Commonwealth’s Attorney G. Ryan Mehaffey has officially declared war on Governor Abigail Spanberger’s tyrannical new “assault weapons ban” and public carry restrictions, telling the local sheriff in black-and-white terms that these laws are unconstitutional and will not be enforced in his county.

In a bombshell May 15 letter to Spotsylvania County Sheriff Roger Harris, Mehaffey blasted Virginia’s newly enacted Assault Weapons Ban (SB 749 / HB 217) and Public Carry Ban (SB 727 / HB 1524), arguing the laws directly conflict with Supreme Court precedent and Virginia’s constitutional protections.

The prosecutor cited major Supreme Court rulings, including District of Columbia v. Heller and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, arguing the state’s new gun restrictions fail the constitutional test laid out by the Court.

Just one day after Spanberger signed the bills into law on May 14, Mehaffey made it crystal clear: these infringements on our God-given right to keep and bear arms are dead on arrival in his jurisdiction.

Mehaffey wrote:

Dear Sheriff Harris,

Today it has come to my attention that certain legislation enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia was yesterday signed into law by the Governor of Virginia, to wit: an Assault Weapon Ban (SB 749 / HB 217) and a Public Carry Ban (SB 727 / HB 1524).

I write to state that this legislation is inconsistent with the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and Article I, Section 13 of the Virginia Constitution. These laws are unconstitutional and cannot be lawfully enforced.

U.S. Supreme Court precedent expounds the Second Amendment right of the people to keep and bear arms as necessary for a well-regulated militia. Under U.S. v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174 (1939), the Second Amendment secures the right of the citizen-soldier to arm himself with those instruments that have “some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia.”

The arms of a basic infantryman are the primary instruments of a militia.

The primary basic infantry weapon for the U.S. military is the M4A1 carbine, equipped with a 30-round magazine.

The most popular rifle in America, the AR-15, is modeled after the M4A1 and has an estimated circulation of over 32 million.

In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess firearms that are in “common use” for lawful purposes.

In New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n, Inc. v. Bruen, 597 U.S. 1 (2022), the Supreme Court ruled that Second Amendment restrictions must be consistent with “the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.”

In the historical tradition of Virginia, the law not only permitted but required its citizens to arm themselves with the instruments of a basic infantryman – a musket and 20 rounds – for service in the militia. The Assault Weapons Ban (SB 749 / HB 217) and the Public Carry Ban (SB727 / HB1524) are undoubtedly inconsistent with the historical tradition of Virginia, as articulated by Miller, and are thus unconstitutional under Bruen.

Moreover, Heller secures the right of Virginians to keep and bear the most popular rifle in America, an AR-15, for the lawful purpose of readiness for service in the Virginia militia, Va. Code Ann. § 44-1 (2026), as the Founders intended.

Landry is in the house.

As the eyes of the world are focused on the Middle East, the US administration continues to work on a myriad of other geopolitical issues, including the relationship with the Arctic Island of Greenland.

About a week ago, the island Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen admitted that the US military presence is part of the ongoing negotiations with the US.

Yesterday (17), US special envoy Jeff Landry, arrived in the capital Nuuk according to local ‌media.

Donald Trump speaks at a podium while a man in a blue suit listens, with an image of Greenland in the background.

Landry was appointed by President Donald Trump last year to push for American ownership, control of the island or otherwise have effective security agreements with the autonomous territory of Denmark.

Reuters reported:

“Landry, the governor of Louisiana, has previously backed Trump’s goal of making the vast Arctic territory a part of the United States. The ambition has been strongly opposed by both the Greenlandic and Danish governments, which have repeatedly said Greenland is not for sale.

Footage from Nuuk published by public broadcaster DR showed Landry exit a plane.

He is scheduled to attend the ‘Future Greenland’ business conference on May 19-20 and will be accompanied by the U.S. ambassador to Denmark, Kenneth Howery.”

Landry was not formally invited to the conference, but the event is open for anyone to sing up.

“The U.S. embassy in Copenhagen said ‌earlier this week that Landry and Howery would ‘meet with a wide range of Greenlanders to listen and learn with a goal of expanding economic opportunities, building people-to-people ties, and increasing understanding between the United States and Greenland’.

Seeking to calm tensions, Greenland, Denmark and the U.S. earlier this year agreed to hold high-level diplomatic negotiations to resolve the crisis, although the outcome of those ongoing talks has yet to be presented.”

On Saturday night the worthless US Senate RINOs lost one of their most faithful backstabbers Senator Bill Cassidy, a Republican Senator from Louisiana who who voted to to convict President Trump for the January 6 Fed-surrection led by at least 270 FBI agents and unknown numbers of government plants.

This was another blow to the dirty Senate RINOs. It was a great win for America.

It should be noted that Majority Leader Thune and the Republican Senate Campaign fund. And they lost!

On Sunday actor James Woods went after the turncoat Senate Majority leader:

Close-up of a serious man speaking at a political event, expressing strong opinions on voter ID laws and party loyalty.

Senator Thune will not even pass Voter ID to save the country – an issue that that has over 80% support from the public!

Who is this treacherous rat really working for?
It’s NOT the American people and it certainly IS NOT Republican voters.

Calling Thune a “treacherous rat” is being kind.

Sen. Cory Booker appeared on MSNOW Sunday and delivered exactly the kind of dramatic, race-obsessed rhetoric that now defines the modern Democrat Party’s response to redistricting.

