The inhabitants of a small seaside village are terrified by out-of-control, aggressive birds: this may sound like the plot for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 film ‘The Birds’, but it’s actually a real-life story unfolding in a small village in the town of Ravenna, Italy.

The Telegraph reported:

“The inhabitants of Punta Marina say they are being driven to distraction by the birds, which keep them up at night with their strident screeches, eat the flowers in their gardens, damage their cars, and deposit droppings all over the place.

Until a few years ago, there were a handful of peacocks living in the seaside resort, which is close to the city of Ravenna. Locals say they proliferated during the Covid pandemic, taking advantage of the absence of vehicles and people in the streets during the long months of lockdown.

There are now estimated to be around 120 of the elegant but noisy birds living in Punta Marina.”

Residents say that the male peacocks keep pecking at cars, mistaking their reflections for rivals.

Some of the birds take refuge in an abandoned apartment block, where they are not undisturbed.

“’The building is right next to my house and every day I see at least 30 of them’, said Riccarda Nolo, a resident. ‘The peacocks took up residence in the abandoned garden around three years ago. I sleep two hours a night, maximum, because I’m woken at 3am by their calls.

My alarm goes at 4.30am because I have to go to work. Sooner or later, I’m going to go mad. To say nothing of the €1,000 I had to spend to fix my roof after they shifted lots of the tiles, which let the rain in. I can’t stand it any longer’.”

Rep. Brandon Gill on Thursday shredded leftist Fairfax County, Virginia, Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano for letting criminal illegal aliens, including child rapists, escape justice and releasing them back into the community. 

During testimony before a House Judiciary subcommittee, Gill forced the pro-illegal alien prosecutor to admit that his office’s policy puts weight into defendants’ immigration status and so-called “collateral immigration consequences” when making prosecutorial decisions, including charges, plea bargains, and sentencing.

This policy was seemingly used in the case of Jose Cortez Mendez, a Guatemalan illegal alien arrested in March 2024, who was charged with “carnal knowledge of a 13 to 14-year-old” and received reduced misdemeanor charges with only 90 days in prison.

When Gill pressed Descano on why the illegal alien was given a slap on the wrist for raping a young teenage child, Descano squirmed and repeatedly refused to answer the question of whether or not Mendez was given special treatment.

Eventually, Descano admitted he didn’t know whether the prosecution considered the suspect’s immigration status in the case. “I don’t believe so,” Descano said when grilled on whether or not the charging decision was made based on the suspect’s immigration status. He further attempted to evade responsibility by noting that he wasn’t the lead prosecutor in the case.

Still, Descano claimed that the prosecutor “should not have” taken the defendant’s immigration status into account and that the absurd policy may have been abused under his watch.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Descano testified before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement this morning about preferential treatment toward illegal alien criminals.

This comes after the murder of Stephanie Minter, 41, who was stabbed to death in February by an illegal alien from Sierra Leone with over thirty arrests.

Under the Soros-backed prosecutors, crimes like this by illegal aliens frequently occur in Fairfax County.

The Justice Department has also opened a civil rights investigation into the prosecutor’s office for protecting criminal illegal aliens.

Vice President JD Vance on Thursday delivered remarks at an anti-fraud rally in Bangor, Maine.

Vance went off on Maine’s Democrats for allowing fraud to run rampant in the state.

The Vice President said Maine is one of the worst states in the union, thanks to the Democrats.

“Why did Maine go from a state that did not have a serious fraud problem to one where I can honestly say it’s one of the worst states in the union?” Vance said.

“Number one is Janet Mills, and number two is Joe Biden,” he said.

And thankfully, thankfully, one of them has already been kicked to the curb and one is on her way out the door exactly as it should be,” Vance added.

At one point, Vance gave a nod to citizen journalist Nick Shirley for exposing massive fraud in Minnesota.

Nick Shirley, last year, released the full 42-minute video of his investigation into the Somali fraud rings in Minnesota.

