In a major win for Second Amendment rights, the Supreme Court has sided with three Hawaii residents, overturning a law that barred concealed-carry permitholders from exercising their rights in public. 

All three liberal justices dissented in the 6-3 ruling.

Per The Hill:

Hawaii enacted the measure, known as Act 52, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Second Amendment expansion.

Act 52 requires concealed carry permitholders to get explicit permission from a property owner, either verbally, in writing or via a “clear and conspicuous” sign, before carrying handguns on private property that is open to the public.

Three Hawaii residents — Jason Wolford, Alison Wolford and Atom Kasprzycki — and the Hawaii Firearms Coalition challenged the provision in federal court.

They won before a district judge but sought the Supreme Court’s review after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit sided with the state.

“This law departs sharply from the standard common-law rule on access to private property held open to the public. Under that rule, everyone, including those lawfully carrying firearms, may enter unless expressly prohibited from doing so. By contrast, under the new Hawaii law, no one carrying a firearm may enter without the property owner’s express authorization,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the majority opinion for the court.

“This regime hobbles what the Second Amendment protects: the right of Americans to carry arms for self-defense as they go about their daily lives. We hold that the law is unconstitutional.”

This comes after the Supreme Court also ruled in favor of gun rights for marijuana users in Texas after a man argued his Second Amendment was violated by a law barring gun ownership by anyone who uses drugs illegally.

Notably, it was the same law that Hunter Biden was prosecuted and convicted under for purchasing a firearm while addicted to crack cocaine. However, the high court did not address banning firearm usage from active drug addicts or those presently intoxicated with illegal drugs in its narrow ruling, only addressing the rights of marijuana users.

The US Supreme Court on Thursday sided with the Trump Administration and allowed immigration officials to turn away migrants who show up at US-Mexico border seeking asylum.

In a 6-3 decision, the high court ruled that migrants cannot apply for asylum until they step foot in the United States.

The three liberal justices, Sotomayor, Kagan and Jackson dissented.

In a rare move, Sotomayor read her dissent from the bench.

Conservative Supreme Court Justice Alito wrote the majority opinion.

“In ordinary speech, no one would say that a person “arrives in” a place—for example, a house, a city, or a country—before the person enters that place,” Alto wrote.

“The context in which the phrase “arrives in the United States” is used in the immigration statutes at issue here supports an ordinary-meaning reading. So does the presumption against extraterritoriality. We therefore reverse,” Alito wrote.

U.S. immigration officials can turn away asylum seekers at the Mexican border, the Supreme Court ruled on Thursday.

In a 6-3 decision, the justices greenlit a “metering” policy devised under the Obama administration and expanded during President Donald Trump’s first term, under which Customs and Border Protection agents posted on bridges between Mexico and the U.S. turned back many asylum seekers.

The high court’s ruling overturned lower-court decisions that found Congress intended to permit any immigrant approaching a border checkpoint to file for asylum.

A 23-year-old active FDNY Emergency Medical Technician was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers uncovered approximately 14,000 images and videos of suspected child sexual abuse material on his phone.

The arrest happened on June 1, 2026, when the traveler, a U.S. citizen employed as an EMT with the Fire Department of the City of New York, arrived at JFK from Santiago, Dominican Republic, according to CBP.

He was referred to secondary inspection, where CBP officers from the Human Trafficking Unit conducted a baggage and electronic device examination.

What they found was horrifying.

A hidden folder on the device contained roughly 14,000 images and videos depicting “adults engaged in sexual acts with prepubescent children, prepubescent and pubescent children engaged in sexual acts, and pubescent and age-indeterminate individuals engaged in sexual acts.”

The phone also contained the MEGA cloud storage application, a tool notorious for its end-to-end encryption that predators exploit to store and distribute illegal child sexual abuse material while making it extremely difficult for law enforcement to access without credentials.

On the same day, the defendant appeared in Queens Supreme Criminal Court and was arraigned on New York state sexual offense charges.

“Every day, our CBP officers at JFK stand on the front lines of some of the most disturbing crimes we encounter in law enforcement, and their vigilance in this case helped prevent further harm to vulnerable children,” said CBP New York’s Director of Field Operations Frank Russo.

“Their professionalism and resilience, combined with the outstanding work of our partners at Homeland Security Investigations, the New York City Police Department and the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, demonstrate how critical these partnerships are to holding offenders accountable, especially those in positions of public trust.”

The release does not name [EMT Master K. Detres], but a criminal complaint released by the Queens District Attorney’s office identifies him.

The complaint describes several videos allegedly found on Detres showing girls 7 to 10 years old, officials estimate.

In one video, a girl stands naked in a bathtub while a man urinates on her. One shows a child with her mouth on a man’s penis while “crying and shaking her head no.” Another shows a child with her mouth on a man’s penis as he “uses his hand to manipulate (her) head back and forth.”

A CBP officer said Detres “admitted, in sum and substance, he knew he had the child porn on his phone,” the complaint states.

Judge Lana Schlesinger released Detres without bail and set his next court appearance for Aug. 20. A DA spokesperson said the charges are “not bail-eligible” under state law.

The FDNY suspended Detres without pay for 30 days on June 2, spokeswoman Amanda Farinacci said. Under civil service rules, the city must then return him to the payroll at least until his criminal case is resolved.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin is testifying before the House Appropriations Committee during a DHS Oversight hearing.

Mullin’s testimony comes after an appeals court judge ruled that the Trump Administration may resume swift deportations under the President’s “Protecting the American People Against Invasion” executive order.

A federal judge blocked President Trump from enforcing the order last August.

The DC Circuit Court of Appeals in a 2-1 decision overturned the lower court ruling, allowing Trump to resume the mass deportations.

Meanwhile, the United States has gone 13 months without a single illegal alien making their way through the border.

“Thirteen straight months of ZERO releases at the border. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, we are delivering the most secure border in American history,” Mullin said in a press release this week.

“The days of catch and release are over. We are enforcing the nation’s laws and quickly sending illegal aliens back to their home countries, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of our nation.”

Mullin’s testimony also comes after 15 Antifa terrorists were sentenced to at least 50 years in prison on terrorism charges for an attack on a Texas ICE detention center last year. Ringleader Benjamin Song was sentenced to 100 years in prison.