Booker was reacting to recent Supreme Court redistricting rulings, including the Court’s May 11 decision allowing Alabama to use a congressional map previously blocked by a lower court.

The decision overturned a judicial order requiring Alabama to use a court-imposed map with two largely Black districts.

Instead of treating the ruling as a constitutional debate over race-based districting, Booker framed the entire issue as a return to one of the darkest chapters in American history.

During the interview, Booker said his “soul and heart ache” over the Court’s decision and claimed America is facing a moment similar to the civil rights battles of the 1950s and 1960s.

Booker spoke about Alabama as “sacred soil,” referencing Martin Luther King Jr., Fred Shuttlesworth, John Lewis, Freedom Riders, the Edmund Pettus Bridge, police dogs, fire hoses, and the long struggle against Jim Crow.

The problem is obvious: no one is stopping Black Americans from voting.

Black voters have the same legal right to cast ballots as white voters, Hispanic voters, Asian voters, Jewish voters, Christian voters, young voters, old voters, and every other American citizen. The issue at the center of this fight is not whether people can vote, but rather whether the government should draw congressional districts based on race.

Booker and the Democrat Party do not want Americans to see the issue that way because their political strategy depends on making every election fight a moral emergency.

If Democrats can convince voters that Republicans are trying to bring back Jim Crow, then Democrats do not have to defend race-based redistricting on the merits. They can just accuse their opponents of racism.

Booker even claimed that Republican-backed maps would “eviscerate Black leadership” and undermine democracy itself. He said the next six months are not about Democrats versus Republicans, but about “democratic forces” against people who want to undermine democracy.

That is the entire Democrat playbook.

They take a normal political and legal dispute, inject race into it, compare their opponents to segregationists, and then demand moral outrage from their base. It is not an argument, but pure emotional manipulation.

The most offensive part of Booker’s interview was the comparison between today’s redistricting fight and the actual civil rights movement.

Americans who faced lynching, legal segregation, terror, poll taxes, and state-backed discrimination were fighting for basic constitutional rights. Booker is fighting to preserve a political system where race remains central to how voting districts are drawn.

Those are not the same thing.

The Supreme Court’s recent rulings are part of a broader legal fight over whether racial gerrymandering can be justified under the Voting Rights Act. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that the Alabama ruling followed the Court’s Louisiana decision, which dealt with unconstitutional racial gerrymandering.

To normal Americans, the principle should be simple: voters should be treated as citizens, not racial categories.

But to Cory Booker and the left, everything must be filtered through race. Every map, every election, every court ruling, and every Republican action becomes another excuse to claim America is sliding back into Jim Crow.

Booker’s interview was not a serious defense of voting rights. It was a performance. It was overdramatic, historically irresponsible, and politically useful for Democrats who cannot win arguments without dividing Americans by race.

Dem Infighting Worsens as Fingers Start Pointing in Heated California Governor’s Race

Dem Infighting Worsens as Fingers Start Pointing in Heated California Governor’s Race

Dem Infighting Worsens as Fingers Start Pointing in Heated California Governor’s Race
May 18, 2026

Colorful tents line a city sidewalk, highlighting homelessness and urban challenges in a metropolitan area.

The warm California summers have nothing on the flaring tempers within the state’s crowded gubernatorial race.

And most of that bickering is coming from just one side of the political aisle.

As Democrats vie to get past the state’s unique primary system — wherein neither major political party is guaranteed to have a candidate in the final two — tensions are rising significantly between them.

As the New York Post pointed out, one of the contenders, California Rep. Katie Porter, is now trying to reframe one of her biggest campaign blunders as an indictment against a fellow Democrat.

Porter told CNN that she was “confident” that the unflattering videos that began circulating in October 2025 of her screaming at various aides and acting in other uncouth manners were ultimately leaked by billionaire gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer.

“I am confident that is the case,” she said.

Steyer’s campaign has denied this allegation.

“This is an attempt from Katie Porter to deflect from her past mistakes,” Steyer’s team said. “Katie Porter only has one person to blame for her standing in the race, and it’s herself.”

This latest round of finger-pointing comes after the Democratic side of the ballot was thrown into disarray following the sudden dropout of former Rep. Eric Swalwell — largely seen as one of the frontrunners to replace incumbent Gov. Gavin Newsom once he terms out this year.

Swalwell left the race — and the House of Representatives — under a cloud of disgrace as a deluge of heinous sexual assault allegations surfaced, alleging among other things that the lawmaker had used his position to solicit sexual favors from staffers.

While Swalwell denied some of the more sinister allegations, he did admit to some form of wrongdoing.

“I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past,” Swalwell said in an April statement. “I will fight the serious, false allegations made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make.”

Prior to the withdrawal, however, many of Swalwell’s Democratic rivals sensed blood in the water, causing the first wave of significant infighting in the party that’s largely had California in an ironclad grip.

But that could be poised to change soon.

According to Real Clear Polling, Republican candidate Steve Hilton (20 percent) holds a slim lead over Democratic candidate Xavier Becerra (19.8 percent).

Steyer is in third place with 14 percent, while Porter is in fifth with just 9.8 percent.

But it’s not just the state’s highest elected office that could see a Republican assume office.

As the Los Angeles Times noted on Wednesday, former reality television star Spencer Pratt has burst onto the scene as a bona fide contender in the Los Angeles mayoral race — and is the only Republican in the race.

The California gubernatorial race will be decided during the November midterms.