“We uncovered over $110,000,000 in ONE day. Like it and share it around like wildfire! It’s time to hold these corrupt politicians and fraudsters accountable,” Nick Shirley said last December.

Vance poked fun at the Quality Learing Center on Thursday.

“When we really got wind of what was going on in Minneapolis, it was because somebody showed up at the ‘Quality Learing Center,’” Vance said.

“We’ve got a guy over there- did you get a good education at the ‘Quality Learing Center,’ sir?” Vance said.

“He said he’s a graduate with honors of the ‘Quality Learing Center.’ I congratulate you, but I don’t think it’s that hard if we’re being honest,” Vance said.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) absolutely demolished Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano on Thursday.

Just one week after the Trump Justice Department announced a civil rights investigation into Descano’s office for alleged bias favoring illegal alien criminals over American citizens, the far-left prosecutor was hauled before Congress – and he melted down when confronted with his own words and deadly policies.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier today, Descano was set to testify in the hearing titled “Fairfax County, Virginia: The Dangerous Consequences of Sanctuary Policies.”

What unfolded was pure gold: Jordan caught Descano red-handed trying to memory-hole his own campaign promise to let immigration status influence charging and plea decisions.

This comes after the murder of Stephanie Minter, 41, who was stabbed to death in February by an illegal alien from Sierra Leone with over thirty arrests.

Police say Abdul Jalloh, 32, rode on the same bus as Stephanie Minter and was seen getting off the bus with her. Soon afterward police were called to the scene where Minter was found with multiple stab wounds to her upper body.

Under the Soros-backed prosecutors, crimes like this by illegal aliens frequently occur in Fairfax County.

Jordan went straight for the jugular, demanding to know why Descano suddenly changed his campaign website last month, conveniently right after the committee sent him a letter demanding he testify.

Descano claimed that it was too “obtuse” to understand the difference between what he told voters to get elected and what he actually does in office.

Jim Jordan:
“Mr. Descano, why did you change your website?”

Steve Descano:
“Sir, first of all, let me address what you had said.”

Jim Jordan:
“No, no, no. You answered the questions we asked. You answered the questions we asked. I asked a simple question: Why did you change your website last month?”

Steve Descano:
“Well, sir, your statements about we’re not—don’t want to prosecute guys is absolutely false, and my policies are right in this hearing.”

Jim Jordan:
“Are you saying what the sheriff wrote me is wrong?”

Steve Descano:
“No. What I’m saying is that the way my policies have been presented in this hearing is outrageous.”

Jim Jordan:
“December 16th. She said the Commonwealth’s Attorney—that’s you—chose not to prosecute Mr. Morales-Ortiz on December 16th, and they had to release him. They had to do their job because you wouldn’t prosecute. What happened on December 17th, Mr. Descano?”

Steve Descano:
“Let’s talk about December 16th.”

Jim Jordan:
“No, no, that’s the question. What happened on December 17th? This same guy murdered somebody. This guy murdered somebody, and I’m asking you: Why did you change your website?”

Steve Descano:
“Well, do you not want me to talk to you about the actual case?”

Jim Jordan:
“I want you to answer the first question I said: Why did you change your website?”

Steve Descano:
“Well, sir, because the website is not my policy. My policy is—you are referring to a campaign statement.”

Jim Jordan:
“I think the voters might be interested in that. Was this your campaign website where you said, ‘Our office will take immigration consequences into account when making charging and plea decisions’? Immigration consequences were certainly part of the game here, part of the issue here with Mr. Morales-Ortiz.”

Steve Descano:
“No, they weren’t.”

Jim Jordan:
“You decided not to prosecute.”

Steve Descano:
“Absolutely were not. You are assuming something that is not—in fact, untrue—because you are misrepresenting my policies. My policies do not say that we do not prosecute people for criminal immigration.”

Jim Jordan:
“Well, if you’re proud of your policies, why did you change your website?”

