between us and chaos.

No shots fired. No dead innocents. No national tragedy for the fake news media to exploit for their next gun-control circus.
