Pragmatism is very welcome.

Many think that the former Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is a Premier without a real popular mandate, since during the general election the leader was the failed Keir Starmer with a different set of policies – and that he should call snap elections to submit his name and program to the people’s will.

And that’s very much true.

But it’s also true that, along with a lot of leftist damaging policy ideas, Burnham also has taken some defensible decisions: be it allowing the US use of the Diego Garcia airbase for strikes against Iran, or halting the insane ‘early release’ of criminals, or even defying his own party to cut pension waste, there are some good, common-sense decisions.

One of the most promising of these positive developments arose today, as reports indicate Burnham is signaling that he’s ‘ready to ditch Ed Miliband’s Net Zero stance’ and admits Britain ‘can’t ignore’ North Sea oil and gas.

The PM spoke about his view after Trump said ‘the new gentleman’ told him he was going to ‘open up North Sea oil’.

“’I indicated in the phone call that we had a week last Monday that I would take a pragmatic approach when it comes to the North Sea,’ Mr Burnham told reporters during a visit to Barrow in Cumbria on Thursday.

‘And that is my intention as we go forward from here. There is a resource there. When people are struggling, we can’t ignore that. Hence, me indicating that to the President’.”

The victim found dead at a home owned by Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s was identified last week as 18-year-old Yoseliani Marte.

Marte was found shot to death on July 18.

On Thursday, the medical examiner ruled the victim’s death a homicide.

As TGP previously reported, a death investigation was underway earlier this month at a home owned by the husband of far-left Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) after a body was discovered on the property, according to Boston police.

Authorities responded to the Mattapan residence after reports of a deceased individual on the grounds of the property. The home is owned by Pressley’s husband, Conan Harris, Boston Globe first reported.

Harris and Pressley do not reside at the Mattapan property.

The victim’s family revealed that Marte lost her life as a result of domestic violence.

“With shattered hearts, I share the unimaginable loss of my beloved daughter Yoseliani, who tragically lost her life at just 18 years old as a result of domestic violence,” the GoFundMe said.

“No words can truly express the pain of losing someone so young, with so many dreams, hopes, and milestones still ahead of her. Yoseliani was deeply loved by her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched. Her kindness, beautiful spirit, and bright future will never be forgotten,” the GoFundMe said.

“Domestic violence has taken a beautiful young life far too soon. We hope that, through the love and support of this community, my family can find comfort in knowing we are not facing this tragedy alone,” they said.

An 18-year-old woman who was found dead inside a home owned by the husband of Massachusetts Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley was murdered, authorities announced Thursday.

Officers responding to the home at 25 Malta Road in the city’s Mattapan neighborhood just before 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, found Yoseliani Ann Marte Ocasio suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Boston Police Department.

Ocasio was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner officially ruled her death a homicide on Thursday, according to police.

Ocasio’s mother, Elenie Ocasio, previously told Boston 25 News on July 20 that she believed her daughter was the victim of a homicide.

“This coward killed my baby. He put a gun to her head, took my baby in that house and left her to die,” Elenie said.

Italy’s conservative government is considering extraordinary border controls as Spain’s socialist open-borders experiment erupts into chaos.

The Gateway Pundit reported earlier that Spain’s border police were overwhelmed as thousands of mostly young men poured into the Spanish enclave from Morocco, forcing businesses to close and local officials to demand troops.

Spain’s border with Africa descended into “absolute chaos” Thursday as thousands of migrants stormed into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from neighboring Morocco.

Videos from Tarajal Beach showed enormous crowds swimming around breakwaters, scaling barriers, breaking through a border gate, and running through the streets. Most appeared to be young men, although women and children were also among the arrivals.

Spain’s national broadcaster TVE reported that between 2,000 and 3,000 migrants crossed into Ceuta within hours.

A Spanish Guardia Civil spokesman said migrants were “massively entering from the sea” after completely overwhelming border authorities.

“The situation is absolute chaos,” Rachid Sbihi, who leads the association representing Guardia Civil officers in Ceuta, said. “There are thousands of migrants crossing.”

Sbihi said the border had “totally collapsed.”

Footage showed migrants using inflatable tubes and other flotation devices to reach Spanish territory. Others reportedly broke through a gate or climbed the heavily fortified border fence.

Ceuta’s leader, Juan Jesús Vivas, declared an “absolute humanitarian and social emergency.” Facilities for unaccompanied minors are operating at 2,400% of capacity.

Hundreds are sleeping outdoors. Vivas begged Madrid to declare a national emergency and deploy the army to restore control of the border, warning the situation risks matching the 2021 crisis when roughly 10,000 people flooded the enclave in days, according to Reuters.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is threatening to suspend Schengen travel arrangements with Spain after thousands of illegal migrants overwhelmed security forces and poured into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco.

Meloni issued a blistering statement following the border collapse:

“The images coming from Ceuta are striking and demonstrate, once again, that uncontrolled illegal immigration poses a concrete threat to the security of Europe’s borders.