Steve Descano:
“Because that’s not my policy. As I told you, sir, that is a campaign statement that I made before I was Commonwealth’s Attorney.”

Jim Jordan:
“Mr. Descano, it had been up for six years. A week after we sent you a letter saying we want you to come testify, shazam, you change it. Is that coincidental?”

Steve Descano:
“Because I could not believe that people were so obtuse that they could not realize the difference between a campaign statement and an actual office policy.”

Jim Jordan:
“So when you make campaign statements, those aren’t true? You’re not being honest with your voters?”

Steve Descano:
“That’s not what I’m saying at all, sir.”

Jim Jordan:
“It sure sounded like it.”

Steve Descano:
“That’s absolutely not. What I’m saying is that when you—”

Jim Jordan:
“You still haven’t told me why you took it down.”

Steve Descano:
“Because I was hoping to come here to talk about my office policies, not be distracted by a campaign statement made a year before I was actually Commonwealth’s Attorney and had any cases that were mine.”

Jim Jordan:
“This is almost laughable. This is your policy. You said it right here. You told the voters, ‘If you elect me, I will take into account immigration consequences when making charging and plea decisions.’”

Steve Descano:
“This is my policy, not what you have in your hand.”

Jim Jordan:
“Oh, okay. So what you said to the voters is not real, doesn’t count?”

Steve Descano:
“No, sir.”

Steve Descano:
“What I’m saying is that, as an officeholder, my office is run by my policy.”

Jim Jordan:
“Your sheriff said you wouldn’t prosecute. This guy gets released, kills someone the next day. We start asking about it. You change your website and take down the statements that say you’re going to take into account immigration consequences when you decide who you are going to charge.”

Steve Descano:
“My policy is public. It has been public the entire time I’ve been in office, sir.”

Jurors have been deliberating for the last two days.

We have been following here on TGP the retrial in New York of former Hollywood power player – and alleged serial rapist – Harvey Weinstein.

Again? Yes. Weinstein was convicted in California in 2022 for three sex crimes, committed in 2013, against an unidentified Italian model and actress: Forcible rape, Forcible oral copulation, and Sexual penetration by a foreign object. For the crimes in this California trial, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Weinstein faces a THIRD New York trial on the rape charge involving hairstylist and actress Jessica Mann.

His original 2020 conviction was overturned by New York’s highest court in 2024 due to improper admission of testimony from uncharged accusers, which would have prejudiced the jury.

So, Weinstein had a 2025 retrial, in which prosecutors charged him with crimes against three women: the jury convicted him of one criminal sexual act count (involving Mimi Haley), acquitted him on another (involving Kaja Sokola), but was deadlocked on the Jessica Mann rape charge — leading to a mistrial.

Prosecutors chose to retry the unresolved Mann count alone, in a high-profile trial that started in mid-April.

Yesterday, the arguments of the prosecution and the defense wrapped up, and the jury was sent to deliberate.

Associated Press reported:

“Harvey Weinstein started feeling chest pains in a courthouse Wednesday as jurors deliberated in the former movie mogul’s closely watched rape retrial, his lawyers said, prompting the judge to end the first day of deliberations early.

Weinstein, 74, has myriad health problems, including cancer and a history of heart trouble, and he uses a wheelchair. He has been behind bars since 2020 and told a court in January that his ‘health is deteriorating’ in New York’s infamously troubled Rikers Island jail.”

“Jurors weren’t in the room at the time. They were about four hours into their closed-door discussions, and they had just sent a note asking to rehear part of accuser Jessica Mann’s testimony — a brief portion in which she said she was “spacing out” during cross-examination — and to review a lengthy prosecution timeline of emails and other evidence.

Judge Curtis Farber ultimately told jurors only that there were ‘unforeseen reasons’ for sending them home a bit earlier than planned. Prosecutors and Weinstein’s lawyers had left the courtroom so jurors would be less likely to speculate about Weinstein’s absence.”