“I have spoken with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. Italy will not stand by and watch. We are convening the relevant bodies, and following these meetings, we are prepared to intervene with extraordinary measures to defend the borders and the safety of citizens, including the suspension of the Schengen Area with Spain.

“On illegal immigration, we will not yield an inch: defending the borders, stopping human traffickers, and ensuring effective repatriations will continue to be the line of this Government.”

Meloni’s government is reportedly considering temporarily reinstating checks on travelers arriving from Spain. Although officials have described the proposal as “suspending Schengen with Spain,” the practical effect would be the reintroduction of internal border controls rather than the cancellation of visas.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani immediately backed the proposal.

“I am in favor of closing the Schengen Area with Spain,” Tajani wrote, warning that “irregular and uncontrolled immigration represents a danger to national security.” He also blasted Madrid’s mass-regularization policy, arguing that it encourages additional human trafficking. ANSA reported that Tajani expressed full confidence in Interior Minister Piantedosi.

Ceuta and Melilla, both Spanish territories located on the North African coast, form the European Union’s only land borders with Africa.

As The Gateway Pundit reported in June, Meloni directly confronted Sánchez during an EU leaders’ meeting and warned that Spain’s unilateral immigration policies would inevitably affect the rest of Europe.

Those warnings were ignored. Now the border has erupted.

The WNBA leadership circus has somehow found another way to embarrass itself.

The league’s official social media account posted a video Wednesday appearing to show two of its biggest young stars—Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers and Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese—agreeing to a $400 wager on the outcome of a game between their own teams.

Yes, the WNBA itself promoted the apparent bet.

The clip, recorded during the league’s All-Star Weekend in Chicago, showed Reese holding a stack of $100 bills while discussing the wager with Bueckers.

“This is how the rich stay rich,” Bueckers joked during the exchange.

The WNBA later shared the footage ahead of Wednesday night’s Dream-Wings matchup with a laughing caption referencing “the bet” between the two players.

There was just one enormous problem.

The WNBA’s own rulebook explicitly prohibits players from wagering on league games.

After fans began highlighting the apparent violation, the post vanished but not before users captured and circulated the video across social media.

The controversy only grew after Atlanta rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat Dallas 82-81.

Reese finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Bueckers recorded 17 points and six assists.

Following the victory, Reese appeared to reference the wager on X, writing, “DUBS IN THE MF CHAT” with the hashtag “#cuatrocientos,” Spanish for 400.

She also reportedly joked during her postgame press conference that she would be requesting her Apple Pay from Bueckers.

Article XIV, Section 5(c) of the league’s newly negotiated 2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement prohibits players from directly or indirectly wagering—or attempting to wager—money or anything of value on any aspect of a WNBA competition.

The commissioner is authorized to impose a fine, suspension, dismissal or permanent disqualification following a hearing.

This was not an obscure rule buried in an outdated handbook. The current agreement became effective in March 2026.

The WNBA later admitted that its social media post “missed the mark” and said the matter had been “addressed internally.”

The league claimed the exchange was intended to be lighthearted and said players receive annual training about its anti-gambling policies.

According to the statement obtained by Fox News:

“While the social media post was intended to be lighthearted, WNBA players are well aware of the league’s policies prohibiting betting on WNBA games and receive training every year reinforcing those policies. We recognized that the post missed the mark, removed it shortly after it was published, and addressed the matter internally. We will also use this as an opportunity to reemphasize with the players involved that conversations about wagering on WNBA games, even when intended as a joke, can have negative consequences.”

According to The Associated Press, however, Bueckers and Reese will not be punished. So there it is.

Commissioner Cathy Engelbert apparently chose to treat the league’s rulebook as optional after her own social media staff promoted the apparent violation to the public.

Dr. Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment in his opening statement in front of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on his actions that led to the COVID pandemic and his many lies told to the American public.

Senator Joni Ernst told Fox News that Fauci pleaded the Fifth Amendment 111 times.

Senator Moreno fumed as he confronted Dr. Fauci.

“Here I am sitting in front of you six years later, saying, who the f*ck do you think you were for doing that?” Moreno asked Fauci.

“It is a total disgrace what you did to this country, and if my Democrat colleagues are standing there defending you, I hope the voters — the United States of America, watch the clips of every one of you doting on a guy who is more interested in being a celebrity than saving American people,” The Ohio Senator said.

Senator Hawley of Missouri blasted Fauci for ‘getting rich’ while Americans were dying.

“During the pandemic you got rich. You got rich while Americans were dying,” Hawley said to Fauci.

“Your net worth is over $12 million. You got over $1 million in cash awards during COVID,” Hawley said.

Hawley also demanded legal action against Fauci.

Fauci was later overheard angrily whining to his wife about the Senate hearing.

According to The New York Post, Fauci was overheard dropping an F-bomb as he vented to his wife.
